The waitress' behavior was inexcusable! I am also a little astounded by a restaurant that serves dinner, and clearly not fast food, yet closes at 7 pm. That is also weird. There are many people here who don't eat dinner until between 7-8 pm, and I don't know of any restaurants that serve dinner that close before 10 pm, except Subway which closes at 9 pm. Corner Bakery here closes at 7PM on Sundays. OOPS! Hit enter too soon. I totally agree that the waitress was in the wrong and it should be brought to the manager's attention. Interested to hear what he has to say tomorrow.

Ooooh I would have been super pissed!!! Not only was she beyond rude, but she would have caused me to miss out on my all time fav food, crabs!!
Seriously, if you're going to complain about people coming in before close, make sure it's, oh, I don't know, 15 mins to close!!! Not 2 hrs before close!!!

Daftly bold. ------------------------------------ Tangent: I was a waitress at a place where the same couple would arrive on a week night around 9:40, order a drink, wait until 9:58 to order dinner, order after-dinner drinks, and sit with the check on the table until they finished every drop. They knew exactly what they were doing. I can only guess they got off on knowing that a waitress, two cooks, a dishwasher, a bartender, and a manager were all waiting for them to leave. They tipped exactly 15%, even if that meant pocketing some coins from their change.

You wouldn't believe how much business we get by just giving good customer service. Customer service seems to be a dying art anymore. Some people are successful despite themselves.

How are such non-people persons in positions that deal with people non-stop. Perhaps the waitress learned it from the owner. Glad you are getting your say in all the other ways through social media.

Were you the only people in the restaurant? I would have probably just asked why it was an issue since they didn't close for another hour and a half. While I think she was rude, I probably would have just called her on it and waited to see what her response was before I went off the rails and stomped out. I'm not big on getting people fired over a stupid comment. If her attitude had continued, I might have asked to see the manager, but other than that I would have rather had my food. Customer service is not all that great anywhere these days and if I got into a snit every time a cashier, or waitress or gas station attendant was less than cheerful and charming, I think I'd be pissed off all the time. I don't know what she was thinking though, it's a pretty stupid comment to make to a customer. I am a very laid back and polite customer. I know a lot of people who have worked as servers and it is one of the hardest jobs out there. It takes a lot for me to want to involve management, and, in this case, I think management involvement was warranted. As a business owner, I would want to know if one of my employees were behaving so rudely. That rude waitress can, and eventually will, hurt the business' bottom line. For me, taking this issue to management would not be about trying "to get people fired over a stupid comment." It would be about the fact that her comment was more than rude and could ultimately impact the business. OP: It's too bad the manager you spoke with wasn't more concerned. I think you were well within your rights to write the reviews you wrote.
