How's your week going? Any goals for the week?
I'm on track so far - strength training yesterday & 4 miles this morning. I hope to get two more days of strength training in and two more runs, with my long run somewhere between 8-10 miles on Saturday.

I never participated in the running threads on the old board, but I think I'll join here!
I returned to running after 2 years off in March. I was useless and only now beginning to feel like I can do it again!
That said, I was away camping for two weeks and couldn't run. Boo. Had a great short run to remember what it feels like last night.

So far I am on track with my walking. I had to cut back the strength training to every other day. It was really putting a strain on my back and I don't want to do anything to hinder my progress.

I am trying to get into a daily routine here since getting my Fitbit. The heat and humidity has been horrific here lately! I work 3-11 at a hospital so I am going to try to walk the halls (in the a/c) on my 30 minute lunch break each day. Starting today!

I walked/ran 2.6 miles this morning in 94% humidity. Yuck! Is it fall yet? lol But I am feeling much better about my first 5K this weekend. I may be slow, but I'm confident that I will finish it now.

I'm really trying to exercise daily, even if it's only a walk. I've been doing a loop from my house (walking, but fast) every day for almost 2 weeks now. Today was my 2nd best time ever: 1.83 miles in 28:05. My legs have really been hurting, though, and I know it's time for new shoes. I ordered new ones this morning - going back to Brooks Adrenalines - and I can't wait for them to arrive.

I am able to get in my 2.25 mile walk at lunch every day, but running is on again off again. Last week was great with our record cool temperatures in the 70's. I ran last night but today we are under a heat advisory with the heat index at 102 and 51% humidity. While I prefer hot weather to cold, over 100 is too much for even me.
I have the Diva Dash this Saturday and am looking forward to that, I'm just glad it's early in the morning.

I am not a runner but in the last 5-6 weeks, I have gotten back into walking. For the first time ever, I am walking outside vs. on a treadmill. I actually haven't walked on a treadmill in a long time. I have an elliptical at home and I have used that instead for a number of years. Over the last couple of years, I have been dealing with a lot of foot and ankle issues. First I fractured one ankle in two places. In March, I missed a step and fell twisting my other ankle. It was swollen huge and was black and blue all over. Doctor said that I messed up ligaments. This is still not 100% healed. I am also dealing with Plantar Faciitis in both feet but mostly my right foot. I decided I had to quit making an excuses and get back into walking and deal with the pain.
So.......I went to a running store and bought an awesome pair of shoes! I have been walking Monday through Friday every week. I take off on the weekends. I am now walking a 10k every day and my pace is very close to what it was when I used a treadmill. I think if I were back on a treadmill where I didn't have to deal with curbs, cross walks, etc. I would easily be walking at the pace I used to walk. I am currently walking a little under 5 mph. I don't have an accurate time or distance today because I hit the pause button accidentally on Map my Fitness app but it was similar to yesterday. Yesterday I walked 6.32 miles in 1:20:55 for an average pace of 12:49 per mile. I am trying to make sure I walk at least 5 miles but prefer if I have time to walk a little over 6.

I rested Sunday and then ran yesterday and today. Today and tomorrow I am traveling and did my run in the hotel gym. I think I am addicted!
I agree and applaud y'all running in the humidity. When I am home I run at 5:45 am to avoid it!

Thanks! I am a fast walker. This is one reason I don't ever walk with anyone else. Not many people can keep up and if I am out walking for exercise, I don't want to be slowed down. I am on a mission and have a goal I want to meet. LOL Walking outside, I think my fastest mile was about 12:15. Not too bad. On the treadmill, I used to set it at 5 mph and go. I thought of it as my babysitter. I had no choice but to walk that fast. LOL

I'm on week 7 of my half marathon training. I had to skip to 2 workouts last week, but back on track. Did 3 mi yesterday and 5 mi today. Not too excited for my 9 mi due to the extreme heat (yes, even at 6am) on Saturday but will get it done.
Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with training? I love that it keeps me accountable but hate that on days like today, I didn't really want to run. But of course, when I finished I felt happy that I did it. I know if I don't have a goal/race to look forward to, I would only run 2-3x/week.

I agree about having a race as a goal. I have a 5k on 9/20 and am hoping/planning to run the whole thing. i would like to do it in 33 mins or less, that was my best time 10+ years ago when i was a runner before. I need to find another race to do after that though All in all, i really enjoy running right now. I have been traveling for work and ran in the hotel gym the last 2 days. That is unheard of for me.

My third pair I actually wore them for years (had 3 or 4 pairs). I don't remember why I switched to New Balance - probably just wanting something different. Dumb. LOL!

I'm back running again!
After 13 days of only walking, I got 3.25 of running in this morning, cast and all. I'll see how my wrist feels later, hopefully this will work. It is odd running with a cast on my left arm - it feels awkward and I have to get used to wearing my garmin on my right wrist.

Candygurl, I feel the same way about training. I really dread the long training runs. Blech, but I guess they gotta get done. I'm about the same place in my half training. Four miles in Monday, track on Tuesday, speed workout on Thursday, and probably an 8-9 mile run on Sat. I really need to work some more yoga/strength training into my schedule.
I have an an appointment with the PT that is doing some myofascial release therapy on Thursday to help with my tendinitis and plantars. He will probably tell me not to run so all my training plans might be in the toilet for a bit. Frustrating, but the crap isn't going to heal if I don't rest.

just found this board! I'm really not a runner, tho I did a 5k last year. I got a Garmin Vivofit fitness watch, and have been trying to get in my 10000 steps a day. Now that I'm home most days (retired) I can not believe how few steps I get in! Add to that the ungodly heat and humidity the past few weeks (heading into the 90's again) and I have been woosing out! Glad to have another source of inspiration!
Walked/jogged 3 miles along the river this morning and did my 30 day fitness challenges. I'm doing the Ab-Squat challenge and the Little Black Dress challenge. Last month I did the ab challenge. I find the little daily challenges to be good for me.
