You will frequently be in the situation of being incredibly thirsty but have to pee all the time too. Come on, isn't this a closed system?
Sometimes you will just have a cute pregnant belly, and sometimes your entire body including your nose ass, and (as previously mentioned)feet will be pregnant as well.

The changes your body goes through are for the convenience of the baby, not you.
For you, they can be a major PITA.

The first orgasm after birth may hurt more than feel good. Felt like I pulled a muscle.

I learned recently that if you're planning on becoming pregnant, you should start prenatal vitamins. I can't remember the percentage she told me, but that it significantly decreases risk of defects with the baby. Biotin

I thought food cravings were a myth....they're not! When DH didn't bring home the correct apples (and I was waiting by the front door), I cried and cried. Poor guy, he had to go to the store to buy the green ones!
and hyperemesis isn't fun....I hadn't thought it would get so bad that I lost weight the first five months of my second pregnancy. Ended up in hospital for nearly two weeks....

Every story that a person tells you about their delivery will likely not happen to you. The more you try to control your delivery, the less likely it will go as you planned.
Get What to expect when you are pregnant. A good book for dad is called Dads pregnant too.
You are going to receive a TON of advice. Don't dismiss everything you hear but don't take everything to heart either.
I had an emergency csection and 8 months later, sex is still painful. Rug burn for sure.
Eat well during your pregnancy. Your weight will NOT likely fall off and you magically will be 40 lbs lighter after birth. If you are nursing and think you will burn extra calories doing that, yeah, that didn't work for me either.
Enjoy every single but of attention, showers, belly touches, kicks, etc.
If you don't feel totally comfortable with your OB, find a new one. Take the birthing classes that your hospital offers. I thought I knew a TON..but I learned a lot.
Yes, hemroids are horrible and so is morning sickness..but you may not have any of that..so take each day as it comes.
Congratulations!!

That once your water breaks, it just keeps flowing. Read a million books and no one ever mentioned it. Cut to being in labor and I was walking around like a damn slug leaving slime behind me. Ugh.

Yep. Especially with #1--I reached the point where I was okay with just inviting people in by the truckload. "Yeah, sure, people, come check out my cervix!"

If you don't like your OB Doctor you can switch.
One of my friends had a grossly thin female one who said the most hateful things to her about any weight gain. She would cry after every appointment. That woman is no longer an OB.

Morning sickness is a misnomer. It can be just first thing when you get up, but it can also last all. damn. day. It can happen only at night, it can be a mid afternoon hassle. Brushing your teeth can make you gag to the point of vomiting. Your husbands body odor can be offensive. The smell of the air conditioner in your car will make you hurl. It doesn't even have to be a scent that someone else can smell, if you smell it, it will bug you.
It has been 18 years since I was pregnant and I still get slightly queasy walking through the soap aisle when shopping. Every single soap, bar and liquid, had a particular scent that would make me so nauseous that even the unscented varieties would make me vomit. For some people, that scent sensitivity will remain with you for life. (My mom still talks about a brand of perfume that still bothers her.)

That not every person loves being pregnant and feels wonderful. For some people the pregnancy itself is a really bad physical experience. People will make you feel like a freak and be quite judgmental about this. But it will have absolutely no bearing on how much you love your child, whether you will be a good parent or that you will want to have more children.

Did not know about biotin.

The bottom of boobs touching the top of a belly is super gross. And along those lines... Make sure you dry the underside of your boobs VERY well after a shower. I learned to really listen to grannies when it comes to a lot of things, and pregnant under-boob sweat is just ... gross. I live in Florida so it was unavoidable-but one day listening to a couple of older women in the waiting room at the OB's I overheard them talking with a very heavily pregnant woman with boobs that were the size of watermelons (not really but you how they grow) and they told her to use stick deodorant up under there in the crease. Turns out, it is actually a pretty darn helpful hint and one that works really well to help with sweaty grossness. (Which reminds me of something else. Don't be surprised if you need to change your deodorant during and/or after baby because your body chemistry changes and what you used may not work for you any more.)

I think I would have been able to nurse my twins longer if I'd have had kellymom.com. It's the best lactation website out there. I was able to go for 3 years with kid #3.
Also, for supply, oatmeal and beer (non alcoholic works, it's about the barley) are a nursing mom's best friends!

Not everyone has food cravings while pregnant.
You can get your period only 3 months after baby is born while breastfeeding constantly. You will be greatly disappointed when that happens.
You can also have your period for the first few months you're pregnant (which will cause you to assume that you aren't pregnant, until...SURPRISE!!1!)
Back labor feels entirely different than regular labor and all those birthing classes will not prepare you for back labor.
I've heard that if the baby has a lot of hair, you will have heartburn while pregnant, but my babies just had peachfuzz, so I haven't experienced that one.

Also, you may have to get someone else to help with the grocery shopping at some point. My morning sickness (at night too) had me running out of the store to vomit after experiencing the sights and smells of the butcher/seafood/cheese aisle.

One more. Standing barefoot on a cold tile floor can help get rid of your leg cramps. Don't know why, but it worked.

Really enjoy not having a period for 9 months, but know that you will have all 9 of them at once after the baby is born.
I scoffed at books that had wimpy little postpartum exercises like Day 1: Turn your head from side to side, Day 2: Raise and lower your arms 5 times. But when the time came, I could barely move, and those exercises were WORK.
If you have an episiotomy, you may not be able to roll over in bed without help.
Sometimes babies are born with perfectly round heads and no soft spot. The baby will be beautiful, but you will not be able to walk for a week.

Like someone else mentioned, when you can finally push (the urge came hours before they would let me, as I wasn't dialated enough), it can last more than one or two pushes. All the vids showed 3 pushes and out - I pushed for 5 HOURS. Heartburn - was horrible, and she had only a little hair. Back labor is horrible, and don't get the fluid injections in your back that they recommend, as that was the most painful experience of my life (worse than pushing a 9lb 9oz baby out of my 135 lb body), and didn't help at all. But my beautiful daughter was well worth everything.

and it will be a long time before you manage to finish a drink before it's cold. Or a meal while it's still hot.

Walking by the raw chicken aisle in the grocery store can be nauseating!
If you take the entire container of cut up cucumbers at Golden Corral and put them on your plate while you are pregnant, no one will say a word!
I expected the worst and longest labor in the history of pregnancies and went into labor at 3:00 p.m. and was holding my adorable, cutest baby boy in the world at 7:10p.m. while I watched election results on TV. Fast and furious!
Enjoy the journey!

Unfortunately, the whole "breast-feeding exclusively will keep away your period" thing is just not true for everyone. So, don't expect it, but if it does happen for you, consider it a gift. Also "breast-feeding exclusively is a contraceptive" doesn't work for everyone, either. Use a backup. I can relate to this, my oldest two daughters are only 13.5 months apart.

Okay, just one more. After delivering your sweet bundle of joy, you will sweat like a beast for several weeks (often at night) while you're getting rid of all the excess fluids you've retained. On a more positive note, all that sweating helps you lose a little weight!

Wow - I'm surprised by how many other people craved apples or apple juice.
I never realized how painful my belly button trying to push out would hurt! It never really came all the way out like a lot of folks, it was super sensitive and hurt like a mother.
I had insomnia my 8th and 9th month, woke up at 3am couldnt get back to sleep.
If you have a c-section, be sure to have people around you that have been through that. My wonderful sister was by my side for 2 weeks after I gave birth, but she had v-births for both her kids. She did not realize how much more recuperation was required when she insisted I needed to get up and get out of the house one week after giving birth. Walked me all over Target! Um, hello, major surgery!
Oh...and the bleeding after...yikes! First time I went to the restroom in the hospital, it looked like a murder scene in there. I apologized to the nurse it was so bad.

Sex after delivery is PAINFUL! We're talking feels like a rug burn!. you're supposed to wait an hour or two Lol. We waited like 8 WEEKS! Horrible. My doctor (yesterday) told me it would be painful most likely. I told her that it would have been nice to be armed with that knowledge with the first kid. She is not the same doctor I had the first time!

I have no idea if it's common that they weigh you post birth or it was just me due to pre eclampsia and water weight, but I had an almost 8 pound baby, the other yuck like placenta which must weigh something, all that blood...and was 2 pounds heavier than when I went I to labor! That is downright disconcerting, right there. Retaining water is the culprit, so don't take it personal and break down sobbing you will be huge forever. Also the belly does not magically shrink- I truly had no idea. Instead of a hard big belly I had a soft lumpy big belly...it's really awful. It does go away, obviously, but it isnt close to instant like I thought!
