She refused to get the manager? Wow. Go back in and make a complaint, or write in. If they are open till 7' then they are open till 7. If there was no notice stating that last orders for food have to be in by a certain time, then she has lost the company money, lost your custom, and done nothing to enhance their reputation. I'd sack her in a heartbeat.
You could go to town about this on Trip Advisor.

Unbelievable......I have done customer service jobs (retail, not waitressing) and I enjoyed every minute of it....BUT I would never, ever say that to a customer/client......
I have also been a "mystery shopper" .......and thought I had seen it all
Please update us!

Bad day or bad attitude? Both? Either way a client is a client.

Wow! That is very rude. I work in retail so I understand the comment of coming in at 4:45...but I would NEVER say it out loud to a customer! When I am closing we get people coming in minutes before the store closes, and yeah, it's super annoying but we just smile and try to accommodate them as fast as we can. But you had time to eat and order food! If that waitress is acting like that she shouldn't work in any field involving customers. That's. Rude. She may have been having a bad day but that is not an excuse. I would definitely write in, or go in person again just to speak with a manager about the experience.

Where in the world is there a restaurant serving that type of food that closes at 7 pm? I can't even get past that to consider the rest of the story.

Were you the only people in the restaurant?
I would have probably just asked why it was an issue since they didn't close for another hour and a half.
While I think she was rude, I probably would have just called her on it and waited to see what her response was before I went off the rails and stomped out. I'm not big on getting people fired over a stupid comment. If her attitude had continued, I might have asked to see the manager, but other than that I would have rather had my food. Customer service is not all that great anywhere these days and if I got into a snit every time a cashier, or waitress or gas station attendant was less than cheerful and charming, I think I'd be pissed off all the time. I don't know what she was thinking though, it's a pretty stupid comment to make to a customer.

Wow. I'm curious to see what the manager says. Why didn't you wait to speak to the manager then? If you hung around long enough I'm sure you would have seen him/her.

Oh I see....the next time someone walks into my ER clothing his / her chest and all sweaty and short of breath at 6:55, I'll just tell him, "I'm so sorry. I get off at 7."
::eye roll::
Her rudeness is unacceptable and if I were a manager I would want to know about this waitress's behavior immediately. She is clearly running customers off! I'd be pissed!

I'll be interested in hearing what your husband's conversation with the manager was like.
I hope wherever you ended up with your friends was nice and that you had a good time despite the earlier unpleasantness.

Oh my goodness! That's just terrible service! I can't believe she said anything like that to you. Suck it up. It's your job! Y'all still had an hour and a half before closing. Ridiculous!

Wow, that is pretty bad. I absolutely think you should talk to the manager, because she knew better. She even admitted she knew she could lose her job when she told them don't leave, and that you can't talk to management. The one comment alone doesn't warrant her being fired necessarily, as I-95 suggested. However, her behavior after the fact does. The management needs to know.
All that said, I remember working for a restaurant in high school. A few times a few customers were complete buttholes, and when I refused to indulge their rediculous requests, they would request the owner. I loved when they did that, because 99% of the time he told them off because he'd agree with me, and said it's probably best not to come back. The other 1% of the time, he was neutral and 'whatever' about it. He was a good boss.

Holy smokes, so not ok. She should not be a waitress! We used own a restaurant, and I always told my wairesses/cooks that we are open till 10, so we cook till 10. If someone had came in at 9:50, they get menus and food.

The waitress' behavior was inexcusable! I am also a little astounded by a restaurant that serves dinner, and clearly not fast food, yet closes at 7 pm. That is also weird. There are many people here who don't eat dinner until between 7-8 pm, and I don't know of any restaurants that serve dinner that close before 10 pm, except Subway which closes at 9 pm. Slight hijack - the 7 pm closing also surprised me, but we just returned from a road trip and discovered most of the small town restaurants the kids researched and picked for our dinners closed at 8 pm. Hitting Grants Pass at 7:45 our choices were very slim, but there was a 24 hour Subway The manager definitely needs to know about this employee.

She is going to get fired because it is NOT the first time she pulled that crap!
At our local Triple A branch they close at five. I have learned that means they will be turning the key in the lock and the light will be off at five.

Mu husband needed to get an oil change before a long weekend since we would be traveling. He went to his usual shop and the kids and I went into EB games. He was there 15 minutes before closing. There was one guy in front of him. Two guys were working. They asked what he needed done and he sat down as he waited. 10 minutes later one of the guys comes up to him and said they couldn't take him. My husband protested and said he needed this done now since the next day nothing would be open. Nope. So he wrote an e-mail to the business. The owner phoned him and apologized. He said they should've still took him since they let him wait there and it wouldn't have taken long. That he did not condone their actions. A free oil change was put on his account.

I agree blasting them on facebook is not the way go at least at first. If you don't get a appropriate response from the manager I would be more then happy to leave a facebook review.
