"Hello,
We have determined that you may have manipulated Customer Reviews. As a result, you may no longer post reviews on Amazon.com, and your reviews have been suppressed.
Any attempt to manipulate ratings, feedback, or Customer Reviews is prohibited.
To learn more about this policy, please see our Customer Review Creation Guidelines (http://amazon.com/help/customer-reviews-guidelines).
Best regards, Thank you. Amazon.com"
So after days and days of trying to find out what the heck was going on with my one review that was taken down, they have not responded with anything at all until this email today telling me I can't review anything anymore? Way to suck, Amazon. And yes, I called them again and am waiting on a response within 24 freaking hours. They told me that line for well over a week when I was calling every single day trying to get some information. Every day I was promised an email within 24 hours and I never got one. How can you fix something that you don't even know is wrong?

Why would you spend days and days worrying about a review on a product?
That seems...odd.
You care this much about leaving a review on a random product on amazon?

I have to agree with myshelly, why on earth would you worry about this? Now if they were to refuse my orders, then I would worry! Otherwise, what's the big problem?

It has to do with if you get a discount on something in exchange for an honest review. Sellers need reviews. If they gave me a discount I feel like I owe them a review because that was part of the deal. And I gave honest reviews, not all got good reviews. Some did, some didn't. The thing is, when I got wind that there might be a problem I tried to get right on it to fix it, if there was something wrong. They never ever responded with any information at all until now. And that email isn't really information, more like a big F U. Way to suck Amazon when I was trying to do things right. I don't even know what manipulating customer reviews means. I gave honest feedback. What more are they asking for?

So, they're right, you are participating in gaming the ratings system. It's ridiculous to argue with them because you are doing what they say. Even if your review is honest, receiving a discount in order to do the review at all IS manipulating the system.
Move on.

I usually ignore the reviews that say they got a discount for their review because I feel like they might be saying good things just because they got a discount. I'm sure some are honest reviews but I don't know who is telling the truth and who isn't.

Did you mention in your reviews that you received a discount on the product? Yes, I did mention it on the discounted items. Not everything was discounted though.

Personally I find the practice annoying. Last night I was shopping for an item, and it seemed like 7-10 of the reviews were people who received a discount for their review. I ended up not purchasing and am trying to find an alternative.

I'm sure some are honest reviews but I don't know who is telling the truth and who isn't. I have done reviews of free products and if the product sucked. I said so. If it was as expected or better I say so. I also very clearly state it was free product as that is what the company that I wrote the reviews said to do. No idea what they didn't like. I have only written one there for a product I revieved free. Most of the reviews I have written went back to the company not to the public and I figure honest feedback is better than just saying everything is wonderful if it wasn't.

Within the last 6 months so I think, the Amazon seller boards were buzzing with it when the crackdowns began. I believe they still allow them to an extent, there are certain rules that have to be followed by both the seller and the buyer.

What might have happened (just speculating since I don't know what your review says and am taking you at your word) is this:
You get a free/highly discounted product. You write a poor review of said product. Seller of product doesn't like your poor review, so he flags the review as inappropriate. Amazon Bot sees the flag, looks at the review, possibly takes something out of context and removes the review. Amazon sends you a canned email. You get pissy with Amazon In the mean time either the same seller as before, another seller, or some other random person flags another of your reviews as inappropriate. Amazon Bot thinks '2 issues in 1 week, I don't have time to deal with this crap' and says no more reviews for you. You post here. Amazon doesn't care because they have something like 250 BILLION other buyers and potential reviewers. You may or may not hear from Amazon eventually but I'll be surprised if they allow more reviews from you because frankly paid reviewers really don't help Amazon, they only help their sellers and only marginally at best.
That's my best guess anyhow.

I appreciate that you do the right thing. I can't, however, trust that everyone is like you. I absolutely HATE that Amazon allows people to have been given a product in order to write a review. I trust Amazon reviews a lot. I don't trust anyone who has been given the product to write a fair review. I just do not. I appreciate that you do, but you can see that I can't trust that review, right?
I think unless you have purchased the product from Amazon, you should not be allowed to write a review.

I think unless you have purchased the product from Amazon, you should not be allowed to write a review. I agree with this. But I have to ask, am I the only one who's simply too lazy to go review the products I buy from Amazon?
