Which proves that an hour of relative decency does not make Trump. The Trump during the joint address behaved as such because he had to; it did not mean, despite all the praise heaped, that he’s a changed man with an improved style. For someone so entrenched in the lessons his mentor, the mob lawyer Roy Cohn, has taught him, it is unrealistic to expect he go from unhinged to sedate for any sustained period. He’s a 70-year-old man who has always been combative and vindictive as far back as his childhood, and he’s not about to morph into another personality. NPR was right on the money when they claimed that with Trump, “there is no pivot and probably never will be.” This latest claim about Obama wiretapping Trump Tower, I think, is his reaction against the Sessions imbroglio. It must have stung that the positive press he received from the address was quickly overshadowed by Sessions. (As much as he denounces the press he’s always been a publicity hound, especially since the media is what built the Trump myth since the 1980s.) Never mind that his Obama accusation is made up or unrelated, what matters is he strikes back…at something or someone. When you have governance by the least experienced, there will be plenty of missteps and fatal mistakes (the quick death of the travel ban just being one). To deflect from those mistakes and rebuild political capital, he needs enemies, imagined or otherwise, to heap scorn upon. That’s the Trump way and it will always be so. The good stuff is his, the bad stuff is always someone else’s.

The Tweet about the Russian ambassador visiting the White House is among the more bizarre ones (and that's saying something!). Does he not understand the issue at all? Or does he figure his followers don't understand and are easily duped?

Of course the Russian ambassador visited the White House. It's the White House, and he's an ambassador.
The fact that Trump (and everyone) knows there were 22 visits during the past eight years proves that the visits were official and not being kept secret.
And no one has lied about them taking place.

Or does he figure his followers don't understand and are easily duped? That's the very question I keep asking myself. And I don't know which answer I prefer. I imagine we would all (the entire world) prefer that the US president has a much, much deeper understanding of how things work than he demonstrates in his tweets; but that means we would prefer to believe that HE believes he can dupe citizens this easily. Of course, worst scenario is he CAN dupe people this easily. (And is THAT worse than a presidential disconnect with reality?) And: "Very sacred election process"? This from the man who tried to delegitimatize the election process when he thought he would lose...and then again when he won and learned the popular vote results? You can't have it both way, Mr. President. The election process is either sacred or easily manipulated.

Or does he figure his followers don't understand and are easily duped? I have to admit, this is the one that made me shake my head...I would have assumed that everyone knew that part of the business of the White House is to meet with, liaise with, have discussions with, and otherwise interact with dignitaries from other countries? That have record of an ambassador there multiple times is to be expected in the course of governmental business? This is the craziest damn thing. Red Dawn and Sting singing "hope the Russians love their children too..." and that tv movie "The Day After" were a big part of my formative political opinions (I turned 18 in 1984) and I never, never ever in my wildest dreams thought that decades later I would still be hearing about Russians interfering in the US White House.

Sometimes I wonder what government knowledge I infer - because it just make sense - and what I know from watching "The West Wing" (e.g. ambassadors going to the WH for routine ceremonies/meetings or being summoned during a crisis). Whether or not the president is feigning ignorance, it's occurred to me more than once that we would all benefit if he were persuaded to turn off Fox News and binge-watch all seven seasons of "The West Wing."

Yup, somebody forgot to give him his meds last night. Maybe he thinks the collective bodies of the Justice Dept, Federal Judiciary, Intelligence Community, Obama, Democrats, the press, and Joe Blow down the street are all in cahoots to unseat him. For someone who accuses the entire media of fake news, he sure traffics ardently in conspiracy theories. OR maybe he just wants to distract the public from the growing concern about costs of his Mar-a-Lago weekend retreats. OR you could be right…someone forgot to give him his meds!

After all that tweeting he's going to have to make another prepared and rehearsed speech again! <<<insert whiny voice. That will make it "all better", right? He'll then be "presidential" again, right? (quote marks intended )

Random tweet about President Obama's master plan for wire tapping trump before the election.
Barack Obama's master plan: 1) Wiretap the opposition 2) Gather damaging info 3) Say nothing 4) Let him win 5) Ride off into the sunset
That shows one not only is trump paranoid, he isn't the brightest bulb on the block either.

Do you not have libel laws in the US? If you do I'd sue the heck out of him if I was Obama. What he's done isn't free speech it's defamation and lies unless he has proof that Obama did tap his phone.
and as for this tweet, yes a good lawyer would have a field day but not in the way he thinks they would and not to his advantage.
I'd bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!

11:52 AM - 4 Mar 2017The President of the US cannot be sued for actions undertaken as President, so I don't think libel laws could be utilized.

Now from Sean Spicer....
"(1/4) Reports concerning potentially politically motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling."
"(2/4) President Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees"
"(3/4) exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016."
"(4/4) Neither the White House nor the President will comment further until such oversight is conducted."
Of course they are not going to comment. This is just a ploy to move the faithful away from the real story of trump's connections to Russia.

A columnist I like by the name Greg Sargent summed up trump's latest rant very nicely I think.
"Real news in Spicer's latest: WH knows Trump made up wiretap, and is now dumping his whole mess on Cong Rs. Now they have to deal with it."
Edited to add. Yesterday a pea suggested nicely I should apologize because I agreed with a name applied to trump voters. I declined. Since then I have been thinking about it on and off.
This morning after reading the crap above and that in trump's budget the budget for the CDC is going slashed by about 12-13%. And that ICE is thinking of implementing a new procedure that if they catch families trying to sneak across the border they are going to separate the children from their parents.
I decided that if anyone should apologize it should be the trump voters to the rest of the American people for their poor judgement in voting for trump.
I get that immigration needs to be dealt with but this latest stunt ICE is considering does nothing but punish children who don't understand what's happening. We are better then that. Or at least I thought we were.
