I went to school with a LOT of Jennifers, since I too was born in the 70s. None of them had two Fs ... but I do know one Jenniffer. Two Ns, two Fs. And I have to double check it every time, cause it just seems wrong.

I've not heard of a Jeniffer, either. I kinda like Ginnifer, but I think it's more because I really like Ginnifer Goodwin. (dh really likes Once Upon a Time)
I have a "unique" name, Micah, and it's more trouble than it's worth. It being a boy's name makes it worse.
In French, the spelling of the Old Testament book of Micah is spelled Michee. (with an accent over the c, but that's too much trouble to write on my laptop.) I think that might be where Micheal comes from.
My family calls me Mimi. My dh and my dad shortened it to Meem. On facebook dh calls me M. He rarely calls me Micah. Whenever family calls me that, I feel like I'm in trouble or they're gonna say something serious.
I understand different spellings because of different ethnicities--the descendants of British immigrants use Geoffrey, etc.
Adding extra letters or archaic spellings just to be unique can be irritating.
I do like Jaime--cause in French it means I love (J'aime). When dh and I went to the historic Grove Park Inn, one of the front desk receptionists volunteered to take us around to show us the historic rooms--like the one where F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed. We got to talking about names because of mine. When I told her what Jaime means in French, she thought that was so cool. I totally fit her, too.

A friend of mine has full custody of her grandchildren. DGD is named Geniffer (Geni), and DGS is is Kenith (Keni). Both were named after relatives that use the common spelling. Mom wanted to "update" the old people names.

Yep, apparently a friend from high school named her daughter Jeniffer. She always refers to her on Facebook that way, but I think her daughter rebelled at some point and went traditional with the spelling. Whenever mom tags her, she has to use Jennifer, normal spelling.

I read Love Story in 1970, and though I was only 13, I never forgot her name. Jennifer Cavalleri.
4 years later, my best friend died of leukemia.
