We saw Aladdin and Rocketman over the weekend.
I loved Aladdin a lot more than I thought I would - it was so well done and I thought Will Smith was a great genie. The costumes and sets were beautiful. Just like with Robin Williams, I thought the genie was part Genie and part Will Smith...if that makes sense.
Rocketman was great. It wasn't what I was expecting though. I didn't realize that it was a musical in the sense that the actors would break out in song, but after the first song or two, I was used to it and really enjoyed it. I thought the order they mixed in the songs went along well with the story. My brother was a huge Elton John fan - I wonder what he would have thought of the movie? I knew he didn't have a great childhood but didn't realize his parents were so un-loving. Thank goodness for his Nan.

I FINALLY watched A Star is Born a few nights ago. Wow! I’d not seen the other 2 versions so no comparisons for me, but I thought it was great! It got a little draggy towards the end, but that’s ok. I thought everyone did a fantastic job!

We took our four grand-kids, ages 4 to 9, to see Secret Life of Pets 2 this past week-end. We all enjoyed it. I'm a big Kevin Hart fan so I laughed quite a bit.

We saw the documentary / movie called The Biggest Little Farm today. It was fabulous! DH said anybody that has children over the age of 10 or so should take their kids to see this movie.

I got to see an advance screening of "Yesterday" - it was so good. The music was great, of course, and Ed Sheeran was so funny. It is so nice to see an adult movie that doesn't have foul language, sex, nudity or violence but it just a good and clever story. I wasn't sure that the male/female lead had a lot of chemistry - it seems a little forced - but other than that, I really enjoyed it. There was a couple of unexpected surprises. I'd give it 4 stars.

Toy Story 4 starts tonight. Who's going? My daughter's BFF and her mom is on vacation so we are waiting for them to get back to go as a group.

We've been on a movie kick recently! Last week we saw Rocket Man. I didn't like it. It appears that I am not the Elton John fan I thought I was (I didn't like his farewell tour show at all either). I didn't know he was a prodigy and admire his talent, that he overcame addiction and has raised a ton of $$ for Aids/HIV but that's it.
We also saw Godzilla - so much fun!! There was much more story to it than I expected and I can't wait for the sequels. Oh and Mothera was just beautiful!!
Since we saw John Wick 3 without seeing the first 2 movies, we watched them this past weekend. Getting some of the background helped and they were good action films.
DH still wants to see Aladdin. We want to see Toy Story 4 and I'd like to see American Woman.

We saw Toy Story 4 over the weekend. It was cute (as all of them are) and the new characters were fun. I kept hearing how sad it was and it wasn't as sad as I expected it to be (I didn't cry and I cried a couple of times during Toy Story 3)
Personally, I wish it had ended differently. Although I enjoyed Toy Story 4, I wish they would have ended the series after Toy Story 3, I just thought that was a really good way to wrap up everything.

my dh saw "the last black man in San Francisco " today.. it is a documentary. he said the theater was silent at the end. very powerful very well done and dealt with larger issues than just the implication of the title.

My 18-yr.-old son, a huge, huge Toy Story fan, felt the same way. He thought the ending was so sad. I think this ending leaves it open for adding more movies to the series. I loved some of the new characters as well. Lisa

Saw Toy Story 4 last night and we all liked it. I didn't cry as much as I did with the other ones but I did tear up a couple of times.

Saw the new Spider-Man last night. We liked it! Tim Holland is adorable. Not a big fan of Zendaya as MJ. Gosh, Jake Gyllenhaal is so easy on the eyes.

We saw Aladdin on July 4th - it was better than I expected. Wil Smith did a good job and the music was wonderful.
We also saw Men in Black last month. It's what I expected with a clever twist at the end.
Yesterday, Spiderman and Lion King are on deck plus probably a few others I can't remember. Every time we go to the movies, there's always 3 or 4 new ones coming out we'd like to see.

We just saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which is Quentin Tarantino fictitious take on Charles Manson and his gang. The movie is a dark, dark comedy/drama and has a bunch of stars that I didn't even realize were in the movie until I got home and Googled the cast. Luke Perry was in it and Damien Lewis did an incredible Steve McQueen. DH kept insisting it somehow WAS Steve McQueen from old footage. If you like Tarantino, you'll more than likely enjoy this movie.

Saw "once upon a time" last week and really enjoyed it. It was nostalgic, wistful, funny, sad, with a touch of the trademark Tarantino violence.

Saw 'Once Upon a time in Hollywood' last weekend. It was long, nostalgic, sad, funny and unusual. I think the 2nd half was better than the first...Acting was awesome. Not your typical Tarentino movie in a lot of ways but in the end I liked it.

I just came home from watching "The Kitchen".
Good movie with a lot of swearing and it was messy/bloody.
McCarthy, Haddish & Moss were great in their roles.

Just got home from seeing The Art of Racing in the Rain. Critics dislike it, audiences generally love it. It was funny, sad, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. And stars Milo Ventimiglia so there's that. And the golden retriever co-starred!

DH and I enjoyed this the other night. Not only the love story (between Vanessa Redgrave & Terrence Stamp), but the FUN choir that she sings with. Any by "FUN", I mean a group of elderly British people singing Salt -n- Peppa's "Let's Talk About Sex" It streams on Netflix.....Here's a clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7l3YNpkCKo

We're kinda craaazyyyy about doggies and love these movies, but I always grab a box of Kleenex before we start.
