The Colorado thread got me thinking....what is the most beautiful view where you live?
I live in a small midwestern town. On the way to my house there is one view that takes my breath away...
small gentle rolling hills pond lots of mature trees cows grazing old wooden barn lightening bugs lush green gas and the smell of sweet corn in the air
How about you?

I live on the westcoast of Canada, it's usually the ocean off to the west. But on a sunny and clear day, it's Mount Baker in Washington.

the sun setting over the top of the trees behind our pond - and "the lightening bugs floating on the breeze"

I live on the outskirts of the Peak District. The glorious views there are too numerous to mention.

I live south of Nashville. There are lots of beautiful views but that vary a lot. Some spots in town have gorgeous views of downtown but just outside of the city are rolling hills with green pastures. I have to admit the mountains in East Tennessee are even better.

A couple of miles up the coast there is a huge hill right on the coast, on top of this is a centuries old castle facing the North Sea. Standing near the castle the view is of miles of golden beaches and a sea that disappears over to Norway! That is one of my favourite views combined with the surrounding smell of the sea and beach and sense of history. A few miles further inland we have Hadrian's Wall (the Roman Wall) and standing there the views looking south are of English countryside and looking north the mountains on the borders of Scotland. Great place to be when in need of some real peace and quiet.

I live in western Connecticut and we drove into southwestern Massachusetts yesterday for my youngest daughter's camp's visiting day in the Berkshires. The views are just beautiful up there.
I suppose some would find the view of my town bucolic and quintessentially Connecticut though - a Main Street with white church steeples and the whole New England thing going on.

My favorite view is similar to Tanktop's: the north side of our farm, a 50-acre mixed-grass pasture with our cattle herd grazing. There is a big pond and woods on two sides. So pretty and green this year. We have plenty of hay baled, with another cutting to come. Oh yes, the lightning bugs always add to the view at dusk! We go up in the evenings on the 4- wheeler to check the cows and sometimes just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The closest most beautiful would be the top of the Summit House on top of Skinner Mountain. Beautiful farmland down below, see the farmers plowing not to mention the rows of different crops. Also can see the Connecticut River so you sometimes see the boats moving along. Depending on the direction you are facing you can see Univ of Massachusetts, downtown Springfield (tops of the high rises that is), Can't remember if you can even see Vermont. They just renovated the Summit House which is a great old building with wrap-around porch so you can see in most directions. Great areas to have a picnic lunch. Love when my boyfriend picks me up and we go have lunch up there.

I can't really pick out one thing...so many beautiful views around here. Wisconsin really is a beautiful state. Woods, rolling hills, farms, lakes and rivers, limestone bluffs, rock formations. One of the things I love is that different areas of the state have different features. There are areas of pristine forest in the north, rolling hills in the central areas, cliffs and bluffs along the Niagra Escarpment and along the Mississippi river, lakes and rivers through out the state, even a little bit of flatness in the south.

It's not the most beautiful, probably, and I've long said I belong somewhere with more moderate weather But I get to wake up to this every morning. That's not such a bad thing... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I live in the foothills of the Adirondacks. I can't see much at my actual place, but when I am out and about, the mountains are always beautiful! I can't wait for the fall to get here!

I live on the lake so I love when the fog is hanging over the top of the lake and the sun is just beginning to rise! I also love the look of the lake when it is snowing!

I live in the Seattle area. There are a lot of really great views here but my favorite recently is the sun setting over Lake Washington. Tall green trees all around, boats out on the water, mountains in the background, the way the sun sparkles off the water. So gorgeous.

This. Disclaimer: This is NOT my photo. I don't have one with all of this in the view because anytime I'm driving and see any of this I can't just stop and take a photo. But various versions of this are views I see regularly when I drive into DC.

Also, the other thing I've seen several times that I so wish I could get a photo of, is fog at the Iwo Jima Memorial. I've seen it twice in the early morning. The fog was hanging at the grass level so that the memorial looked like it was floating on a cloud. Unfortunately at that point there was no where to pull over and no where even to turn around because by then I was on the bridge heading into DC.

Buford Dam on Lake Lanier There is a road that crosses the dam and the views on both sides of the road are beautiful. On one side is the lake - a beautiful lake surrounded by parks and trees and dotted with tree covered islands. On the other side is the river flowing from the dam - not what someone from, say, Coloroado, would call a canyon, but a deep drop for a Georgian. The river flows thru some really pretty rocks. When water is released, the river is sometimes covered in fog. Very Pretty!
There is also a view in downtown Atlanta my family calls the Mommy view. You come around a curve and, suddenly, there is the skyline of the city. On a clear night, especially with a moon, it is breathtaking. On a cloudy night, with a bit of drizzle, you look around for Batman to come flying down from a building - very Gothamesque! When we were newly arrived in Atlanta and were so poor we couldn't afford a sitter and movie, we would throw the kiddo in the car and head downtown and take in the view a couple of times. It was one of my favorite things to do, so my family started referring to it as the Mommy view.

We live not far from the seacoast of New Hampshire and Maine, we were up there yesterday for the day and took a little lobster boat ride, so the view from a boat to the shore and the rocky coastline broken up by small beaches and the gorgeous homes and hotels.
But my favorite is driving down Route 93 toward Boston, there's one turn of the road where the skyline of Boston comes into view and I just think it's beautiful.

There are parts of Houston I think are really beautiful (and many not so beautiful), but the best views around here IMO are in the hill country, particularly the part covered in vineyards and lavender or sunflower fields. Followed closely by the Big Bend area (desert/mountains), the green mountains around Fort Davis, and the undeveloped coastline of the North Padre Island National Seashore.

I live north of Houston in a community which is basically located in a pine forest. Right across the street from me is a big pond which has beautiful old cypress trees growing in the edge of the water on one side of the pond. The other side of the pond is ringed by towering pine trees and every night, huge waterfowl come to roost in the branches of the trees. The pond is also home to ducks, turtles and big bullfrogs that always startle me when they jump out of the grass and plop into the pond as I stroll by on the walking trail.

I'm in northwest NJ.
About 2 hours away is the ocean.
There is a farm not quite a mile away (yes, we have farms in NJ, lol) and last summer they planted a HUGE field of sunflowers in their field that borders the road. It was gorgeous (think Under The Tuscan Sun). I haven't been by there lately, so I'm not sure if it's there again this year.
My back yard borders state land. It's a fish hatchery. In the spring, before everything's in bloom, I can see the water in one of the beds (I guess that's what they're called). If I ignore the chainlink fence, it looks like we have a huge piece of property w/a pond. Right now, everything is just lush, green & beautiful. It's the view I have out my kitchen window and it's one of the reasons we bought this house.

I'm in Germany so everywhere is beautiful and green. But this thread makes me desperately homesick. The U.S. has so many beautiful sites no matter what part of the country you're in!

We live at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, close to a large reservoir. There is a winding road that runs along part of the reservoir, through the hills and valleys, that is really beautiful and green most of the year. There are lots of beautiful drives and vista here in Texas, though I still miss my mountains.

Honestly, I don't find it beautiful here. We live on the prairie with farms around us. I'm sure some people would find it beautiful, but I do not. The lack of scenery is one of the reasons I want to move.

my local fav view is southwest of golden gate bridge...by the Palace of the Legion of Honor museum..you drive around the corner...and there is the bridge...all alone with no houses in site. also, the view of the city from Twin Peaks...with the fog below.. both of these are about 15 min from me. our house view is west to the ocean about 2 miles from our house....and we see green flashes in the winter, fog all summer, and we often see hang gliders and paragliders flying over the coast.

Not a damn thing in my city but in MI, Lake MI is probably the best view there is no matter where you are on the shoreline. Hell, any of the shorelines are great. And northern MI and the UP are beautiful.
