I have 2 rooms (they are small). They are organized well. I have everything I could ever want. I have been thru my stuff numerous times and love it all. I don't purge because I bought what I love and I still love it. I have a great organizational system. Its always being tweaked but I know where things are. And I have a great memory and know what I have. After years I have figured out I will never scrap in my room. I scrap at the kitchen table or coffee table. I scrap near the tv. (having a tv in my room didn't help either) Which worked out took my large work table out and moved it to my office. Therefore more storage!!! I don't have kids, my DH likes to stamp stuff and has his own supplies and other interests so I have support to scrap. I just don't. Now my room is untidy right now. Monthly crop. I don't know what it is. I love going in my room. And I don't need a project. I will just try stuff. I will stamp and colour, or try a new technique. I just need some mojo or drive. I think I need to make an appointment with myself. Anyone else have this issue

I completely understand! I have a nice room, bright, and cozy. Sometimes I love it in there, and other times I can't be productive there. Sometimes it feels like a haven, other times it feels way to far from the main hub of the house- I live alone, so wherever I am is the hub. :-) But, somedays, it's hard to make myself "move" into there, My only advice is to give up the guilt! just go with what works for you!! IF that's the kitchen table, embrace it.

Oh I forgot to say, I do have guilt..guilt that other stuff isn't done. And in the last couple weekends I got that stuff done. I have a great routine going during the week. My house is clean. Its company ready at all times. Weekend is just couple loads of laundry, and general clean up, no more than a week night. Last weekend I cleaned my fridge out than scrapping. Now it needed to be done, and I hate that job, I am extremely happy with my fridge right now. I need to spend a few minutes this week in my scraproom getting it cleaned up for the weekend. I am commuting with my DH right now as his car is not working right, and am getting up at 4:30am and not getting home until 4:45pm. Its a long freaking day. And last night, no sleep. I'm trying very hard not to count the minutes today. Or look at the clock.

Is there space in your room to have someone come in and scrap with you? If so, maybe you need to make an appointment with yourself AND A FRIEND to scrap together. Sometimes it helps me to have someone coming over to get that kick in the butt that I need to work on something.
It also sounds like you are just plain tired. I think when you're out of the house for such long stretches at a time, by the time you get home, have dinner and clean up all you have energy for is sitting in front of the tv or Pinterest!
To answer your question, right now the major thing getting in my way is that my studio space is a disaster that found a place to happen, LOL. We moved into our house almost 2.5 years ago, a house that has a HUGE finished basement that is for the most part all mine. I was able to get it painted before I moved anything in, so that is done. Moved all of my furniture and my boxes of junk in but could only justify unpacking the things that I need for work (I design and manufacture page kits and work from home) because by the time I paid for a new desk and some wall shelves above it, I ran out of money to do the rest. I still need to get a bunch of cabinets/counters installed and more wall shelving as well.
The money for the buildout is supposed to be coming from my Mom's estate which has been tied up in probate for almost three years. The final hearing is today, so hopefully there is a light at the end of the (very long) tunnel. What complicates things is the fact that I have a preschooler at home with me and the entire space is completely NOT child friendly or safe. She's pretty good for the most part, but she does sometimes get into things. And because everything is such a mess of boxes and stuff, I hesitate to bring a bunch of her stuff down there for her to play with so she gets bored quickly with the stuff I do bring down there for her to do. She will sit and watch toy videos on YouTube or cartoons on NetFlix for a short time and be happy, but I don't want that to be the only thing she does all day, you know? I save that for the times when I'm really desperate to get some work done.
Because of the long delay in getting this buildout done (which was originally a top priority when we moved in, thinking the money would come much sooner than it has), I've been in a holding pattern for both work and with my personal scrapping which is my primary creative outlet. I think about scrapping day and night but have a hard time doing anything about it. Looking at that mess kills my mojo. Not being able to find any of my personal stuff is frustrating and it kills my mojo. I don't like having people over to scrap because of the mess down there. When I do force myself to have friends over and try work on something, I spend more time looking for things than I do scrapping and it just drives me nuts. I'm normally a pretty organized person, so trying to function with all this chaos for so long has been really hard for me to deal with.
The absolute worst part is that I dislike even complaining about it because it's such a first world problem, but really does impact a big part of my life because this isn't just a hobby for me, it's my work that's negatively impacted too. I have been so blessed in so many ways it seems ungrateful to feel the way I do about it. I totally get what you're saying, OP. Thanks for letting me vent a little as well.

I also have no real reason to not be scrapbooking....I'm just tired and would rather read blogs, MB and looking for stuff scraplift that I'll never do. I think I'm in a funk.

I get stuck on the computer with 2peas or pinterest or shopping, etc. All my stuff is in this room, but I struggle too. I, too, love all my stuff. The hardest part for me is coming up with layout ideas. That takes so long! So then I go online to get ideas, sketches, etc., and before I know it, 3 hours have gone by and I'm still on the computer! AArrgghh!!

Guilt. Guilt that the house isn't clean, or not organized, or that I should be spending time with my kids (or if kids are asleep, with my husband!). I am the most productive at night when the cleaning lady has just come and my DH is out of town!!

I feel like when I have the time available, I just want to crash on the couch and watch TV. Takes a lot more energy to go to the craft room and get creative. Pure laziness is what holds me back!

What holds me back: Not much time - work full time, 2 young kids I have no dedicated space - all my scrappy stuff is in Iris boxes, an Artbin and a large Rubbermaid bin. If I want to scrap, I have to schlep it all, or part of it, to the dining room. PITA!!! I don't feel like crafting should be something you have to do all the time if you don't feel like it. It should be fun and relaxing

What holds me back is work - usually no time to scrap during the week so i need to slot in some time at the weekend. Also, if I'm tired or stressed about things I can't create. It saps my mojo!

Laziness. Just utter and supreme laziness. Usually revolving around not wanting to write my journalling. I don't believe in not journalling on my layouts, and I don't believe in typing my journalling... but I'm freakin' lazy and don't want to actually WRITE said journalling.
Like you, no kids, organised room, plethora of supplies and ideas, and yet... freakin' lazy.

I have my own space on the main floor of our house and it sometimes becomes a dumping ground of other people's stuff. You know, all that stuff that DS and DH don't want to put away. I don't want to go in there when it's a huge mess. So, I don't scrap until I get in there and clean it out. I would love to have a TV in my room, but I might feel guilty about not spending time with DH.

After 15 years I think I'm just burned out and over it. Makes me sad to say it outloud, but it's true. Things really went downhill for me when I stopped having crops to go to and most of my friends stopped scrapbooking. I still like the idea of scrapbooking and still shop here and there plus I still take photos and keep them organized, etc. Eventually I'll get back into a regular habit of scrapbooking again. I have a great scraproom that needs to be used!

Well, there are a few things that contribute.
The least of which is that I've been blessed w/reconnecting w/an old scrappy pal and we get together at least once a week to scrap at my house. The problem w/that is that I'm now in the mindset where I only scrap when she comes over. I need to get over that.
I don't have a room, just a large closet that I've commandeered (and filled w/lovely scrappy goodies). I scrap in our basement, which is one big room where the large TV (not in my eyeline, sadly), Xbox, computer, younger son's Legos & our dining room table all are. I scrap at the table. While it's nice to be in the thick of things, it's also a little tedious having the Xbox as a background. I'm thinking my own space would be nice.
Plus, it's really, really, cold down there. It's got paneled walls and no insulation. In the summer, the a/c keeps it like a meat locker. Sure, I can wear layers but today, I swear, I needed fingerless gloves. Not fun.
If I waited til I had everything done around my house, I would never scrap, so I know that's not the reason.
Truth be told, like pp's have said, it's sheer laziness. Much easier to flop on my bed & pick up the remote than walk downstairs and get my mojo going. I tell myself that if I could see the TV, I'd scrap more, but I'm not sure if that's true.

The only thing that stops me is time. I WISH I had more time to scrapbook. I seasonal camp and some of my camping buddies are scrapbookers and we set up all day crops outside but that only a once or twice during the summer.

Time... Never enough hours in a day to get everything done that needs to get done and then scrap! Especially in the summer because I love being outside. My "scrap season" is during colder months, or even when the NFL starts and I can spend at least some time on Sundays scrapping! Right now though not much is happening in my scrap room... Soon but I don't want to rush the end of the summer...

The biggest thing holding me back from scrapping right now is rheumatoid arthritis. :-(. Prior to the last week or so, I had some awesome scrapping momentum going on, then it rained. Since I have a severe case of RA, if it even thinks about raining, I hurt. Well the past week or so, it has either rained or threatened to rain, so I haven't been able to do much besides watch tv; and it kills me not to be able to scrap.
I was able to get to Michael's today, because DS needed something for school. I bought a cute 6x8 PL binder to organize my Citrus Twist and Scraptastic stamps. And I've been reading the first issue (January) of Create magazine, but that's been the extent of my craftiness. Chronic pain is a b*tch! It isn't suppose to rain for a few days, so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow and can get dome things done. If I wasn't in so much pain, I would finish editing and ordering some pics, then I'd get to work on the "Killing It" challenge over on the challenge board. I have a kit all picked out to "kill," so hopefully it will be dead by Monday. Lol

My main excuse...err, reason...is a messy room. I got lots of awesome new supplies last month, printed all my March pics for PL, and yet I can't get motivated because my scrap room is such a disaster.

My main set back is kids----and everything that comes along with them. So I guess that being said, it's time. My kids and the many others who frequent my house SUCK ALL THE TIME from me. I'm cooking or baking for them; then cleaning it all up. House work and juggling schedules. My kids are very involved in activities. I have a wonderful area to scrap and my eight yr old has a table set up too BUT it's just finding the time to do it.

So many things but I am another who suffers in the lazy department so that hasn't helped much and I lost my mojo after the kids were born which I am still looking for, seven years later Another area that bugs me to no end is where I scrapbook, for some reason I am never 100% happy with my space. Have a room to myself, too quiet. Share the room, too much going on. Currently the room I am in is all mine again but the light is horrible, the room is extremely cold in winter amongst a multitude of other small complaints.

OK ladies. I just spent a half hour cleaning up my room. Not perfect but its totally scrappable. So Saturday criminal minds marathon and my coffee table will meeT scrapping supplies. Also a PSA. Don't leave a reinker on its side if its not sealed. Especially archival black. Thankfully it was on my cutting board in my scraproom. And why do those stacking colorbox little cats eyes inks never stay closed?

And why do those stacking colorbox little cats eyes inks never stay closed? You go girl, get your scrap on. And I agree, why don't the damn lids stay on??? I store mine in the 4x6 Iris photo boxes - the boxes somewhat help keep the lids on:

what a great question!! I think a big part of it for me is I like the social aspect of scrapping and don't like doing it all by myself, at home. The other part is that when I scrap at home, I feel like I'm being anti-social to my BF, and I get interrupted a lot- by him, by the dogs or cats gettin in my room or in my stuff, etc.
Aside from the mess in my room, because it's usually very disorganized-- even if my room WAS clean, I don't like being upstairs away from the action in the rest of the house. The last few times I've actually done anything scrappy ws because I took all my stuff to my not-so-local scrapbook store and rented classroom space during their 'open lab' time, or signed up for their 12-hour crops. (thanks for the reminder, actually- I need to find out when their next one is!)

The other part is that when I scrap at home, I feel like I'm being anti-social to my BF, and I get interrupted a lot- by him, by the dogs or cats gettin in my room or in my stuff, etc. This is me too. I would love to have a regular scrapping day here with friends once a month after my stuff is set up and organized, that would help me to at least get my work related pages done on time (which has totally been pushed to the back burner this whole summer). It's so much easier to work on anything when DH can keep DD out of my hair. Even when he's home though he tends to let her "migrate" down to my studio to see what I'm doing, and then she's bugging me endlessly and is sad when I shoo her back upstairs. I too have dogs and for some reason they seem to think I'm the ONLY one who can come up and open the door for them to go in or out--like a hundred times a day. He'll be sitting in the family room watching TV upstairs, and they will come downstairs and harangue me until I go up and let them out. Drives me nuts. The nice thing is that DH *wants* me to spend time doing my stuff. He gets ample time to get out and do his stuff (shooting league, bowling league, hunting, fishing weekends, etc.) so he never has a problem when I want to go somewhere for a weekend or have friends come over. I don't really like going out in the evenings like he does because by the time I've chased around a kid all day, have dinner and get the kitchen cleaned up, I'm totally wiped out and it's message boards and Pinterest for me.

Are we married to the same man? I am about five steps away from anything in our home, kitchen, computer, TV, bedroom, bathroom, scrap area. But every time my DH walks past me (which is a lot since we live in a small space and he can't sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time), he has to touch me in some fashion or ask if I need anything. Nope, I think I can handle 5 steps in any direction!
