Gia - it's not what you say - it's how you say it. You do not come across in the intelligent, thoughtful, and fair manner in which you seem to think you do.

Gia - it's not what you say - it's how you say it. You do not come across in the intelligent, thoughtful, and fair manner in which you seem to think you do. Bullshit. Pure and utter bullshit. What you mean is, I don't give in when I'm told I'm wrong. The list is long and just as full of shit as your reason for why I'm "wrong". When someone asked for a "real discussion" on a topic, I obliged in an indisputably civil and respectful discussion. I was told I was wrong because the difference between an automatic and semi-automatic weapon "is just me playing semantic word games". And then the pile on in agreement came after. And the history of responses to me and others who don't agree with the majority here is full of examples like that. It isn't just me. Look how many people on the Right don't participate anymore. Hell, look at this thread. You can't keep saying that they are just thin skinned and they don't like debate. At some point you have to admit to yourself, the part the people on the Left have in this. I've asked 4 times now and I'm still waiting for someone to show me a thread where those on the Right have ever been "right".

Can I ask an honest question? Why do posters on this board persist in having a dialog with an obviously unbalanced individual who constant derails discussions? I don't think anyone has to point out that the opinions are crazy and that they don't make sense. @devildog 's thread is a wonderful example of a reasonable discussion between so called liberals and conservatives, not this nonsense. Everything being posted by the crazy has been posted and disputed so many times, there is nothing new to discuss here. If everyone ignored the crazy it would go away. Everyone in agreement and of the only 2 people who bothered to participate with a different point of view, being declared wrong at every turn and someone posting inconvenient facts being called crazy is not a discussion. Neither is your demonizing anyone who doesn't agree with you.

One of the reasons @devildog 's thread is an example of reasonable discussion is because the person in question has not posted on it. But if she did I suspect the thread would start to go downhill like this one is starting to.
Why do people engage? I guess the answer might be the same for those who get frustrated on Political threads and for some reason can't scroll by. Lack of will power. We all display that lack of will power from time to time. On this thread we made it through 41 pages pretty much staying on the topic at hand before it started to go down hill yesterday. Because of that if tweeter-in-chief should start another twitter rant I will start another thread and we can see how many pages we will hit before it's infected. How do you explain all the threads that "went down hill" when I wasn't participating for a month and a half? Good times....ahhh good times....

Nope, that's not what she means at all, once again, you twist and change what someone else has said because you don't like it. You are guilty of exactly what you blame others for. Repeatedly.

You just don't get it.
I can't walk into a room of Trump supporters and and continually correct them, tell them they are wrong by stomping my feet and repeating over and over again why I am right and they are wrong without getting 'beat up'.
If I want to share a differing opinion, I need to do it thoughtfully and and carefully.
When you post in these threads - you know youre the minority yet you come in like a bull in a China shop and get mad when everyone isn't happy to 'see' you.
Many of the people on the right left right after the election when things were very ugly here. Its a shame but it was their choice - hopefully they will choose to come back one day.

With Trump as president - no one is going to say you are right.
It's not a left / right thing - it's a Trump thing.
If another republican was president - I'm sure you would find what you are looking for.
If you do get it - why hasn't your posting style changed? Your writing style comes across as very combative. What you think you say and how you are perceived are completely different.

Don't bother answering her Clair, she's good at redirecting the question and topic to something she wants where she can gave her "gotcha" moment. There probably aren't any threads where conservatives have told liberals that they were right in an equal scenario. It will never sink in with her. Not to mention that anyone with a different viewpoint is just that--different--and NOT always "wrong". Wrong and different are NOT the same.

Thanks Papercrafteradvocate - you are right - I shouldn't bother.
I'll slink back into my coastal elite life for the night - hating Trump and enjoying this 85 degree weather by taking a trip to Starbucks with the top down and maybe a walk on the beach after that.

So tiny hand's released his budget....
"A budget that puts #AmericaFirst must make safety its no. 1 priority—without safety there can be no prosperity: 45.wh.gov/NF9wr4"
I'm not sure how he can boast "AmericaFirst" and make "safety it's no. 1 priority" when his cuts put American citizens at risk. Without clean water and air, to name a few victims of his budget, there can't be true prosperity.
One of his cabinet guys out selling the budget acknowledged that you can't drain the swamp without cutting the federal workforce.
And since there will be less folks able to buy health care insurance which means they will have to for go visits to the doctor which means there will be large job cuts in the health industry. (In my little county it's estimated 2,000 will lose their jobs.)
So we have probable large job cuts in the federal workforce and the health care workforce.
These jobs are spread across the country. Not localized like the trump supporters who want trump to bring back those $30 an hour jobs. That being the case they will have a bigger affect on the economy. Cause if these guys aren't working they don't have a whole lot of disposable income to spend. Which means they can't buy those new cars, or much of anything else, and that means there will be no demand for the products that require the $30 an hour workers.
I know trump wants to spend money on the infrastructure but an increase of jobs in one industry can't carry the economy. Especially since they only last the length of the job unlike jobs in the federal government and health care which are ongoing.

So in other words kids shouldn't be fed if it doesn't improve their performance???
Mulvaney: No evidence that after-school programs to help kids get fed improves performance.

There's no evidence that Obama wire tapped Trump Tower, either, but Congress is still going to investigate to see if they can FIND any evidence.
By that reasoning, it doesn't matter whether there's evidence that a program works or not; it should still be done. Right?

Well this good to know....
"White House budget chief: Proposed cuts to Meals on Wheels are compassionate to taxpayers"
Jerk!
As a senior I do not use Meals on Wheels but I know it helps home bound seniors.
As a taxpayer I want my tax dollars to fund programs like this and feeding kids and not to build another missle. Unless that missle is shoved someplace.

Another program president "I'm going to bring back those jobs" trump is gutting...
"Among the avalanche of federally funded programs President Trump wants to hollow out is the Manufacturing Extension Partnership. It's a modest operation that exists solely to help small and medium-size companies create and maintain good-paying American manufacturing jobs — the kind of jobs the president promised to protect.
The MEP, launched in 1988 under the Reagan administration, received $143 million this year from the Commerce Department, or 43 cents per taxpayer. The program estimated its impact in a report this year. “For every one dollar of federal investment, the MEP national network generates $17.9 in new sales growth for manufacturers,” the authors wrote. “. . . For every $1,501 of federal investment, MEP creates or retains one manufacturing job.”
