Still not loving this and just started Fall - I just can't picture her in the Wild that just seems so out of character but I will continue to watch. I am loving some of the old Characters though - Jess, Kirk, Gypsy, Zack, Lane, Taylor, Luke, Babbette, Doyle, the Town Troubadour - Logan, Rory and Lorelai not so much.

OK I had to leave halfway through the Fall episode. I was a mess at that point.
Watched 2 basketball games, had dinner and finally sat down to watch the end.
I was teary when Lorelai and Emily were chatting at the house.
And finally Sookie!!
Then, when Jess left the house I got teary again.
But I loved how they did things, I was a mess for that part - damn sappy music.
And I can't believe how we were left hanging!! lol

Oh, when I heard the song from Liz & TJ's wedding start to play I was a mess too. And how happy Lorelai was with what kirk did---and how happy that made Kirk. That was sweet.

I hated the ending, too, for reasons I can't type w/o giving away spoilers. I will say I have NEVER liked Luke.

I started my marathon two hours ago but have been irritatingly and consistently interrupted. So I'm still in Winter. I'm hoping the interruptions stop and the pace of the show picks up.

I just finished watching all 4 episodes and wow! they finished it how??? Oh my goodness!! They cannot leave it there!
I liked the winter episode, didn't really care for spring or summer, but loved fall. I really enjoyed the first part of fall with Rory, Logan, Finn, Robert and Colin. I felt like there was closure for some story lines, while others were left wide open. I won't spoil it for those still watching.

I have a couple random thoughts. 1. I wish they would show Morey more often. I like that guy. I wished that in the regular seasons too.
2.) How the heck did they manage to hide everything that was happening behind that door at the end?
3.) Did they forget Doula existed? We heard about Liz & TJ over & over but never that poor kid.
4.) I was happy to see Mae Whitman's part was slightly more than I expected. I read something once about blinking and missing her, so I expected her to be in a non-speaking role.
5.) And possibly the most important...what in God's good Earth is Luke/Scott doing with his hair?

I cried when Rory decided on her perfect place to work, too. Even as she was just meandering around I was feeling weepy, but once she opened the door, forget it. I was a goner. OMG...same here! I forgot about that part! I was already crying a little as she walked through the house and we saw her memories of the different rooms. Then when she got there and set up her laptop...I was a goner too!

Oh, and after the last 4 words, Rory's conversation with Christopher had a whole new meaning to me! And, I love that they gave Rose Abdoo a double part---it's fits right in with the fact that they often had actresses play 2 characters...Sherilyn Fenn, Alex Borstein, & Marion Ross come to mind from the regular series. And one last word about the musical---I know a lot of people hated it, but except that I did think it was too long, I saw it had purpose. Obviously, it was your typical Stars Hollow event. Lorelai always loved all of the foofaraw of a town event or production. And this time we see everyone else in town so into it, and enjoying it so much, and she's sitting there thinking "WTH??" which is so unusual for her, and it further shows that she's in a real funk at that point. That she truly isn't feeling like herself. And then of course, the last song was exactly how she was feeling. There has been a precedence for a single town event to consume a lot of air time in a show--think the hay bale maze or Living Arts event, but I still think that we could have seen less of the musical.

Binged it with my very excited (twentysomething) kids, who I watched the show with when it originally aired.
Yes, it was choppy and erratic. Gilmore Girls was one of my favorite series EVER, but it was always, always, always choppy and erratic, and they changed characters' personalities all the time to service the plots, so I'm really not surprised we saw all the same trends in the revival.
Also, Amy and Daniel have different writing and directing styles. Daniel prefers the townies and quirk, which is how we ended up with Kirk's film (loved)...the characteristically long play segment...the bizarre town part of the Life and Death Brigade sequence, etc. And to his credit, his camera work is always much better.
In my house, we all thought "Spring" (Daniel) was the best. It had more of a beginning, middle and end than the other episodes. From reading some online reaction, though, I think we're in the minority.

The town part of the Life & Death brigade was wild, wasn't it? My 6 year old was playing int he room and pretty much ignoring the show, but the play caught his attention as did that part of the L&DB. He kept saying "Is this a dream??". I adored the Wizard of Oz part. (Later on I also liked the small bit of "So Long, Farewell".)

If anybody knows the "Gilmore Guys" podcasters, did you notice them in a scene in the dining room in "Spring"?
My son spotted them. They were sitting at a table looking at their phones, surrounded by the "B Actors" Michel was so bitter about. Loved everything about that gem.

I also liked the whole "Secret bar" part. Although I did wonder if that meant that we're supposed to ignore that the old KC's bar existed.

As set highlights go, I loved the remodel version of Lorelai's "old" kitchen. And I giggled that she now has Fiestaware. And when all is said and done and dissected, Kelly Bishop rocks.

Kelly Bishop does rock. She was the shining star of these episodes in my mind.

just finished... I will admit I saw the series only one a couple of years. I liked it. Totally agree that the show was too long.
Liked the first episode and how the handled the passing of Richard. Had me in tears. Cried during first and last episode.
I kind of liked the ending, but I wish there was more...

I always have low expectations for sequels, but this was better than I expected and overall I really enjoyed it. I hope they make more episodes.

I really don't know what to think.
But seriously. That was the worst ending ever. Those were the famous last words?
In many ways Rorys life will be like Lorelais - and I think I know who she will choose in the end.

Okay, I finished it. Seriously, what kind of ending was that unless they plan to do Season 2? Ugh, it was okay. I liked some parts but could've done without all the musicals. Summer was my least favorite. I'm not really into musicals. I wish they had shown more Lane and what was up with her life. I liked seeing Sookie again.

Yeah, getting ready to start the 4th episode. I'm seeing it through but I'm not happy either. There were some funny parts but really not a whole lot. I had higher hopes for it. Maybe it'll all tie in nice and neat in this one. I'm onto the second episode and I'm with you on that. Not as good as the original. So far it feels too forced. SaveSave

I must have lost anything I felt for Gilmore Girls because I can't get into this at all. Every time I start it I doze off.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!! I hated, absolutely hated the ending!!! Season two or not, that was not a nice way to end!!! (And, spoiler..... who do you think it "was"? Paul? Logan? The Wookie? ?) I loved that they included a few actors from Parenthood (can't remember names, too lazy to look them up): During the "standing in line" storyline, Lorelei's daughter on Parenthood played the young girl who had to go back to work (Lorelei slipped her a doughnut and then received a pair of shoes from her). Also during the "Wild" storyline, the second park ranger was Lorelei's brother on the series and I think, her real-life SO. The other park ranger, the first one, looked familiar too and I think was a lesser part on Parenthood. Did I mention I hated the ending? ?? And several tear-jerker moments, especially when Lorelai called Emily to tell the sweet story.... and when Rory opened the door to Grandfather's study.... and even when she was saying goodbye to Colin and the other two Life/Death boys. The Wizard of Oz take on those three was pretty good.

On "Parenthood," he played Sarah Braverman's younger-than-her boyfriend (who was her daughter's English teacher). There were also at least three actors from the show "Bunheads." So are you saying you kinda' didn't like the ending? SPOILER (I believe the answer you're looking for is Logan. Most definitely Logan. Fits the circle-of-life theme.)

I agree with AmeliaBloomer. It's Logan for sure. It does fit the circle theme. It fits with the time when Logan & Christopher met and Rory saw the similarities between them and then when Rory went to talk to Christopher to feel him out about his place in her life. I'm sure at that point she was already comparing her father's answers to how things might work out with Logan. Beyond that, and the timing of things, let's face it, in terms of drumming up interest, Logan is the clear winner here. There would be no drama involved if some unknown one night stand or completely forgettable boyfriend were the one. And if they want to continue on, they need interest & drama. I'm just incredibly relived right now that Amy didn't wind up writing the 7th season (And my God, I certainly never ever thought I would say that!!) because those last 4 words don't really bother me at this point in Rory's life. She's 32 years old, she's accomplished a lot so far in her life, but she's i a rut and she's been carrying on in a way that even she isn't happy with. I think that right now, this could, along with the book, could be a great way to change direction and perspective for her and she might wind up much happier with herself & with life. If these same 4 words came when she was what, 23?, at the end of the 7th season, just graduated and ready to go out and make something of herself, it would have been far more disruptive timing.

I did really enjoy the guest stars. I called out "Mr. Cyr!!" to an empty room when Jason Ritter showed up. And then I was really tickled to see Peter Krause there the next day. But I liked the Gilmore Guys, the celebrity chefs being fired, and the actors from Bunheads as well. And although not a true guest star, I got a kick out of them bringing "Miss Celine" back.

Yup, yup, yup. And yup. SPOILERS: And I think the reason Rory at 32 was written as unemployed, drifting, passive, and maddeningly unfocused was so they could recreate the situation of somebody much younger facing single parenthood...as originally intended. (And they made her amoral just to service the Logan-is-not-available contrivance.) But she's got a filthy rich Baby Daddy, a grandmother with big bucks (so future inheritance), and a father who claims he has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it. I'm guessing she's not going to work as a maid and live in a shack. Plus, she doesn't hate her parents and won't refuse their help. She LIKES being a princess. However, I, as the mother of two kids who work in freelancing fields that don't offer health insurance, kept wondering - while watching - if she was spending all her money on flights to London instead of health insurance premiums. (THIS is how my mind works these days...). And after the first shock of the last scene, I ACTUALLY thought, "Well, at least insurers can't turn down a new policy now because pregnancy is a pre-existing condition." Yes, I turned a Gilmore Girls thread political. Heh.
