Neither. I like the cinnamon sugared ones from Auntie Anne's. Oh yes! Dipped in cream cheese. I could eat them by the wagon full!

Cheese sauce. But the sesame pretzel was my favorite (at Auntie Anne's) and they discontinued it. Harumph. How the heck hard is it to have a container of sesame seeds around for the one time a year I want one? I will sit on the bench and wait for it to bake!
I will say that when I get a pretzel at Barnes and Noble (either a pizza pretzel or spinach/feta), then I get mustard.

If it's an Auntie Anne's pretzel-- I prefer them plain. Regular, run-of-the-mill soft pretzels-- I'd prefer cheese.

Aunty Anns has a cheese/salsa mix that I love with a salted pretzel but my favorite is the Almond with caramel sauce.

I've never had mustard on a pretzel. I prefer jalepeno cheese on mine. If I were back in Germany, it'd be butter. I love a good butter pretzel. Oh man I miss Germany. *drools*

The pretzel place in our mall is not Auntie Anne's, it's some other one. But anyway, I'm beginning to think that Auntie Anne's uses the term "pretzel" very loosely.

I think I could eat a soft baked pretzel anytime with any dip. I don't discriminate but I do choose mustard first off.

I love mustard, but prefer pizza/marinara sauce with my soft pretzels. Second choice is cheese and third is mustard. And I loathe butter - it makes me gag. Blech. I like salt, but am on a salt-restricted diet, so I always have to brush it off. L

I hate mustard, but I don't like the cheese sauce either. If I can't have slightly warmed cream cheese, then plain is fine by me!

Neither, I dip them UNSALTED into melted salted butter. The closest thing I can get to an Auntie Anne's pretzel. It has been over TEN YEARS since I had one since I moved back here from Colorado. Only thing besides my friends that I miss.

Cheese for the butter dipped auntie Anne's variety however mustard for the more traditional Philadelphia style salted pretzel.

Wetzel's Pretzel bites, no salt, with cheese sauce please. Mustard would be my second choice. Butter is not an option.

Well, I'm familiar with two kinds of soft pretzel, and for each my answer is different.
If it's Auntie Anne's pretzels in the mall, it gets cheese sauce, because they are twisted and airier.
For Pretzel Factory pretzels, mustard, because they are dense and need something to cut through it.
