3/17. Evening Update "Nose in the air, don't care" This shot was actually taken mid "April Hay-Showers". This is a commonly observed behavior as April empties their enrichment feeder and rains perfectly good hay down her back side. Photo is a week or so old. Allysa reports the calf has mastered karate! She has never felt or seen more activity within. April is also eating everything in sight. Likely no St. Patrick's calf; but she is prepping for something! Enjoy your weekend; I would suggest watching - as we just don't know what is next! If you must pull away - rest assured - we will have the birth documented and released for viewing soon after. Good night world! Good night April!

Saturday morning east coast USA. No baby. I'm telling you, it's all a fake. They're just putting us on to see how many people they can suck into wasting their days watching a giraffe saunter around her enclosure.

3/18. Morning Update
Keepers report continued giraffe calf cartwheels inside mom's belly! Appetite is strong, but notice minimal "hay showers" this morning. Perhaps her mind is elsewhere.
Belly has noticeably dropped further, keepers report almost a ...get ready for it... egg shape to her now.
Any of you watching this early morning witnessed some beautiful moments between mom and her belly. As it shows in photo, April napped with her extended back head onto her belly.
Giraffe Factoid: Giraffes have long thought to have been silent; however it was recently proven giraffes will hum to one another, outside of human hearing capacity range. Is April "talking" to her baby?

3/18 Evening Update High and Tight. Both Dr Tim and park owner Jordan, stopped in this afternoon to check in - which lead many to believe "something was happening"! April continues to be in great condition. Many noticed her belly was very low and egg shaped this morning; however, as the day moved on, observation was of a higher and tighter/firmer carry and feel to the belly. Back end swell is almost double what it was days ago. These are all steps in the right direction. This evenings photos are of that massive baby bump and the udder. We will try to give you visual updates on and off, so you too can see what the keepers see. Now, to clear the air on copyright and usage of our Giraffe Cam. No person, channel, vlog, or hobbyist has our blessing or permission to use any part of our cam in realtime, recorded restream, or still photo on YouTube, social media platforms or websites. Bonafide News agencies that have reached out, have been given a written release to use the stream in realtime on their social media platforms, but are also restricted from recording and reusing content. The recent copyright steps and restricted use statement is the result of significant fraud and misrepresentation that is occurring. Victims are reaching out to us after being taken advantage of on unauthorized YouTube streams. It's saddening. Our hand has been forced to begin to take back control of all content, and go back to our one and only authorized live video - viewable at www.aprilthegiraffe.com

3/19 Morning Update Keepers have noted a calming down of the calf and April carrying everything a bit towards the rear. This is exactly what we want! Wax caps are still in place. Appetite remains strong. The photo below was shot last summer as April and Oliver tongue fight over a guests carrot offering! Can't find the Live Feed? Www.aprilthegiraffe.comWe return to our super chat sessions with keepers and park staff - tonight; 8-9:30 pm. Sunday - Thursday Giraffe Fact of the Day: The closest living relative of the giraffe is the okapi. Giraffe and Okapi are the only living members of the family Giraffidae. The family was once much larger but all other members are now extinct. Preservation and conservation matters!

awwww... April is resting with her head on her belly!! I love when she does that! Did you read the one giraffe fact about how they hum, which we can't hear, but maybe she's talking to her baby. Too cute.

Bless her heart. She has gotten so much plumper these past few days. It's exciting to know the baby will come any second, but it is still making me a little crazy. C'mon April! We'll need a new animal to stalk after she gives birth, lol!

Beautiful creatures! lol, I've actually been coming here to check your posts of their updates before going to their FB page to see the pics. I feel awful to know that people are using their generosity in sharing this with us, to scam others. Disgusting.

A couple hours ago she stood stock still with tail raise for a couple minutes, no poop. I was sure that was the start. I also convinced myself I saw tips of hooves. I was ready to send up the bat signal (giraffe signal?)!

3/19 Evening Update
"Holy Smokes"
Keeper report is "holy smokes" baby is sticking out. It is very evident in visual observations that the calf is moving up and sticking out! All are happy with progress, we are not in labor at this time.
Temperatures are warming and snow is melting. We hope to have the giraffes outside soon! Excitingly - a new batch of enrichment items should be arriving tomorrow and will be installed for viewer enjoyment!
Hope all had a great weekend and we look forward to another week and hopefully the arrival of our long awaited calf.

She's sitting on the floor right now. Either the little one is moving a ton or her abdomen is contracting. It's enough movement now that she rocks back and forth with it. She was standing when I looked in earlier. She's looking uncomfortable when she stands. Like it's just too much effort to keep that belly up.
I, too, have caught the tail up and thought she was about to deliver. So disappointing when the delivery isn't a baby giraffe.

FB update:
3/20 Morning Update
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Spring!
Keeper report is that belly/baby continue to stay towards the back end. Observation over night peaked our interest a few times, but nothing to report just yet. April is eating but not as ravenous as days prior.
No pressure April the Giraffe, but April the month isn't far away!
Today's photo is also part of our Giraffe Factoid:
June 21st, each year, is known as World Giraffe Day! The longest day is dedicated to the longest necked animals of the world! Celebrate with us, or your hometown zoo or animal park, and learn about and how to support giraffe conservation. Our partner through April's Journey and World Giraffe Day is the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
Photo is of Jordan & Allysa providing Oliver and April their annual World Giraffe Day treat at noon!

She physically looks so uncomfortable, being that large and stretched but it's amazing how animals are great at hiding it. Survival instincts.

For this entire time I've been watching (couple minutes before work, at my lunch break then in the evenings ) I've never seen these enrichment activities that the park has mention. I read that they'll be getting new ones today that we'll see on camera. Curious to see what they are.

"peaked" our interest...ugh. How about "piqued". Yeah, I'm one of those people.... When it's going out to the public -- as in public service announcements from the zoo -- things should be spelled correctly. Okay, got that out. Now about April... sigh. The zoo says the month of April is almost here, meaning it would be cute if April the Giraffe gave birth in the month of April...? omg, I hope we don't have to wait that long! This is only March 20, still a LOT of days left before April. Oh yeah, and I forgot my usual morning announcement... April is STILL pregnant.

BABY GIRAFFE WATCH: "Keeper report is 'holy smokes' baby is sticking out," says Animal Adventure Park. "It is very evident in visual observations that the calf is moving up and sticking out!" Still no active labor, but April is closer than ever!
