It's just like all the hype I read on my FB feed about keeping CHRIST in CHRISTmas. HE never left. I say Merry Christmas to everyone or most everyone, unless I know they are Jewish.

I don't give a damn what's on the cup. Seriously I could care less. I just hope they went back to a sturdy cup. Half the Starbucks around here had the thinnest, craptastic cups for the last 3 months. So poorly made the lids wouldn't stay on. I don't need to wear my latte. I did infact boycott starbucks until they got a proper cup back in.
For the love of hot beverages starbucks, use a damn sturdy cup with a lid that fits, your charging enough for it!!!!!

Dear crazy Christian evangelists, Please feel free to boycott Starbucks. You'll make the line shorter for me every morning. Merry Christmas!

Once again, the media is making a big deal out of nothing. I have yet to meet one person (Christian or otherwise) that has any issue whatsoever with these cups. Seems like a small group of people had a fit and is looking for attention, so it's turned into some big uproar. Why does the media feed these people? Why? because it generates hits, which generates income. 90% of the media anymore leans more towards tabloid journalism. thank you! In my opinion, this is a "Non Story", and it must be a really slow news day for msn if they seriously consider the opinion of a hand full of people to be news. If anything, it's just free publicity for starbucks and people are happy to blindly feed into it. I'm a Christian, and believe me, this is not even close to even on my radar of minor concerns let alone a major one.

The last time I checked, red and green, snowflakes, wreaths, reindeer, ornaments, trees and even the word CHRISTMAS aren't anywhere in the Bible so how exactly does leaving any of that off a cup add or take anything away from the holiday? You can't take away something that was never there to begin with. For what it's worth, I grew up in a very conservative, "born again", Christian home (although I don't consider myself religious anymore) and I freaking love Starbucks and their cups.

I dare Starbucks to make a deal and put the Grinch on their cup or better yet Ebenezer Scrooge with a big old Bah Humbug.
We still have Veterans day and Thanksgiving to get through. Can we save the Christmas outrage until after that?

Can I be the only person in the world who never noticed that Starbucks had holiday cups? Definitely not the only one. lol. And I always get a few peppermint lattes during the Christmas season, and when my dd was younger I spent a lot of time in Starbucks while she was dancing. Nope, never noticed. Like someone said in this thread, I care more about what's IN the cup than what the cup looks like. Although, the bright red looks nice.

I only drink iced drinks at Starbucks, even in the dead of winter, unless I am sick. (Hot drinks give me hot flashes.)
What does it mean to the evangelists that my iced drink cups are NEVER decorated for the holidays?

Why do I never hear leaders of the Jewish faith or people celebrating Kwanzaa flipping their shit over the color of their Starbucks cups not reflecting their chosen celebrated holidays?
Don't the Christian leaders who are flipping out & having a tantrum realize that it just makes them appear ridiculous in the eyes of society?

I'm willing to bet that it's cheaper to print plain red cups with their logo than cups with seasonal designs. Plus they bring out the leftovers for Valentine's! Seriously, this is not "war on Christians" in the slightest bit. This is a big company looking to save money to keep their profits.
I'm so sick of this whole "war on Christians" and "taking Christ out of Christmas" crap. As long as you're celebrating the holiday the way you want to, why does it matter what 6 million strangers do?

I'd love to see them release a cup with the design of the word "JESUS" all over the cup, in a bunch of different sizes and fonts.
How long before someone has a problem with them using the name as a marketing ploy to sell things?

I hadn't even noticed until this hit the news. What I was annoyed with was that they started using them on Nov. 1. Can't we just wait a bit? They need to have cups for Thanksgiving, THEN move on to red cups for December. It's no wonder I'm sick of Christmas before it ever gets here. I say the same thing! I am so tired of Christmas by December. I used to love Christmas, but all the getting stuff out in stores in August, it just isn't the same. I feel like I have seen enough of it by Dec. Halloween cups in Oct., Thanksgiving cups in Nov. sounds fun to me! And I love their red cup! It makes me think Christmas.

I am seriously so done with people who feel like they have exclusive ownership of a holiday and need huge corporations to acknowledge this exclusive ownership via marketing practices and product design. If I was Christian, the last thing I'd want would be for a huge corporation to be using my religious beliefs to further their profits. I'd agree with you, but if Hershey's stop releasing these: I'd go all pea livid. They can wrap those suckers in devils with directions directly to hell - but RELEASE them

My Facebook is filled with articles about the Starbucks cup, but I have yet to see anyone ACTUALLY complain about it. I live in the Bible belt, and I have lots of denominations represented in my feed (both priests/preachers and laity). The people who are usually up in arms about "Christ being taken out of Christmas" are fairly represented in my feed, as are those who just want to "live and let live." I don't know who it is who is really complaining about this cup, and the red and green screams Christmas to me. The reaction I have witnessed makes me wonder if this is just a publicity stunt.

But they sell "Christmas Blend" coffee and you don't see atheists or Muslims shitting their pants over that.

I didn't realize this was a faith issue. IMO, if I'm going to pay a salary to a graphic artist for their talents I don't want a plain red cup. Plain up with no design I can do and save my company a large chunk of special seasonal design budget. It's actually not a plain red cup. It has a subtle (perhaps too subtle) gradient, darkening as you go down the cup. Said design team also redesigned the cold cups, the sleeves and all the holiday coffee bags. Each on their own don't look very special, but I'll tell you, I think the solid bold colors look really great in the store when you put it all together.

These are the kind of preachers that try to make message current by bashing smurfs or Star Wars. Crazy. When I look at the cup it looks more Christmasy than ever, with bright red and green.
I saw on FB a tongue in cheek post about Golden Corral (?) not celebrating either, but offering free meals to Vets on Veterans Day. As- If changing your paper cup is only way to do good work!

I don't drink coffee and I look forward to the cups and gift card designs each year. Isn't that weird? I like a good seasonal graphic.yes, I'm a marketing teams dream! I love the red. If my faith depends on a paper cup I've got bigger issues than a coffee joint can handle.

I am "friends" with a lady on FB that knew my mother way back when and she is bent all out of shape about Starbuck's red cup. The funny part is she doesn't even live within a 50 mile radius of a Starbuck's and doesn't even drink coffee I am so sick of "Christians" like her. They seem so afraid that everyone is out to get them. If God is so awesome, wouldn't he protect them from the likes of them?

One bright side about plain red cups is that people can draw their own pictures/symbols on them. Problem solved.

Isn't that a picture of the blessed virgin on the cup?

Personally, I loved the "figgy pudding" Starbucks coffee collar. It was so adorable. I even scrapbooked one. Very clever.
