I'm so happy that she came out and is fine. She must be starving and thirsty, poor thing.
I had a similar incident with one of my cats a few years ago. She somehow got outside. I was beyond frantic because she is pure white and completely deaf. Great coyote bait. She couldn't even blend into the bushes. I searched for days. After a week, I was sure something had hurt her or killed her. But one night, I heard her overly loud meows. It was coming from above me. I ran out and looked on the roof, but no kitty. I climbed out my second story bedroom window to check a section I couldn't see from the ground. That's when I found a hole in the roof that led to the attic. We have what we call an attic here, but what it is is more of a crawl space with insulation on the floor in between wooden beams and in some areas, not enough head room to even stand up. This wasn't a nice typical attic like most people picture when you think of an attic. I thought I would just open the hatch to the attic, she would see me and come running. Nope.
After multiple attempts to get her down, I couldn't get her to come near enough to pick her up. I put food, water, and a litter box and she was happy as could be. After another two weeks, I finally decided to go up and get her out. I climbed up through the crawl hole thing and couldn't find her. I knew she didn't get back out because I plugged up the hole where she got in already. I finally found her sleeping back in a long tunnel part of the attic. I tried banging on the wood, clapping my hands, all sorts of things to wake her up. I ended up going back down the ladder and filling my sock top with rubber bands. I climbed back up and I shot them at the ceiling over top of her so they would fall onto her and wake her up. Do you know how hard it is to shoot a rubberband about 15 feet and aim at a section of crossbeam? I sucked at it.
I thought when she woke, she would see me and come running to me like she always did in the house. Nope. When a rubber band finally landed on her and woke her up. she was spooked. She looked like she was coming to me but darted past me so fast I couldn't grab her. The effort to catch her made me lose my balance and I stepped off the wood beam I was balanced on and onto a section of insulation. Insulation that was placed over the thin ceiling board. And seconds later, I went through the floor/ceiling when it gave way and was hanging there with my legs dangling and holding on to the beams beside me for dear life. The area I was up there was right near the top of the stairs. Falling one way would let me land on the carpeted hallway. Falling the other direction would have dropped me down to the first floor onto hard cement covered with wood. Not exactly cushy. I tried to look down to see if I could figure out exactly where I was hanging and which way I should try to jump.
Fortunately, I made the right decision and landed upstairs on the carpeted hallway. Now I had a big ugly hole in my ceiling, but still no kitty. The hole I made was in an area that made a new and better entrance to the attic area she seemed to favor. I figured out that I could use her deafness to my advantage. I put a box up in the attic on its side and slid her food and water bowls to the back of that box. That would keep her from seeing to the side where the opening in the ceiling was. I put another litter box on the other side of the hole so she couldn't jump easily and make another run for it. Then I put a little battery operated motion sensor pointing to the feeding station. It would go off when she broke the beam to go eat. She wouldn't hear it, but I would. I left the ladder in place so I could get up there as fast as possible.
In the middle of the night, the alarm went off. I shot up the ladder, stuck my arm into the open side of the box and grabbed at anything I could get ahold of. Success! She was startled, of course, and tried to squirm out of my grasp, but she didn't claw or bite. She was really a very gentle cat. I pulled her through the opening, climbed down the ladder, and turned on my bedroom light so she could see it was me. So what does she do after being gone for a total of 3 weeks? She purred like crazy and started rubbing her head on me. I don't know why she wouldn't come to me when she saw me up there, but she was fine as soon as she got down. I was afraid she had an injury and that's why she wasn't coming to me, but other than being filthy, she was fine. I gave her a warm bath, dried her off with the hair dryer, and went back to bed. Good thing they are so cute, huh?

So glad she is in the house an out of the vent. I was worried for her and you. I thought it was a nightmare when my dog got stuck under the bed and I had to lift it to get it out. Cat in heating ductwork==much worse.
