6 days of rain! They said we'll get 2 months worth of rain with these storms. They are worried about flooding. Stay safe and dry everyone!

I was just whining about having to go to DS's school tonight. They have a typical CA layout with all the classrooms opening to the outside and paths instead of enclosed hallways, so we are going to get soaked moving between rooms. I'll be rummaging through the garage looking for umbrellas before we leave.
The good news is the forecast prompted me to get out and shop today so I have everything I need to do a little organization project over the next few days.

Sooooo not ready for the rain. I drove to school this afternoon to pick up my genius grandson because it was raining (we only live a few blocks away, but it was raining). Said genius child opened the car window and let in the rain. When I yelled, he tried to close the window and it wouldn't go up. Yep, window mechanism is broken on the first day of a week-long rain storm. I have an appointment to take it in tomorrow AM. Hopefully it will not be raining too hard in the morning.

I made sure to hit the grocery store and Target on my way home. I want to stay out of the rain (and traffic) as much as possible.

I once had to drive in a torrential rainstorm to the dealer to get my car window fixed. Of wait...now that I remember correctly, my brother drove my car to the dealer in torrential rainstorm and I followed in his nice and dry car. I was honestly thinking that I drove, but my brother drove for me. Well--it was a nightmare for him. I remember anytime a big truck would drive by, he would get extra soaked. I hope it goes better for you. My window never did work the same...

I'm headed up to Bakersfield on Thursday/Friday, so I'm hoping the bands of rain will be in between my drive times.
After the last round of storms, it seems that these storms as they head east are creating terrible weather for the midwest. We think rain is bad, but those ice storms were crazy! I hope this weather system isn't as bad as the last one was.
Stay safe and dry everyone!

My window got real slow during the last storm last week and I was lucky to get it up. I haven't used it since! Another one stopped working a few months ago just as I was entering an automatic car wash. The poor wash guy pulled it up and stuffed rags in it just in time! Back to the storms. It is not only pouring, but the wind. Driving home from work was crazy. Listening to the online scanner, there are already many trees, lines down and mudslides on this first day of the first of three storms.

I'm sick of it. And I am never one to say that. I used to love the rain and always lamented about how little we get. Now I'm a horse owner and my horses desperately need to see the farrier to get their pedicures. He won't come out in the rain and I don't blame him. But those hooves are a mess and I can't stand to look at them.

It is pounding in here.. my poor dh took the public train downtown and should be coming home in it now.. 20-40 mph and wind. I worry about him.. going to pick him up at station.. I worry about our church roof blowing off.. and the branches coming down from the tree across the street. I am prepared as far as gear.. so don't care about that.

You all are cracking me up. I know - it sounds ridiculous, right? It can really be a problem though. Flooding can happen quickly, followed by mudslides. When there hasn't been rain in a while, the roadways get a buildup of oil and then become slippery when they get wet. People here sometimes don't have a lot of experience driving in rain, so they go too fast on the freeway and hydroplane, then panic because they don't know what to do. I grew up in the Northeast, and what happens on the roadways here when it rains is pretty similar accident-wise to what happens there after a heavy snowfall.

I have my doors in my bedroom open right now listening to the rain. I love everything about the rain -- except it makes so many hiking trails way too muddy to hike. But I love the waterfalls and the green that it brings. I hiked over on the Bolinas ridge last weekend and it was amazing.

Flooding, mudslides, and rock slides are super funny!
I am going to work late tomorrow. I usually leave before the sun comes up but I'm not going to risk flipping on the slick freeway. I get that we normally live in perfect weather, but there are so many people who are unprepared to deal with this kind of rainfall. I'm thankful for a good drainage system in my yard so my house won't flood.

I hear the pitter patter as we speak. I'm bundled up, crocheting a scarf for my friend and baking cookies for DH. I'm fine with the rain until I have to drive to work tomorrow.

We're used to it up here for the most part. Stay safe down there!!

My sister once drove my 1972 Toyota Corona from Baton Rouge to Pensacola to visit her pilot DH. Said Toyota had a broken driver-side windshield wiper and the part was on order....from Japan!! She drove through a huge thunder storm having to lean over and see through the passenger-side front window. Our weather forecast is for rain tonight, dry tomorrow and rain again on Friday and the weekend. They are putting DS's new flooring and carpet in his townhouse tomorrow so we are keeping our fingers crossed for dry weather.

We were in a drought for years and then the rains hit two summers in a row and we still haven't recovered from the damage. I live in the foothills of some big mountains. I was really cracking up at the people who have to walk in the rain! Good luck on your weather. Hope the rain spaces itself out so the ground can absorb most of it!

Rain will be hitting here soon, within the hour.
I know it sounds very funny to many of you, but because of the lack of rain here, people do not know how to drive in it! We have 10X more accidents on rainy days in our already congested freeways down here.
As a teacher, my poor kiddos will be stuck indoors with no recess for the next 4 school days (according the forecast). They need to get their wiggles out.
Stay safe everyone.

Had lunch outside at a beachside restaurant - was complaining about the cold - it was 65 degrees and we had heaters. The main topic of conversation was the upcoming storms.
Now, I don't plan on leaving the house until the storms are gone.
I love rain but I don't want to drive in it.
I just don't get how you, cold weather people do it!

I live on a hill and have a super unusual for San Diego basement. Hopefully it doesn't flood. It gets kind of crazy when the water floods down the hill, luckily I'm not at the very bottom but somewhere near it. Looking forward to a green spring!

I need to get new windshield wipers for my car. I discovered they had developed a crack in them during the last rain. I guess I should have taken care of it prior to this rain session. At least I don't have to go anywhere in the next few days, so I'll just wait it out and get them sometime next week. I still love the rain.

We were supposed to get hit this morning but so far nothing. I know Nor Cal is out of the drought, but we here are still in extreme drought conditions, so please, bring on that rain, baby! I'm nervous about the planned protests tomorrow in downtown LA. I hope it POURS and keeps the riff raff intent on mayhem home. Saturday's women's march it should be dry, so the rain won't soak those..err..pink knitted kitty hats.
