The Oatmeal has a recommended redesign The folks from The Oatmeal actually posted this on Starbucks' Facebook page. There's 4k+ comments and so far, they're hysterical!

Now Trump had waded in saying we should boycott Starbucks, and when he's President everyone will say Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays. I just saw a clip on the news with him saying this. Hold your ears folks, it's show time! (crazy bastard is stoking the fires, it wasn't a big deal and would have faded into the background noise of the holidays but now that Trump has weighed in it is going to be a HUGE deal that we will have to be discussing into March.)

I've only read through page 1, but agree that I don't know of one single Christian who has this on their radar and that the media is looking for a story and making it larger than it really is.
With that said, if those so offended by the plan cups and the "removal" of Christmas would only understand that a jazzy Santa, reindeer, ornaments, and poinsettias may represent the secular holiday, but have absolutely nothing to do with what they consider the real meaning of Christmas.
Removing Santa from a cup is not a war on Christmas or anyone's faith.

The Oatmeal has a recommended redesign Thank you for posting this. At the hospital with DH, waiting to see the doctor then get chemo and this had both of us laughing out loud in the waiting room. Tears streaming down our faces.

Thankfully my FB feed is filling up with Christians saying this is stupid and your priorities are out of whack if you are upset about the Starbucks cups. This has been my experience, too.

OK, seriously though – what does the treat bag look like? Because I always put a cute little Starbucks bag in my December Daily to commemorate my first Starbucks holiday treat of the season. It better be cute, or I'm going to be pissed. I do the same with the gift card holder, remember when they were felt?

is it just me, or does the Jesus-on-the-cross design look even more devilish than the regular Starbucks cup? the expression on his face is kinda agonized / scary, to me... (or is that the whole point, and as usual, I just missed it entirely? that has happened before with me, lol! ) eta: trying to get across the idea that I'm kind of joking, kind of but not totally...

I dare Starbucks to make a deal and put the Grinch on their cup or better yet Ebenezer Scrooge with a big old Bah Humbug. That would be totally AWESOME! OMG! Please, don't let me miss Starbucks if that ever happens.

One bright side about plain red cups is that people can draw their own pictures/symbols on them. Problem solved. I wonder if that really was the original point. They have had design a cup challenges before.

The more appropriate title for this article is "Two Christian Evangelists Upset with Starbucks Cups." The opinions stated by two people off their Facebook statuses does not speak for an entire group of people. They state that the one Facebook status has 8 million views. That is "views", not "likes". I am a Christian and do not know a single person who would be upset by this cup design. I don't feel like Jesus is being hated on just because there isn't a snowflake on the cup. Snowflakes were so prevalent in Bethlehem

Now Trump had waded in saying we should boycott Starbucks, and when he's President everyone will say Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays. Guess he (and everyone else getting their panties in a wad) missed the memo that Holidays is a compound word of Holy Days and thus acknowledges the entirety of the season.

I surprised myself by actually noticing the new cups when I was in Starbucks the other day. My thought? "wow that cup is boring and I don't like that shade of red". And then I drank my coffee and went about my day. The End. But but but..... are you allowed to do that? You are a pea, aren't you? Please tell me that you at least were wearing your pearls with your kitten heels....

He will make it illegal to say that. Just like he is going to make Mexico pay for the wall we are going to build.

How is he going to know if someone says 'Happy Holidays' though? There's going to be a taboo curse attached and if you say Happy Holidays the Reindeer Snatchers will come for you and play the Alleluia Chorus on the recorder until you sign the Merry Christmas contract.

I hope Trump is joking, and I hope that people realize what a joke he is! He's just saying whatever will elicit applause and a "Hell, YEAH!" The scarier part (if that's possible) are those who believe a president can and should get involved in what greeting retail workers use. Excuse me, what greeting we "ALL WILL" use.

And that's what gets me about Christians and this war on Christmas. People are saying that it is largely made up, and they don't see their Christian friends getting upset about a cup, but there are plenty of Christians in my news feed posting memes about not being able to say Merry Christmas in America. And some self-proclaimed Christian minister(former pastor) who has all the gun-loving Christians on his side because he is all about the right to carrying his gun. It scares me.

I don't see many at all. I see way more complaining about not promoting reusable cups than the design.

I scrolled back through the 'visitor posts' and there were more posts when this "backlash" first started. Now the posts from the people mocking them seem to be taking over Spoke too soon, here's a good gem that was just posted:

I got through about 100 of 50k+ on the Red Cup post and about the same out of 6k+ on the Praline post, but didn't see anything negative. Those are the only posts I see since October. Well, there were a couple about SB hating the military, but nothing red cup related. What post has the upset people? I just saw Darcy's post. How do you get to "visitor posts?"
