Well, my time at home was cut a bit shorter than I was planning. They found out that my initial induction chemo didn't put the leukemia into the temporary remission that it should have. It's a bit more aggressive than they originally thought. So, I'm back in the hospital for another round of induction - a different "cocktail" of meds that will hopefully get me in remission.
I'm in a different hospital this time - one that's farther from home, which means i won't get to see my hubby daily like I was able to previously. But, it's one of the top 5 cancer treatment facilities in the country, so I'm feeling better about that. Plus, the food is better and my room is more comfortable.
This chemo will.wipe out my white blood cells again but, barring any fevers or infections, I may not have to be here as long. They believe in the power of home helping recovery plus, because they are so busy with lots of cancer patients, keeping me here 30 days is difficult. I definitely feel that even the 5 days at home made a huge difference in me.
Plus, going into it this time around, I'm aware and was able to prepare (pack, etc.) where last time it was a rush to the ER and save my.life immediately kind of a situation (I've never gone into full details on my getting this diagnosis but I was on death's door - my husband thought I was either having a stroke or was in septic shock). I think this will help immensely.
So, it's sucky I'm back, I'm a little scared, but I'm positive about it.
More later!! Thanks for all your support and prayers!!

Good to see an update, saw the expected return for top up chemo on the SC thread a couple of days ago. Ugh on the extra distance and restricted hubby time but glad you are being positive. Stay strong and kick that cancer's a** .

Sorry to hear about the latest, things like this tend to be one step forward and two steps backwards. My grandmother always said her hospital visits were like a vacation - nothing to do but relax with all the cooking and cleaning done for you.
I hope this round goes quickly and successfully and that you can be back home soon.

Wishes for a painless IV, a nurse with a kind heart and great sense of humor, and a comfy mattress that doesn't wake you up when you roll over. I'm sure your medical team will enjoy your wit and hopefully knowing a bit more about what's in store will make it easier. Strength - mental and physical - you've got it in you and we believe in you. Hugs for a quicker successful treatment. We're here if you need us!
