But I do often see signs on other drive thrus, mainly fast food, that say no walk-ups allowed. If the business was open I'd just go inside.

It wouldn't even register on my radar. Most of the bank branches here only have ATMs you can drive up to, often in the same area where the drive up teller windows are. The only ones that have walk up ATMs are those inside the grocery stores or gas stations or the handful that are inside their own little glass enclosure.

At the ATM no big deal. I wouldn't complain about it...of course a person walking up the drive thru ATM is probably quicker than I am driving up to it. My car window is fickle in heat and on rainy days so if it doesn't roll down I have to open the door..but I'm short so usually I still can't reach the ATM and get half way out. Sometimes I get all the way out if I still can't reach or if I can't read the screen because of the glare. Nothing fast about me at the drive thru ATM.

There's a bank by me on a major intersection. The ATM is in the lane closest to the sidewalk. It's probably ten steps from the sidewalk. If there's a walk-up ATM in the bank, you'd have to cross the distance of five drive up lanes and half the bank building to get to any spot where there could possibly be a walk-up ATM. And that location is very, very hidden from view, compared to the ATM near the sidewalk.
So people walk up to that ATM all. the. time.

I haven't read the other responses, so this may be a repeat, but in my area, there are signs in every drive up place from take out restaurants to my bank that all have a sign that you will not be waited on if you are not in a car - you have to go inside for service. I never thought about it before, and I've never seen anyone walk up to a drive through line. Your post made me remember the signs that I see all the time as I am waiting for service. I don't know why they won't wait on someone that walked up, but that is what they all post around here.
