I suspect you already know the following facts and this is just another "rile them up" post, but just to save everyone time, I'd like to remind people to consider the source: someone who has started 16 threads in 30 days about politics/the election, at least 7 days of which you were placed in administrative time out. (Yes, I counted.)
And yes, I'm well aware that there are other left leaning Peas out there who have posted at least as many political threads since then (if not more), and yes, if they were to have written this OP, my response would be the same.

Based on his history it's unlikely that Trump will ever be or even act "presidential". It's just not in his DNA makeup.
This feeling was reinforced while watching the tributes come in for John Glenn. A repeated sentiment was he was a man who wanted to be of service to his country.
Something Trump doesn't understand. He only wants to be of service to himself and his "brand".

I'm doing my best to roll my eyes and scroll by, but I admit the sky is falling posts are killing me. No I don't agree with everything he says or all of his appointments, but I'm taking a wait and see approach. I certainly didn't agree with all of Obama's either and his term really hurt ME personally, but that doesn't mean he was a bad president and the sky didn't fall for everyone.
I read sarcasm in your post, but really another thread? The Trump supporters have clamed up here because there IS no discussion. Actually, I'm not even sure there are any supporters here, just some never Hillary folks (which certainly does not equal Trump supporters, no matter how many times you "general" try to say it does. It's very possible to not like either. ie....ME!)

Some really good people have left this board because of the ugliness of the Trump haters who were as abusive as they claim Trump is. So, they're left with me and a few others who aren't nearly as nice or as kind as the people they chased off. Notice we all keep hanging around despite being left with the "not so nice and kind" among you. I don't know why we liberals have to take the blame for the fact that a handful of conservative peas were thin skinned. No one can be "run off" who doesn't want to be. If I can put up with you, rainbow, Gia and that button person, they could certainly have put up with the few of us who are sharp-edged. There IS discussion here and plenty of it. We've actually had a pretty civil one over on your heartbeat bill thread. What there is not is tolerance for fake news sources and "I heard" being used as evidence in discussions, and that causes some people to get mad and feel like they're being picked on. From the conservative side, there is no tolerance for any liberal assertion that some ideas are racist, misogynist or otherwise morally wrong. We are not allowed to make moral judgements. Only conservatives on this board are apparently allowed to make moral judgements. So I call BS on the idea that people left because of the "ugliness of the Trump haters." They left because they were bothered by having their beliefs challenged and didn't like being asked to support what they asserted with facts. And they'll probably be back if they're not already. I know you're not interested in my opinion, Lauren. Just throwing it out there for the sake of discussion.  |
