This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I can't believe it will be August in a couple of hours. The summer is almost over. I walked into Hobby Lobby the other day and they were putting out all their Christmas stuff. Where does the time go? Be back tomorrow to chat.

Thanks for the new thread Nylene! I hope to get a lot of scrapping done in August. Right now I am attempting making a ink pad holder made from foam board. I am to the point of gluing it together which I will do tomorrow as I am getting so sleepy! Thanks again for thethread and I will check back tomorrow

nylene - thank you for the new thread! scrapincin - be sure to show us your finished ink holder, and tell us how you did it, I bet we will all want one. I had a Sccraftastic Saturday and Sunday - so while I will be posting my projects to the August thread, technically they were completed in July - I am hoping to keep up the scrafting mojo through the month of August as well. I am hoping to blow up the Pokey thread with all my projects. It feels sooooooooo good to have gotten so much completed. First up is a page using an OLD photo. I have so many printed photos I need to get scrapped. My current process is to scrap the pages with temporary photos (printed from the computer to scrap paper) and then once the page is complete I place the photo on order. But I must tackle the pile of already printed photos and get those scrapped. So I grabbed this photo of a dog we had back in about 1996. It's kind of a sad story, but I needed to include it for my pet album. Sadie Girl by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr My second page to post today is one of the brochure insert pages that I spoke to you about in the June or July thread. I am wanting to include these brochures with my travel pages, but I didn't want to make an actual 12 x 12 to put them on. Ever since I saw the Fuse released I thought it would work perfectly to help me with creating pages that I can insert into my albums and still easily access the brochures/documents. It took me a long time to get up the courage to purchase the Fuse and try it, but I finally did, and it worked exactly as how I wanted it to. I will share these pages with you over the course of this month. brochure - treehouse cottages by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Well, I am starting the week of with a New Attitude (thank you Patty LaBelle for that song). It is amazing what a day of playing with pretty paper can do for your soul. Have a absolutely superb day Pokeys!

Welcome to August! Need to change the page on the family calendar. Which reminds me I have not yet completed next years' July page. Need to get going on that. Don't want to have them pile up and become overwhelming when I have to have them ready for printing. I can't believe it is August. And I can't believe that I am contracted to work this week at the college. Most of my weekend was dedicated to "not getting behind" on the garden front. Picked, shelled and froze peas. Baked the last saskatoons into puddings to eat and freeze. Made some jelly, picked/cut out veggies that may not make it through the three days I will be gone. Dd & family are here for their long weekend. They helped with some picking, and they will be taking some fresh farm produce home with them. Yesterday we all went out to the lake to visit my niece & family where they are camping. Dgs got to play in the water and on the beach and we ended up with a weiner roast. Thanks for setting up the thread again, nylene ! scrapincin , that ink holder sounds interesting. Would love to see it. maribeth , glad you had such a creative weekend. Doesn't it just replenish the energy? I will comment on your pages in the Gallery later. Don't forget to check out the August challenges. I volunteered to stand in for Chinagirl828 this month for the Stash Challenge and the Bonus Challenge. I need to post my sample for the bonus challenge, and I want to play along with the Stash challenge if I ever get back into my scraproom. Have a good day! Off to fix breakfast...

Good Morning and Welcome in August! I can not believe it is August already either! My grands go back to school on the 17th! Their summer flew buy! But I will get to see them daily again! I am going to post a pic of my ink pad holder but be aware that there are errors . I will be honest with you and tell you making one of these takes a lot of work, patience and time. You have to measure each and every piece, and learning to cut the foam board takes time. Buy an extra piece to practice on. If you press too hard on your exacto knife the foam inside the foam board will clump up. You need to use an exacto knife with a number 11 blade-buy extra to make sure it is sharp as the dull blade makes it more difficult. I used the dimensions from the Organize More version of these premade ones. It should hold 60 ink pads but my would only hold 11 shelves so it holds 55. There are a couple of shelves that are crooked and sorry but they are staying that way as it is hard to undo hot glue. But it will work for me for a while. I may try another one another time. But I will tell you they are a lot less expensive then the premade ones-$`10.00 compared to 60 plus. There are several videos on You Tube that show various ways of making these and you have to find the system that works for you. IMG_9205 by Cindy Blair, on Flickr grammadee you sound like you had a very busy yet accomplished weekend! You are going to have lots of yummy things to eat this winter! @meribeth- you got a lot of good crafting done! Wow I will be visiting the gallery. I am glad the fuse worked out well for you. I will check back after while to catch up on chatter!

scrapincin , your ink holder is great! I have tried to cut that foam core and it's not easy. I have great admiration for your cutting skills. I know you will enjoy it. Are you finished with helping your neighbor? Does she plan to give a copy to other relatives? I can't believe that it's time for school to start. Ours starts on the 22, but I don't usually need to be there for the first 2 weeks. It takes that long to evaluate which children need the extra reading instruction. grammadee , I just spotted a couple of your layouts in the gallery. It looks like you have so much fun with your grands. Good luck in teaching AND keeping up with the garden. I hope you don't wear yourself out. maribeth , I love your pages. That fuse worked exactly as you wanted. That's such a prettier way to include the memorabilia than the way I do it....drop it in a page protector where it slides all over. The AC warehouse had a special on the Fuse, but I couldn't think why I would need it. I may be rethinking! Waving to all our other Pokeys. I hope you have a great week. Here is one of the layouts I finished. This one has my first detailed cut from my Silhouette (thanks, Cindy). It's a file I had wanted to cut with my Cricut but was afraid it wouldn't cut well. It cut beautifully except one tiny spot that I had to use my scissors. I am loving this machine. I have lots left to learn but I can do the things I really want and need right now. It's August! I am like you all so surprised this year is just flying by. Thanks Nylene for the new thread too. We had a quiet weekend and enjoyed watching several old movies with dh. Glad you all did too. grammadee - Looks like you did get so much done between the garden and the preparation for your class. Those jellies you made sound yummy. I have never canned veggies or fruit. What a great way to preserve you Summer bounty. scrapincin - Girl, you did a great job on your ink holder. It looks fabulous to me and I know your area will feel more organized with your ink nicely housed. Great job!!! maribeth - SO happy to hear you got your scrappin' on! Good for you and I hope you can get more going this month. nylene - Look at you! Your skill with that new sil is wonderful. WOW! I know you are happy to be using your machine.

Day 2 of my pages share...... Carter by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Hubby's newest great grand baby. This is made in my traditional way, grabbed a photo off of Facebook, printed it on scrap paper and will now put it in my cart to order the real print. I like this way best since I don't get a bunch of photos that I never scrap. brochure - great sand dunes by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Another one of the brochure pages scrapincin - I can so relate on cutting the foam board. I recently used some for the first time to make some dividers to put in a 12 x 12 Creative Options storage case for my border strips which I use on my National Register of Historic Places pages and my Courthouse pages. That stuff is works really well for this type of stuff, but it is a bit of a challenge to get use to cutting it. Border storage-1 by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr nylene - Love love love your page (will be going to leave love next). The cuts are fabulous. I can't get cuts like that on the Pazzle no matter how hard I try. Do you find you need to use a particular kind of paper? Are there many settings to fuss with in order to get the pressure and the blade length correct? Tell me tell me, or refer me to some good videos that show details of exactly how the sil works. kellyr21 - hubby and I watched movies this weekend too, while I scrapped. We didn't watch old ones, but it was still a fun relaxing movie/scrappy weekend. grammadee - I am trying to participate in your challenges this month, I got my thinking cap on, I hope I can come up with something. Headed to that thread now to leave some love on your pages. Waving hello to knutschen and justjac , and LisaDV Have an excellent day ladies........see you later.

maribeth, the Cameo that I have sets the pressure, etc. for you when you chose the material you are cutting. It tells you what blade setting to use, but you must set that yourself. I understand that the new Cameo 3 coming out next week will even set the blade. You can override it and that's what I did with the speed on this cut. I slowed it way down. I don't know if I needed to, but I know my Cricut couldn't be slowed and I thought some intricate things would cut better at a slower speed. I also have a brand new blade which probably helps and a new mat since I just got the machine. Thanks for sharing your projects. I can tell that Fuse is being well used. kellyr21 and LisaDV funny that you should have watched movies all weekend. DSIL set up a Roku for me in my scraproom and I watched old chick flicks all Fri. evening and Sat. I'll be back later to chat. Have a Terrific Tuesday as Maribeth would say!

Good Tuesday evening, Ladies! Today was a work day. A bit of confusion in the morning, but I have the key to the classroom now, so tomorrow morning should be easier. The students are nice, but their reading comprehension and writing speeds and attention spans vary widely. Good to see that you took some scrappy time, maribeth . Thanks for sharing with us. I left some love. nylene , seeing your posts about the silhouette really makes me miss my Wishblade. Oh well, technology marches on. I DO have a Cricut Expression, and it does a good job. To cut something like your floral design I would definitely need a new blade, a new matt and use a low speed. Also, I find that the smoothe cs cuts much more easily than the textured.

Happy first day of the 2016 Summer Olympics.....Opening Ceremonies are not until Friday, but we have two days of Soccer before the official opening day. And if you may recall I really fell in love with the game during my time with my granddaughter at a Durango Colorado tournament a few years ago, and then again while watching the FIFA tournament. So here is hoping I can get it streaming on my work computer......only downside is when the USA ladies play tonight at 4pm MST I will be getting my nails done, hope I can get it streaming on my phone! Here is another page I created this past weekend A and O Summer by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr nylene and scrapincin used my Pazzles for the sun and the banner, it will cut these larger shapes fairly well, but I can never get any intricate cuts. Are there any videos that you know of where someone just shows the sil cutting things? I would love to see it in action. maribeth , the Silhouette videos that I have watched so far haven't shown the actual cutting. Because I am just learning, I have searched out those that explain all the buttons, etc. I will keep my eyes open for any that show the actual cutting. I wonder if no one videos the actually cutting because it is noisy. It's just a little louder than the Cricut expression. About the same sound as the old Wishblade, but it would be distracting on a video if someone was trying to talk over it.I will let you know if I find one. Here's a page I did yesterday. I used the Silhouette offset button to make the layers on the title. I love that button. Made in America by Nylene Budge, on Flickr I have company coming on Friday and I've ignored my house lately, so I need to spend some cleaning time tonight and tomorrow. Be back later.

Good Evening All! I have been busy all day cleaning my scrap room! After cutting the foamboard the floor needed swept and it has been a dumping grounds again. It is not complete but I did get a lot accomplished! I am going to try and get some scrapping done tonight. I have plenty to do.
Nylene- I am so happy to see how much you are enjoying your new toy! I can't believe the new one they just released. When the Cameo came out I got one right away but I do not see why I would want one much different then what I have. I love that cutter and the tons of things you can do with it.
Maribeth- there are tons of videos over at You Tube you can watch on how to use the Cameo, but I do not know of one that shows the cutter actually working. It is pretty much automatic as you select what media you are cutting and they give you a speed and blade setting but you have the ability to slow things down, or double cut. I love this digital cutter and they update the software frequently adding new abilities with out charging. It will also cut any font on your computer, and you can import clipart and SVG files. No I do not work for them! LOL I was thinking I could video my machine doing an intricate cut and then post it over here for you to watch. I will try that.
grammadee-sure hope your day at work was more organized today. As much as you do I am sure they are getting a lot for their money.
Kelly- It has been hot here too! I am really tired of it! I looked out this afternoon and all the squash plants were laying on the ground. A little water got them revived. We are having to water every day. We have a lot of plants but not a lot of produce.
Tomorrow I have to sign up for a crop I am going to in October with my DSIL and her sisters. I am looking forward to it as I have not been to a crop for a few years! Going to get off for now but will be checking in. Waving a big hello to justjac, Jana and Lisa!

Love your pages, nylene and maribeth . Left some love in the Gallery. Hope after all that cleaning scrapincin , you will be able to PLAY! Looking forward to seeing your creations. And I'm glad you are getting to go to a crop this fall. You will have a blast. Must crawl into bed now to rest up for one more work day...

Yay first 2016 Olympic win for women's soccer yesterday. It was great seeing the team again. I enjoyed some of the other matches as well. I am able to stream the events on the computer, some have commentary some do not. I like the ones that do. scrapincin - it would be great if you could video an intricate cut sometime, I know you are busy, but if you do get an opportunity it would be great. I am so, so disappointed in my Pazzles, and this is my second one of those, I hate to put out the expense for another machine and find it does not work well. Enjoy your crop. I so wish I could find a group of ladies that I "mesh" with and we could get away and scrap. Can nylene - great page, left love. grammadee - I do hope you day goes smoother today kellyr21 , knutschen , justjac , LisaDV - waving hello to you all Here is a courthouse page for you today - this is one of the photos that photographer John Morrison donated to me for my courthouse project. Wow! Lots of gorgeousness in the thread already! I'll be leaving love after posting here. scrapincin, I thought about making on of those stamp pad holders but thought they looked like too much work. ha. I crop sounds like so much fun. nylene, thanks for posting the thread. You are so quick to learn the silhouette. Your pages are all so beautiful. It's great to be able to watch movies while scrapbooking. I have a large monitor on my computer so I just watch on that. maribeth, wow, you really got a lot of pages finished. I really love how you made your pamphlet pages with the fuse. I usually just stick them in the 8.5x11 page protector, but I will need to do this so they look cute. grammadee, don't know how you do it. You are always accomplishing so much. You make my head spin. I had to order a part for my washer so ended up having to go the laundromat yesterday - yuck! We're planning a trip to the U.P. at the end of August for ds birthday. Hubs had the idea to pop over into Canada while we're on the way. So yesterday afternoon we went back to town to put in for expedited passports for me and the kids. Since we were out, we ended up having a bit of an adventure afternoon. It was fun and relaxing. -- Today, I'm hoping to just clean up a bit. But it may be a warm one, if the kids are feeling healthy enough, a dip in the pool may be called for.

Everything just got put on hold. This past weekend, my ds finally got out legos that have been put away and has been building all week long. I told my ds he could watch the lego movie today with popcorn. So of course he wants to do that right now and wants me to watch with him. Since he'll be turning 14 later this month, I've got to jump on each and every "I want you to be involved to" moments I can get.

Hey everybody. maribeth I love the elegance of your courthouse pages. nylene I left you some love in the gallery. I love the ways you've been using your Cameo. It makes me want to get my Cricut out. scrapincin great job making your storage. I've been shopping for storage. I bought 2 Raskog carts from IKEA. I have 2 Kallax shelves on my Christmas list, but I'm terrible about waiting. I'm in the midst of trying to get my house cleaned. We bought a new cabinet to replace the storage we have above the toilet, so I'm purging bathroom stuff before the reorganization. LisaDV, our reno is small scale. We are building a garage and getting our foundation waterproofed. Once that's done we plan to work on our bathroom and basement, but that won't be for a bit. Our house was built in the 50's and so far we've just changed furniture inside and a couple of plumbing fixtures. I haven't done any layouts since our scrapathon at grammadee's, but I have done a couple of cards for birthdays. I'm also trying to use up a 6x6 paper pad making Christmas cards based on a blog post mentioned in the cardmaking forum. I'll share the Christmas cards when I finish them. I've done 4 so far, but you're supposed to be able to make 30 or more. If you click on the pic, I think it takes you to flickr. I linked the YouTube video that I lifted these cards from. It is Distress Ink with Versamark stamps and white embossing powder.

justjac , I would tackle a project like that with pleasure. Also like your techniques on your cards. I finally took a photo of a layout that only took 3 weeks to finish. It's way simple. I just didn't have time. Most of the title is cut and welded from the silhouette. I added glue and glitter to the cursive bits. Yes, I know my w in how got glued down wonky. Blowing kisses and hugs. by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr The journaling reads: Yep, that's how stinking sweet & cute you are. When you'd blow kisses, you would include a hug. 1-18-2009 3.5yrs I also spent some time putting away layouts in her albums today. Now I'm off to clean the crafty desk up.

LisaDV, you are one SMART mom. Yes, take every advantage to "be" with your children. They grow out of that phase too quickly. I give you 5 stars for watching with him. Your layout is adorable. What a little cutie! I love the journaling along the edge. Left you some love in the gallery. justjac, I found your cards in the gallery and left you some love. Thanks for the video info. I really want to try this. Your cards are gorgeous. Your remodeling still sounds like a lot of work to me. Hope you can get it done. Are you teaching right now? grammadee, how is the teaching and keeping up with produce going? Sounds like you have your work cut out for you if your students have such variety in what they need. Good luck! maribeth, your pages are great. How did you do the glittered border? Sorry your pazzles is disappointing. I know there are a million things more that I can learn about the Sil. but right now I am very happy with cutting titles and files that I find. It also has the print & cut ability and Cindy has used that. You print the image on your printer and the cutter will cut it out. Cindy also uses a pen instead of the blade and has "drawn" some beautiful things. I know that I will get my money's worth. It's funny though, the new Wishblade came out less than a month after DH bought mine, and the new Sil. is shipping this week. But I am extremely happy with what I have. Cindy is the expert if you are thinking about changing. scrapincin, thanks for giving maribeth the info on the Silhouette. I would never have bought mine without your encouragement. Now that your house is all clean and lovely, I hope you get to do a lot of scrapping. It's good for the soul. I am jealous of your Scrap Trip. I know you will have a great time together. Wish I could fly up and join you. Too bad I don't have wings! Sending love to all the Pokeys. Keep in touch. BBL

Happy Thursday! Hope you all are having a nice day. We enjoyed the concert last night. It was 90's theme music and they played mostly pop and rock songs from that decade including some tv show theme songs. At the end they played Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." The crowd really liked that and Ron and I were singing out loud right along. LOL! Then, when I came home there was the CMA country music concert on tv. Oh boy, I enjoyed hearing so many familiar songs and singing along to some. I guess last night was just my singing night! LOL! I am a newer fan so it was fun seeing the faces to some of the songs I like. I guess I gotta get some practice time in today on my sweet guitar. Tonight I am going to a card class at M's. Should be fun. LisaDV- Oh a mother's love! LOL! I hope you had fun with your ds although it wasn't what you planned. maribeth- You got your mojo back! So happy to see you scrapping again. I gotta get some more pictures so I can join the party again. justjac- Your cards look neat! I love making cards too and I hope to make more this month. scrapincin- A messy craft room is great! That means you have been having fun. That ink pad holder you made is just awesome.

I can't read a note so I truly admire those with the gift of musical talent. nylene - the glitter border is glitter paper punched with the Creative Memories Border Maker Punch. justjac - thank you for the comment about my Courthouse pages, they mean so very much to me, I know it is silly, but I just love my Courthouse project. justjac and LisaDV - great work on your projects, off to leave some love. kellyr21 , your evening out with your husband sounds wonderful! You are going to miss those concerts once the summer is over. I have to echo Maribeth and encourage you to return to your guitar. It won't be long before you will be comfortable playing. A card class at Michaels sounds like fun. I have been taking some of those free classes as Scrapbook.com and have learned a lot. Our Michaels doesn't offer classes. maribeth , don't you say your Courthouse pages are silly. That is a very meaningful project. I'm glad you are doing it and enjoying it. Thanks to all of your for your sweet comments on my layouts. You guys are the best. This is another page I recently finished. My goodness, you ladies have been busy! ITA LisaDV that when a teen asks you to sit down and watch a movie with him, you drop everything and sit down and watch! What part of Canada are you planning to visit? My ddil just texted to let me know that she and the girls would be camping in Washington state this weekend, don't know what part, but I am thinking nearby Abbotsford. Good to see all the creativity going on! Have left love in the Gallery. My day went smoothly, but it seems to be the week for small appliances to crap out. After work I met dh in a town midway between work and home. We went to Canadian Tire to pick out a new toaster oven: only one of the 4 elements in the old one was still working, so instead of toast we were just getting dried out bread. While there we found a coffee pot with a thermos carafe and decided to pick that up too since our current coffee maker is getting slower and slower. We went to a Chinese smorg for supper, then headed home. I was hoping to veg watching shows I had pvr'd, but my Shaw receiver decided that tonight was the night it was going to quit. I called Shaw and another receiver is on the way, but prob won't be here until Monday sometime at the earliest. Dh's receiver still works, but since he and I watch completely different programs, I doubt if I will be able to see what I was hoping to this weekend... In the morning I need to head out to the garden and see what needs to be picked, and then I can decide what I will be doing. Have a great evening, Ladies!

Happy Friday! grammadee, we'll be just popping over to Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario. It's about 3 hours north of us, although parts of Ontario are actually east and south of us. We're going to Porcupine Mountains in the U.P. afterwards to camp and hike and geocache. Sorry your appliances are all acting up. Good luck catching up in the garden. nylene, love your page. left you some love. Did you do the vellum flowers on the silhouette too? kellyr21, Hope you had fun at your card class. Please share what you made. Your summer concert fun makes me long for them myself. I like the small relaxed venue. I agree with everyone that you should definitely be continuing your guitar. I was hoping for rain this morning, but it never seems to come here. So I guess I'm off to work outside this morning before it gets too hot. Wishing everyone a very happy Friday. Hope everyone else gets some crafty time in.

Good Saturday morning to all! I hope your weekend is off to a good start. So far mine is. I finished a layout this morning and posted it and will link it at the end of this post! Have to get busy and whip up some pasta salad and zucchini muffins for a picnic ant the Izzaac Walton League. Looking forward to it. The big family reunion will be next week where all the photos I have been working on will be on display! I will probably take photos of the display and scrap a page about it for you girls to see. maribeth you are so dedicated to your projects and how you do an hour on the treadmill is beyond me! Do you have a treadmill where you can increase the incline and shorten the time you walk? Love your layout will leave you some love in the gallery! grammadee - In this day of all this modern technology -I mean you can check out the frig from the grocery store do you think they would make a decent toaster? I mean they never toast right and you have to put them in again or one is not toasted and the other slice is burnt! And you are lucky if they last 6 months. ok off of my soapbox! LisaDV - Aren't you sick of this heat? I mean I have to stay indoors most of the time or I get a severe headache that I can't get rid of-think it is part heat and part allergy as grass is one of my many. The grass has been dormant now for weeks. but I am like you and get out early and water and so far have not lost much. I was very upset the other day as the flowers in my birdbath were finally ready to go over the side when some critter chewed the tops off! @kelly21 - So glad you had a good time singing the other night! I get that way too when they are playing the oldies but goodies. I have an oldies station on the radio in my car. nylene - I am so loving your pages as usual but I have to say you are doing a great job with that Cameo. You have got the basics already which I knew you would! Here's my page and will be back later! Arbor Day 2016-2 by Cindy Blair, on Flickr
