I'm sure she's just trolling again, but she's had her tail up for a bit and nothing is coming out poop wise. Then, she's turning her head to her back side and giving her tail area a frustrated look and almost looks like she's biting at her flanks. She'll have the baby two days after I give up checking in on her.

I've been busy today and haven't checked on her. So just now it suddenly occurred to me that I might have missed it. I thought to myself !! omg !! and rushed to the page.
Nope.

Omg too cute! I went back to the video right after I posted just above and someone was feeding her lettuce RIGHT in front of the camera. He/she would hold out the lettuce so April had to stick out her tongue at the camera, then she'd eat it. Then when the lettuce was gone the person gave a thumbs up at the camera. lololol

3/20 Evening Update
"It Takes a Village"
This evening I thought I would share with you a different perspective. Often people ask for the vet report - well here it is in his words to his following colleagues:
April Update - still happy, still healthy, still not in labor. Predicting these things is next to impossible, so I go by physical and behavioral changes that the staff and I observe each day. In theory, that helps us kind of hone in on a window where she could go into labor... unlike a dog, cat, human, horse, cow, goat, etc there simply isn't enough consistent data to say tomorrow she'll go into labor. When you are working with a world-wide spectacle you can imagine how aggravating that is. So today not much in the physical change department but behaviorally she is a little off. She didn't come running over when I got there and took a bit of coaxing to kiss the camera for carrots after my visit.
There is a team of people behind ensuring April is happy and healthy, but also in maintaining, controlling, and addressing the worldwide attention and inquiry.
Tomorrow, we will be installing some new enrichment items that will be seen from camera view. a bumper for "tossing around" and also a puzzle feeder! Install should be around 10 am EST - so watch the Live Feed!
Good night everyone!

I'll have my phone on my desk at work to peek at the puzzle feeder and things being installed tomorrow. The daily "Hay Showers" crack me up. Animal behavior is so fascinating. That picture of her in tonight's update. I melted. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/love.jpg.gif)

Crazy morning so little late...sorry.
3/21 Morning Update
Not much to note is changes over night, however, we encourage you to compare today's belly size to even a week ago, to see just how far we have come! We would like to think we are in the home stretch - but of course keep our opinions and thoughts to ourselves (as we have been wrong before).
This morning around 10 am - we will be moving enrichment items into camera view for our guests to see some of the activity that keeps our giraffes' interest. We replaced older items thank to your contributions! Boat Buoys and bumpers are not inexpensive!
Anytime we change or alter something in their giraffes' space - you will see their curiosity come to life. With this curious trait, we bring forward our caution. Giraffes can and do get themselves into trouble with eir curious nature which can prove fatal. We will watch these new enrichment items the next few days to ensure they are in fact "Giraffe Proof".
Giraffe Factoid of the Day:
Giraffes can go longer without a drink than camels! They get most of their water from their plant-based diet—which is good considering their height makes the process of drinking difficult and makes them vulnerable!
Photo from Oliver's first week -- wanting a carrot - but making the guests work for it!

April's caregiver gave her carrots this morning right in front of the camera and my daughter and I were hysterical at her long tongue and soulful eyes. I checked in on my break from work and still no baby. Looking forward to a safe delivery and a cute baby calf soon!!

3/21 Evening Update Keeper Report: April seems to be a bit more "off", dare we say agitated today (later day). April has had some serious back end swell and pulse today, witnessed by Jordan & Corey prior to enrichment install. Both giraffes enjoyed their newest enrichment toys until Oliver broke his and we went back to the drawing board. Improvements made and the will be re-introduced tomorrow around 9:30 am EST - be sure to tune in! What the heck was the vet doing today and why was April put off? Vet Report: "So if you were watching me in with her this evening (6:30ish) you would have seen a fairly cranky giraffe... you also would have seen me in there with a little white box looking thing. This is my doppler. Over the past few weeks I've been trying to desensitize her to seeing, hearing and being touched by it. It's easy to forget that she is a big and dangerous creature, you have to be real careful with how far you push them. Odds & Ends: April the Giraffe Apparel store will be back up next week! The store is working hard to send out more items than are in most stores in your local mall! www.Aprilthegiraffe.com continues to have all official links and most current live feed link! Photo from Allysa's recognition during Zookeeper Appreciation Week 2016. Good night world from Animal Adventure!

Lol at Oliver breaking his new enrichment toys, I didn't see what they were. I'm not sure why but I was sort of expecting a giraffe jungle gym of sorts when I finally was able to peak in at them during my lunch break! I didn't see them either. I got busy at work and missed them. We'll have to tune in tomorrow when they put them back. And yeah, I saw the vet visit, and she was definitely a bit crabby with him, lol. Poor thing. I don't like being prodded and poke at by doctors either, so I don't blame her.

3/22 Morning Update
A Quick One!
Giraffe puzzle feeders return at 9:30 am for your viewing pleasure - lets see how long they last!
Keepers report April is very moody and off from her normal self -- this is a good thing. Back end continues to progress to our satisfaction.
We hope by the weekend or early next week the giraffes will return outside. Enrichment is used to stimulate the animals' body and mind! Enrichment for our giraffes is increased during longer indoor stays.
Giraffe Factoid: Giraffes spots and patterns are like fingerprints! No two giraffes are the same!

I'm beginning to think she's NOT pregnant! Maybe she has just gained weight so she can get extra treats and attention? They said in one of the info videos that they weren't exactly sure of the date of conception. Apparently giraffes cycle every 17 days. They were initially going by "a" date of known relations but that due date has passed, along with 17 days from that original due date. She's probably closing in on what would be a due date for the cycle after that. So really - it's a guessing game.
I kinda wish they had been more specific about that in their updates. It does seem as if they're stringing it along.

Last night Ollie was bumping his while April was watching and he knocked it off the fence. They both just stared at it on the ground, then looked at each other with what I swear was perplexed expressions. It was hilarious.

She really needs to keep better track of her cycle....perhaps she should use an app ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)
