Good morning All! I hope everyone's week is off to a good start! Yesterday was my friend's family reunion and the display of the men in her family who served in our country's armed services was a total hit! Every time I looked there were people looking and discussing the photos on the board. And the weather was a change it was not as steamy hot and it did rain off and on-no storms just a nice easy rain. It was quite a day. Our kids go back to school this Wednesday! I will enjoy seeing them each afternoon again. Their Dad started a new job today so things are looking up again. I worked on some cards the other night and maribeth it took me longer then 20 minutes and I only made 6 cards. LOL Getting ready to run to the store then back here to do laundry. Have a great day and I will be back later!

grammadee, so glad you were able to watch your shows. Hope your knew feels better. scrapincin, Can't wait to see those cards. My washer only held for 1.5 loads before leaking again. So I was off to the laundromat again this morning. I will call the repair man tomorrow. Don and the kids finally went fishing in his new canoe (I bought it for him for his birthday in June) and had a ball. I got to finish a page and start another one. Once I finish the current one, I'll take photos and upload.

Hi, all my Pokey friends. I'm just running by again, but hope to have more time later. Today starts registration for County Fair and I am frantically getting all the kids' items tagged and ready to be taken over to the exhibits. It seems they change the categories every year and I have to hunt for which categories their projects fit. This is a busy week, so I will drop by when I can.
I have loved seeing all your projects and I have left you some love.
Hugs to all of you. Be back later.

I got everything checked in at the Fair Grounds. There were some big items and it took 2 loads to get everything from my car in the parking lot to the registration place. I took one load in a laundry basket and must have left it sitting on a table as I went for the other load. Guess that means I can't do laundry anymore, right? Cindy, scrapincin I am so glad that your friend's scrapped pages (with your generous help) were loved and appreciated at her reunion. I'm sure that made her very happy. Congrats to your DSIL on starting a new job. I hope that works out for them. The kids will love spending more time with Grandma again! LisaDV , I am so sorry about your washing machine. Sounds like it is may be past its expiration date! I hope the repair man and give it CPR and extend its life. sbartist , I spotted your layout in the gallery here. Left you some love. grammadee , I'm glad you finally got your package. I am sorry about your knee. I tweaked my "good" knee my wrapping my leg around my chair as I was scrapping and it wouldn't unwrap without pain. I'm hoping both of our knees heel quickly. It makes me so mad when I forget and do the leg wrap thing. Take care of yours! kellyr21 , I love hearing about the art you are working on. I agree with everyone else that you need to let it flow when and as it wants. I noticed as I drove past the park in the little town where our County Fair is held, that they have been having "music or movies" in the park all summer. I had forgotten that they did that. That's where we lived while I was teaching school and DH was finishing his degree. I loved that little town! I long for a small "everyone knows everyone" town again. I'm glad you have been able to take advantage of the music in your park this summer. maribeth , how is your brother-in-law? Hugs to you and your DH. I'm glad you are getting some scrappy time. Scrapping always helps me when I'm under stress. I am loving all your brochure pages. I can't believe how much more attractive they are than the "drop in a page protector" I have been doing. Sending happy wishes to knutschen Jana, justjac , and all the other Pokeys around. Sisters by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Here's my latest page that I haven't had time to post until today.

Hello Pokeys - I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, my Monday morning sure go away from me......sometimes that just happens on Monday. Thank you for all your thoughts regarding my husbands brother. His other brother who has been estranged from the brother that is ill went to see him yesterday, so that was a bit of relief for my husband. My husband has been the sibling that everyone keeps in touch with, while the others have had difficulty in their relationship with others, so this has added to my husbands stress over the situation. My husbands sister still has not seen her brother, and it looks like she is not going to. That is very difficult as my husband and his sister were once very very close, and over the last few years, due to her new relationship (since her husbands death in 2010) she has become very distant from the entire family. ......enough of that........ Here is another Courthouse page from July 31 DUBUQUE COUNTY COURTHOUSE by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Here is another brochure page from July 31 - nylene , thank you for your kind words on the brochure page, I had struggled so much with the "drop it it the page" idea, I really wanted to present these pieces of memorabilia in a way that made them a part of my scrapbook, not just an after thought. I was just so unsure of my plan with the fuse tool. I am so glad I finally did it, I am really happy with the results. It is really easy, and a good place to use up scraps, spare stickers, etc. brochure - red cliffs lodge by Maribeth and Jim Robison, on Flickr Here is a page that I did on Saturday - which by the way was a GREAT scrappy day for me. This page is part of the album I am doing on the sweet relationship that developed between my husband and my granddaughter Twiggy. Ever since Twiggy was a baby she was always very close to her grampa, and it still exists to this day. I try to catch these intimate moments as candidly as possible. I hope to do an album flip through video as soon as I get the pages caught up which I am feverishly working on doing. Anxious to see your cards Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and I hope to see you later.

Great pages, nylene and maribeth. I left you love. nylene, enjoy fair week. I know it will be super busy. maribeth, sorry the dysfunction of your husband's family is causing him stress. I always said my family put the "dys" in front of "functional", but I let go of any stress or anxiety years upon years ago to just accept and move on. Your family is still in my prayers. I have to go figure out what I hope to accomplish today. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday!!

Good Tuesday morning, Ladies. ((((HUGS)))) maribeth as you go through this family crisis with your dh. In a few minutes, I will be driving to work this morning. They asked me to come in for the day to orient the lady who is replacing me. Love your pages, Ladies. Will leave comments tonight. Looking forward to seeing your cards, scrapincin ! Thanks for sharing the website. I have never been much of an assembly line card maker because I get bored pretty easily, but I think I could put in half an hour at it (if I could get the rest of the stuff assembled and ready to go in a reasonable time). Guess a person could create some variety with different background cs and different colours of inks. I really liked the stamping on the strips and then separating them onto different cards. I have that doily stamp (I think) so that might be something I would try. Anyway, gotta run. Have a great Tuesday!

Hello again Pokeys Boring day at work today, four of us sitting around with NOTHING to do. Oh how I wish I could go home and scrapbook. So silly that the boss won't send me home. I told him I would be glad to take time off without pay (saves him $$ and benefits my mental health). nylene and LisaDV - Yes that is a very cool lodge. It has motel style rooms as well as little duplex cabins with living room, kitchenette, bedroom with a jacuzzi tube. A wonderful deck all sitting right along the Colorado river just northeast of Moab, UT. It was gorgeous there. You can see the scrapbook pages I made of that trip here. It was a border punch nylene . LisaDV and nylene - thanks a bunch for your thoughts during this difficult time, and your comments on my pages. Well, I guess i should get back to work......oh yea there is none -LOL See ya later.

Good morning. Love your grampa/Twiggy pages, maribeth . Started leaving love, but had some issues with Flickr this morning. Hope you have a more satisfying day at work today. I survived another "last day" at work yesterday. Those students are a lively crew and take a lot of energy, but they are fun and sure make the day go quickly! Nothing really whacky about today here. Cucumber/cauliflower/green pepper mustard relish is on the to-do list. I have most of the veggies picked and washed from Monday. Just need to cut in small enough pieces to fit in the food processor's gullet. Have the jars washed and ready too, but I know this is still a full day's project. Then tonight we are going out for supper with some friends for our 48th wedding anniversary. (Hee hee! When I told the students last week how long we have been married, one asked, "So how old were you when you got married? Thirteen?") Only God and Clairol knows for sure...

Happy Anniversary Grammadee!!!! Wow 48 years. We will be 45 in October! I look like it though! LOL Well the grands went back to school today! Bobby started at a new school today. The elementary school where my girls went. He was a little worried but when he got there a girl he was friends with in second grade was there and so glad to see him. I am sure he will have had a wonderful day. We are going to get our exercise and walk down to get him this afternoon. Maggie will be here also so she can walk down with us. Her school is just a block away from our house. maribeth-your love story pages are wonderful. Left you some love yesterday and will be going over in a little while to add some to todays entries. nylene- how are things going at the fair? I would love yours, but the ones here do not have a lot to see other then animals. No sewing, no baking . i am trying to think about what I want to take to the Scrapbooking EXpo-starting with photos. I am slowly going thru my photos and going to send them to be printed then I can make page kits to take to scrapbook with. Waving a big Hi To everyone, and BBL

Hi, Pokeys! We spent all day yesterday in Salt Lake. Steve's ipad battery died and he needed to get info off at the very least. We made an appt at the Apple store to see what could be done. They were able to get it to hold a charge long enough to get everything but the photos off. Then for $99 they gave him a new ipad (same model as old one). We were afraid he would need to buy a whole new generation ipad. So that saved a lot of $. He wasn't worried about photos. He doesn't usually use it for photos. Then we went to Johnny Rocket's 50's Diner for dinner and caught the Frontrunner train home. It was fun to get away together. I have not been back to see the final judging of the kids' projects at the Fair. We will go back over this afternoon or tomorrow morning. We have a huge section of Home Arts (adults) entries. Usually about 50 quilts and all kinds of other pretty things. The 4-H section usually has between 1500 and 2000 exhibits. scrapincin, I'm sorry your Fair doesn't have fun exhibits. grammadee, congrats on your anniversary. You are just behind us. We will be 49 years in Dec. And Miss Clairol doesn't help me a bit! I hope you have a nice evening. Your relish sounds delicious. Mom used to make a mustard relish that I loved. Makes my mouth water to think about it. Good luck getting everything done. When do you have time to scrap? maribeth, I love your pages. So sweet. My sister lived and taught school in Moab. We made one trip down there and enjoyed the Park. I had a tiny baby though (before the days of slings to carry them) and decided hiking with him was not a good idea. It's beautiful country! Still sending prayers for you and your family. I hope that siblings can come to a peaceful resolution. Hugs. scrapincin, I hope your grands have a good school day. Ours start Monday. Alyssa starts a new Jr. High but Ashley is anxious to show her around, help with her locker, etc. She says she'll introduce her to all her friends. I'm so glad they are such close sisters. I wish I were packing with you for Expo. Are you planning to do page kits before you go, or just take a bit of everything and wing it? I know you will have a great time. Sigh! LisaDV, are you involved in a big farm project right now? (besides getting the washing machine going)Or are you pretty settled for a while? You always have so much going! Have a great day, everyone. Now to go do something WACKY! Lol, we love you maribeth!

Happy Wednesday! Glad you all are having a nice week so far. Over the weekend, we spent time with my in-laws. They came to visit us and we went to church and lunch afterwards. We tried a restaurant at the hotel next door at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The food was good and the place was warm which was not great being that it was a hot day. But, I didn't melt and enjoyed myself. LOL!
Hope to work on some art and maybe guitar today. Have lots of housework to do too. Also, our family friend Allyson Felix did come in second in the 400 meter race. Ron and I emotionally got so involved that when she came in second, we were bummed because she was so close to the gold medal. But no matter still very proud of her accomplishments. After that, I didn't watch hardly any Olympics yesterday after that emotional rollercoaster. LOL!
nylene - Oh boy the fair sounds lot it is gonna be great! I don't know if our county fairs have these categories but that is so cool yours does. Hope you all win! That park with music and movies sounds fun. Wish you could go visit it. Our park just has the music but another park here in town will have one night with a movie. Also, glad you two love birds had a good time too.
scrapincin - Your dgc are really growing up. I know you will enjoy spending time with them. Congrats on your sil's new job! My dh just celebrate one year at his job. He really likes it and hopefully the economy continues to keep our men working.
grammadee - CONGRATS! That is wonderful to hear you are celebrating 48 years. Have a great time and wishing you both a good new 48th year.
LisaDV- Hope your washer is back to working. Waving hi to ya, too
maribeth- Glad to see you got some scrappin done.

grammadee , scrapincin , nylene - Soooooo happy for all of you for your long marriages. I am so jealous. I so wanted a one and only marriage, but it was not able to be. I am glad however that to date Jim and I have had 23 years together. kellyr21 - Hello, so good to hear from you - Sounds like you have been having a wonderful time enjoying family. So COOL you know Allyson Felix. I felt so bad for her loss, but bottom line that was a neck and neck race and she has to be proud of that! Glad you are all enjoying your fairs. I don't enjoy them, but I am glad they are available for those who do. Good Thursday morning, Ladies! Today I am packing up for my play date with justjac ! The day will also include a stop to pick up my favorite coffee from Tim Hortons, a trip to WalMart to print photos, a quick stop at Michaels for cs, and some time spent at the LSS. Then lunch and an afternoon of paper play at Jac's house. My packing is a little chaotic. While I never do actual page kits, I usually start planning a scrappy day early by selecting targeted paper collections and stickers, etc, but I have been extra busy lately, and had not had time to select exactly what papers and extras I need. Even limiting the subjects to two little boys and the events to spring/summer and celebrating boyhood & brotherhood, there are still a lot of choices. I am also trying to get ready to pack up for a weekend in Calgary I leave for tomorrow, and making sure I have the bd gifts and cards ready to go for that, so as dd would say, I am a little "disregulated" this morning. Of course I will be picking up some stuff at the LSS to add to my supplies before I even start, and I know Jac is always generous with her stash as well... nylene , that fair sounds wonderful. It is so nice that you spend time at Cousin Camp creating for the Fair, and that you take the time to enter everything and then pick it up afterward. Our local fair is much smaller, but it sounds like it has many of the same categories as yours. I have entered scrapbook pages and cards occasionally but have never entered any of the other competitions. Our nephew's wife won some prizes this year for her photography and for her cards she created using some of my embossing folders and dies. kellyr21 , a day of crafting and music would be wonderful. Hope your Wednesday went as planned. scrapincin , I bet you are looking forward to spending more time with the dgk's. It must be great to have them so close to you. Our nearest dgs is over an hour away, and the rest are much further than that. maribeth , I hope the week is not going too slowly at work for you. Gotta go now: need to get dressed, put my scrappy stuff into the vehicle, go into town to get gas and pick up some CTMH catalogs for Jac and me, and then head out for the Play Date!

grammadee - I think that is a great idea - to pack your fuse some page protectors and some paper, that will be great for down time. I did not journal anything on the Finland page because I know nothing about the trip. This is where DH granddaughter moved to, and I just make pages so they will have them in the future. Because I am not sure anyone really keeps photos these day's and they may regret it. So hopefully when I am long gone she will be able to journal her own thoughts on her move to Finland. Have a great time and tell justjac hello!

I gathered some of the grands today and went to the Fair to see how their projects were judged. Every project received a blue ribbon (1st place) except the wooden pen that Lyssie made on the lathe with her grandpa. That one got a purple ribbon so will go to the State Fair in Sept. About 5% of the 4-H projects from our county are allowed to go to State competition. Some of the smaller counties can take a higher % of their entries. We have a very big county. All of my grandchildren were happy with the judging! maribeth , I understand that not everyone loves Fairs. I feel that way about Sports and even the Olympics. They just don't hold my interest, but I'm glad there are so many people who love them. It's a good thing we are all different and have varied interests! Cindy, how was the first day of school for the kids? I hope they enjoyed getting to know their teachers and meeting new friends. grammadee , you and justjac are going to have such a fun time. I love scrapping with someone. But mostly I scrap alone. I love our Card Club because we sit around and visit as we make cards and learn new techniques. You two, just have the very best time and know that we are all jealous! kellyr21 , sounds like you have had a good visit with family. How far away do your in-laws live? I'm glad Ron is liking his job. I hope the economy stays good so that it will continue. Here's another layout. The lacy white background was a prize from 2peas many years ago. nylene - yes it is great that there are so many different things available to appeal to everyone's interest. My not liking the fair thing I believe goes back to when I was a child and I got migraines from smells. I could not go to a gas station, and the fair food as soon as I smelled it made me ill. So I just got use to not going. I don't get migraines anymore, so maybe I should try one and see if i enjoy it now. So glad about your grands, that is such a wonderful thing for them to participate in, and so proud of their ribbons. No I did not travel to Finland, DH granddaughter moved there last year. I don't fly, so it is only the continental US for my travel plans.....maybe Canada.

Wow! I've missed a lot. I will have to come back to read through all of the posts and leave love on the wonderful layouts. I will say that after seeing your vacation gallery, I want to go on vacation with you, maribeth!! I'm super excited and wanted to share! The tax auction on foreclosed land was today. TWO pieces that are adjacent to our property went up. We won both!!! We now have an additional 7 acres. We've been saving our pennies and trying not to spend since we knew it was coming, in case it went higher than we wanted to pay but still low enough to be worth it to us. So it was low to middle of the road. So tomorrow since dd and dh both have doctor appointments, we'll be stopping at the menards to order our trim and doors and to look at tile for the upstairs bathroom. Woot! I'll be back Saturday when I'll be able to take a breath to really read through the posts and leave love on the layouts.

Good evening ladies. It is a bit late but I wanted to get these posted so you could see them tomorrow. They are a couple of cards I made this week. Making this short and sweet as I have battled a sick headache all day! BBL Nylene-the kids are glad to be back in school! Believe it or not. Love your cards, scrapincin , and your page nylene . So awesome that your dgd's woodworking is going on in the Fair competition. Congrats on that and on all the blue ribbons! My weekend plans have changed, because the birthday boy and his mom both have bad colds, so I will be home all weekend. Probably a good thing, as I have been pushing myself pretty hard lately and I really need to just chill for a day or two. Probably those germs would have joyfully leaped into my tired body and started up housekeeping before I even got home... I am a little disappointed, but have already made plans with the families down there to drive down on the long weekend and that way I get to see all the grandkids from there as well as get some back to school shots on the Tuesday. So rather than frantically packing the car, I am enjoying my second cup of coffee after adding some final touches to some pages I started yesterday at justjac 's. I added Ranger enamel accents (like Nuvo drops) to my July calendar page: july '17 page by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And I added journaling and a title, plus a little addition to the diecut scene ("shadow" of copper glitter glue and a few random shells) to this two page spread. Think I need to add a few words of journaling to the first page, but essentially these are done: beach boys 1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr beach boys 2 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

scrapincin, I love, love, love your cards. Your stamping skills are great! I also love the flip card and think I'll invest. I'm so sorry you have a headache. I hope it goes away quickly. It's hard to accomplish much with a sick headache. grammadee, great pages! I love seeing children in action, and that sand photo is wonderful. I can almost feel the sand. I'm sorry your plans fell through, but hope you catch up on all you have to do this weekend and then have a great LONG weekend with them next week. justjac, we are waiting to see what you accomplished with grammadee. I'm sure you enjoyed yourself! LisaDV, welcome back and congratulations on being able to purchase the 2 pieces of land. That will keep you busy, busy, busy in the future. I'm so happy for you. Also congrats on being able to get the trim and doors. You'll have that 100 year old home beautiful in no time!

maribeth, I forgot I wanted to tell you that my dislike of sporting events had a "physical" beginning as did your fair dislike. There is something about the constant loud sound of the audience and the SCREAMING of the announcer at exciting times that really hurts my ears and makes me feel crazy. I don't mind watching sports on TV if I can watch on mute. I do enjoy watching golf and I'm sure it's because of the quiet. I really think my brain and ears can't take the sound. Crazy, huh!

A quiet Saturday morning here. Dh has gone to town to visit with some people he used to work with. The oilmen's golf tourney is happening. I guess he has decided not to go to the Ukrainian festival today: we will be going to the Golf bbq instead. I put together another lake themed 2 pager today, using the supplies I had out after working on the cabin pages yesterday. Lake time by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I was going to add a few details to this 2 pager from the other day, but I can't find my anderonak chair stamp, and I am not sure what else to add. Guess I should do some journaling about this being Ryley's first experience at the cabin, but can do that quickly before this goes into the book. cabin life by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Hope you are all having a great Saturday.

OK, I have left love on all layouts. I think I am now caught up. Man, you pokeys are certainly not very pokey!! My washer is still out, every time the repairman had an opening, we were gone. So he'll come September 6th. Yesterday the TV remote quit and today I went down to take meat out of the freezer for the next couple of days to realize that both freezers weren't working. Another circuit messed up. So at least we spent a good couple of hours cleaning. We defrosted and moved both of the freezers and restocked them. It was good to clean them out. Since it's been so nasty down there since the workmen last December, I don't go down usually. It was good to start on the basement. I think both DH & I were intimidated by the mess that was there. The doors and trim for upstairs are ordered, but we don't expect them until October. It's all cherry with a clear varnish, but I don't have a spot to put the varnish on myself. Maybe by the time we do the downstairs. nylene, So happy to hear Lyssie is going to state!! Her pen is amazing! I also am not crazy about sporting events. I enjoy going to watch them, but could care less about TV viewing. grammadee, sorry that you didn't get to go see your babies, but I'm glad you can use the time to rest from your busy schedule and that you already have plans to make up the time. maribeth, hope you had a great work week and hope you are enjoying your weekend. kellyr21, have you been practicing your guitar? Have you decided to continue lessons? How's your painting coming? scrapincin, glad the kids are enjoying their back to school-ness. Waving hello to justjac, knutschen, sbartist and anyone I've forgotten.

Maybe by the time we do the downstairs. Wow. You are having WAY more than your share of appliance issues, LisaDV ! Hopefully the freezers work where you now have them plugged in now. Good thing you discovered the problem in time before you lost all the food! Are you redoing the wiring as you are renovating the house? "Another circuit messed up" sounds kind of ominous. And I hope after all that basement cleaning you found a way to get your TV remote working so you could relax. nylene , did you check out justjac 's cards in the Gallery? She did some of those last Thursday when we were paper crafting together. She has been making a ton of Christmas cards lately, and they look awesome IRL. It is a damp Sunday morning here: rained most of the night. Only 10C here this morning (about 50F). Yesterday I cut out some zucchini, so today I plan on baking a couple of zucchini chocolate cakes. Also hoping to keep up my scrapping mojo. Have some photos laid out on the counter, but have not started looking for the pp and extras to go with them.

Good Sunday afternoon to one and all! Hope you are having a great weekend! I have had one so far. Went out to a campground/lake where our friends are camping for 2 weeks. We went out on the lake in the pontoon boat but it is Also hot and the water level is low so not many fish were were biting. Watching the end of the Olympics today and taking it easy I did get a page scrapped yesterday but never got time to post it. Lisa-you sound like my DD. /there A/C went out first, then the washer, and then the dishwasher DSIL was able to fix the first 2 but the dishwasher cost as much to fit as new one to! grammadee-thanks for letting know about Justjac's cards so we can be inspired! It sounds like you are going to have a very busy day. Kelly- I can believe how fast time has gone and that foot ball is back and ready to go. Tell Ron I am not sure about RG but time will tell. I am sure the the Eagles will do well! Not so sure about the Browns! Well here is my layout and i will BBL! 1st day of school 2016 by Cindy Blair, on Flickr

I will be back soon, but wanted to let you know I am without a computer for a while. When they put in the new electrical box while wiring the Shop, apparently there is a bad breaker that affects the scrap room. My room often has had the power out while the rest of the house is on, but it would come back on. But it is totally out now. So no scrapping or computing until Eric can get his electrician to come check it out. I hope to have it back in a few days.
Hugs to all of you!

Good evening all! Oh Nylene so sorry to hear about your electric! Hope to see you back soon! Today is the first day in weeks that we were not around 90 degrees and thank goodness because our Air conditioning went out. The compressor will not even start. So we will be on the phone to the repairman in the morning. I did get into my scrap room this evening and I am working on some cards as I watch the closing ceremonies on tv. Hope you all have a great evening. See you tomorrow!

And I hope after all that basement cleaning you found a way to get your TV remote working so you could relax. We are having the electric redone as we work on the house. Our electrician is phenomenal. That's why I was glad it was the circuit and not the dishwasher. I have no intention of replacing that dishwasher just yet. The kitchen remodel is actually a whole addition that will come last. Our electrician was actually coming back to put in a few new lines for the freezers and a couple of new lights once we cleaned up the basement. Of course, we still have a couple of days worth of work to go before it's clean. Unfortunately, we're booked until the first part of September now. ugh. Also we can still watch TV as we use a firebox. The TV has buttons underneath that you can adjust the volume, it's just a pain. So we've just left it where it is. So some shows are a bit LOUD. It also means DH can't watch after the kids go to bed. OK what's with all of these electric issues and appliances going out!!! It's crazy. nylene, I hope your electric gets all settled and fixed sooner than ours. scrapincin, Hope you can get a repairman quickly. Love your layout. Off to leave you some love.
