I have yet to see anyone blame Hillary or blame the Dems because of his dumbassery. He acts like a dumbass all on his own. And while I have seen people blame the Dems for not having a better candidate to put up instead of HRC, I feel different and am still floored the Repubs. couldn't come up with someone better than him. I'm still in shock at all the other candidates that fell before him. Trump and HRC were the last 2 standing. And I still shake my head. I have read over and over people on here criticizing and questioning some of Trump's appointments, criticizing his tweets, saying they wish he'd keep his big mouth shut, etc., and that's from people like me that DID vote for him. Shit...I even said he was "an asshat that talks out of both sides of his f'ing mouth." What more do you want? People want to pick apart every.single.thing the man says and does, by all means, continue on. However, why is there this expectation that people need to check in daily and say, "you were right?" What do I want? I want to be heard without someone telling me to "get over it", or telling me it's the "dems fault" for Trumpsters egregious verbal diarrhea and actions. It is NOT ANYONE's fault except his own of what comes out of his mouth. I can respect that.

Thank YOU Lucyg! Perfectly said. I'm sick to death of being beat down by conservatives who just cannot admit that their savior is a bat shit crazy loon who knows nothing about being president and throws out the "it's the Dems fault" or "Hilary did it" each time their idiot elect does something stupid. It didn't help either that Trumpster has the Russians and Wikileaks in his stable either. I have yet to see anyone blame Hillary or blame the Dems because of his dumbassery. He acts like a dumbass all on his own. I've been a part of the 2Peas community since 2004. I've been through both elections in 2008 and 2012. People on the right were complaining and picking apart every single thing President Obama has said and done the ENTIRE 8 years. They were certainly more vocal immediately following the elections of course, but they did not stop. Now, it's only been a few weeks since this election was held, and everyone expects there to be peace and calm in the pod now? We are told to "lighten up?!" We are not allowed to voice our opinions of this very ignorant man? The left has as much right to bitch and vent as the right did. The right side has as much right to stick up for their elected prez as the left stuck up for President Obama. But don't tell us to "lighten up" or quit bitching this soon after the election. If you don't like it, don't read it. There are plenty of other threads to read and chime in on. Right now, it's all about Christmas. Then it will be about New Year's resolutions. So on and so forth. So if you don't like reading all the stuff about the election, then go find one of those. Myself, I am holding out hope that once he assumes office, things will settle down and we all watch and wait. I'm hoping that he will magically appear presidential some time soon. But I will not be holding my breath as I will surely be asphyxiated.

I did make a snarky comment early on in one of the threads, which I shouldn't have and I have no excuse for. However, there still seem to be call outs to people that voted for Trump to explain themselves, or to admit this and/or that about the man. I guess I'm hoping at some point the conversations to turn to what do "we" think of this or that, not what do "you" think.

Devildog, it was directed at your post when you asked us what more do we want? Or that we have an expectation that we need to check in daily and say you were right. Those statements pretty much rank up there with the "Lighten up" and "quit bitching" people to me. If I'm wrong, I apologize. But I felt like your statements were in line with the Lighten up and calm your tits posts. Basically, some Peas want us to quit posting about Trump and the ridiculous things he says, tweets, does. But he does these ridiculous things just about EVERY day! We can't help but point them out! Daily. So just let us bitch and moan for awhile. I guarantee that it will die down eventually. It'd probably die down sooner if those on the right would quit telling us to calm down. It didn't work when the left did it to them over the past 8 years. It won't work now.

Do other countries revere their flags like American's do? But do we really? or is it just the Patriot humpers that get offended? Act outraged when the time warrants it, but will be the first to stand by the sentiment that the Confederate flag is just a symbol, it doesn't mean anything. ??
I know last summer, I used a flag napkin to wipe the BBQ sauce from my mouth and I've seen people wear our flag, the most recent a flag jean jacket with a picture of Donald on the back, I've seen flag purses, sunglasses, earrings, etc. and I'm going to guess that there is even flag toilet paper to ass your ass with.
The Donald needs to have Reince provide him with a copy of Texas vs. Johnson so he can educate himself and quit making as ass of himself.

My "what more do we want" comment was related to this comment: "I'm sick to death of being beat down by conservatives who just cannot admit that their savior is a bat shit crazy loon who knows nothing about being president and throws out the "it's the Dems fault" or "Hilary did it" each time their idiot elect does something stupid." IMO that appeared to be yet another call out to anyone that voted for Trump. I have never said anyone should stop posting about Trump, because that's not how I feel. People are free to discuss what they want, and how ever often they want. I agree with "hey, if you don't like the topic, scroll on by." It's what seems to be constant finger pointing and expectation that people who voted for him should admit the dude's a loon that led to my response. Nobody should be attacked for how they feel, how they voted, where they think our country is headed, etc. I've been around 2Peas for I guess 15 or so years, and this is the first time I ventured into the political threads (I'm questioning my own sanity for deciding this was the election to step right up into ). I can tell you that each election was different for me, and I voted all over the place depending on who the candidates were. I can say I do want to hear different sides, different points of view, and I learn a lot about politics, policies in general from the various threads. Now...where's that "what's for dinner" thread?

I know that someone else put people in their place on the other/older flag thread. I sometimes wonder if people realize that others have different reasons for the feelings they have regarding things. I don't feel I'm a patriot humper (whatever that is). I do have strong feelings for myself about the US flag. I have never had to hand a folded flag to a family member at a funeral. But I have been present when it was done. For me a flag is a powerful symbol and is more then just a piece of material. We fly it proudly at our house and follow all flag rules for flying. I don't expect others to feel the same or even understand how either of us feel.

Ummm...I gotta admit, I don't think I care for the term patriot humper. I don't care for flag burning. It makes me uncomfortable. But while I do consider myself fairly patriotic, I also get that it is a fairly powerful form of public dissent. I am not going to call for a revocation of citizenship, or any other such penalty, but that doesn't mean I am not going to say that I am okay with it.

I didn't say I was okay with flag burning either but it has been decided that it's protected under the 1st Amendment and whether we like it or not, it's the law of the land and I'm sorry, you don't care for my terminology of patriot humper but it's not the first time it's been used in this forum and for me, it does depict a faction of our citizens who think that their kind of Patriotism is somehow better and more true than mine.

I thought both of us were very clear that we were sharing how we feel, not how we felt others should feel. I also felt we answered respectfully. I'm not offended but I feel the term is rude, which is probably how I think you feel too I guess I don't see a reason for name calling all the time. Even though I know it's all Trumps fault and he started it

I guess you misunderstood me, or I didn't make myself clear. I know, recognize and don't disagree with flag burning as an extension of free speech. I don't have to like it, but it is legal and I would not or will not ever argue that it should be otherwise. As for the term 'patriot humper' I don't particularly care who used it first or last, *I* still don't care for it. Nor do I believe my brand, or anyone else's patriotism is more or less than the next person and you will never hear me say otherwise.

I always feel late to the party, but will throw my two cents in anyway.
I honestly don't have very strong feelings on the flag. Would I personally burn one? No. But I stand by the right for those who do burn it because it is a protected form of speech. And I also completely understand why it makes people uncomfortable/upset.
What I think some people are reacting to in Trump's Twitter Tantrum (TTT - I need an easy abbreviation because I suspect I will be typing that phrase many times in the next four years) is not the disagreeing with flag burning, but his seeming lack of understanding of the Constitution, Supreme Court, and citizenship and his compulsion to make insane tweets not befitting a President-Elect and also often containing outright lies. But I do have to hand it to him - it seemed to be an effective campaigning tool and worked for him - so I can't imagine he would abandon it now. I think he's also crazy like a fox in using these crazy tweets to deflect from more serious issues.
And I think his tweet could produce something opposite of the intended effect. Flag burning will always remain a provocative act as long as it continues to elicit such strong reactions from people.
And my last thought - I don't really get the "gotcha" of bringing up the legislation Hillary supported a decade ago. Does that mean people who support Trump now also supported Hillary back then in connection with this legislation? I don't remember the legislation at the time and haven't taken the time to read up on it now, but I am guessing I would not have supported legislation such as that (and I imagine the cultural context at the time heavily played into the legislation in the first place). I appreciate that we live in a country with freedoms. I can't imagine living in a country with heavy government censorship or where even the smallest act or voice of dissent could send you to jail (or worse, disappear forever). And because we have those freedoms, it also means we will get some less than desirable behavior along with it.
