Right now the tonic one is only sold by a company called hochanda. It's like hsn but with only craft stuff. It doesn't appear to be in stock but they don't ship to the US.
Some UK companies did have it for preorder before it was a hochanda exclusive and I think they were able to fulfill those.

lilacgal - was that in the description before? Although if she says it "contains" that verse, I'd assume that means there's a little slip of paper included in the box with the verse printed on it, not that the verse is etched into the tool itself- big difference! Peamac , I have no idea. Like I said, I was just curious and went to see what it was. I primarily stamp on my scrapbook pages which is why I never likely paid much attention to this product. I'd read about people being surprised by the verse and noticed she was now advertising that the misti "contains" it. I don't know when she added this information. I visited her site for the first time a few days ago. While I personally don't mind that verse, I can see how people would. I was surprised to see a reference to a Bible verse on my milkshake once. It didn't bother me - was just surprised. I know most companies don't want to alienate potential customers with religion. I don't expect my crafting tools (or milkshakes) to be preaching to me. If it's from where I think it's from, just be glad you have In n Out Burger. lol. I wish we had it here.

I see it sold out on Hochanda and other places seem to still be showing it for pre-order only. I really hope they continue!

Thanks to everyone who chimed in and explained My "sweet" Petunia's Bible-thumping and Christian facade. Clearly, that's a rabbit hole I still need to explore. I didn't realise she had such a me-good-Christ-follower attitude as a business owner. I also hadn't read about the Bible verse on (with?) the Misti until this thread. Gosh, what a mess. Can anyone upload a quick photo of the Bible verse that comes with the Misti? It's my understanding it's actually on the product. I'd love a confirmation from a Misti owner. Is there any news regarding Tonic Studios? It looks like we're beyond the cease & desist stage and that they're actually close to being sued. The platform is still not available in France. Someone on YouTube mentioned they'd already bought it in the UK but I can't find it yet. eta: it's underneath the clear plastic. {deleted to save space}

Slight thread hi-jack: Can you still get the Stampoholic replacement rulers to change the original Misti's color? I'd love to coverup that pink! (And whispering quietly....where is the Bible verse located on the Misti? I have to admit I'm so totally unobservant that I've never noticed it . I'm not at home right now, but I'm majorly curious about the verse and its location. The fact that it even exists irrationally irritates me. That it's not advertised that's it's on there irritates me even more. ) Yes, I have them for sale at my store still.

A bible (or koran, or any other religious) quote on my milkshake wouldn't bother me, particularly. It's a relatively inexpensive item that you consume and then throw away the cup. But on a tool that costs a fair chunk of change, without letting people know it's there? Totally different thing. And I agree, saying that the Misti "contains" the verse makes it sound like you can remove it if you want. Not that it's permanently imprinted.

I am posting this on the stamp positioner threads because I haven't seen this bit of news anywhere yet. I just received this today for my TH stamping platform preorder from ACOT:
Hello!
Tonic, the manufacturer of the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, has notified us of the launch of the new, improved Tim Holtz Stamping Platform Model 1707e in place of the Model 1708e as previously announced. They expect to start shipping the revised Model 1707e within the next 6 - 8 weeks. If we have further updates, we will pass it along to you.
Thanks for being so patient!

lilacgal So she has figured it out and knows some us are beyond mad about the verse and she doesn't want to get sued. When I almost ordered the MISTI (before finding the big thread over here) she never had that verse listed on her site. I looked for it after I found out about the verse. I wondered why was she doing that. At first I was not mad about it. I thought maybe she was putting the verse on the press and donating some of the profits to a charity. I want to see what charity it was. I looked pretty hard all over her site for that verse. I am with Gale if your milkshake was from In n Out that is ok, lol. I want one too. No seriously disposable items don't bother me. That is very common in my area. I know In n Out like Hobby Lobby is a Christian based company so walking in I already expect that. I also know that both companies donate a lot of their profits to charity too. Now, that My Sweet Petunia has sold over a million MISTI's is now considered to be a larger company where are her verse profits going to? oaksong In my area yes there are Christians that do think subliminal conversion is a thing. They even have seminars on it. Funny but true. I have a friend that practices it. I love him to pieces but I am like "Don't!" He's a sweetie and he doesn't think he causes any harm.

Thanks for sharing, BSnyder ! I'm beyond curious to know which improvement they're bringing to the platform to get My Sweet Petunia's legal team off their back once and for all. If they're shipping in 6 to 8 weeks, it can't be anything major in the design or they'd need to manufacture all the platforms over again, right? It ought to be something that can be done to the currently existing platforms... Any ideas? I'm going out on a limb and speculating it is not adding a bible verse.

Because the model number is going down instead of up, My first guess is that they are using a previous iteration of the design, rather than what they'd intended to sell. It could also mean 7 hinge bits instead of 8 or something like that. The words "new, improved" is just marketing. LOL

The In and Out verses are very small, and kind of hidden. Not so "in your face" as the Misti. Attachments:

LOL Haha, maybe they're just taking out a hinge and telling themselves: "It'll hold up just as well!" Or maybe ACOT just got their numbers wrong? If they're indeed going for an earlier version, it sounds like they're going to be left with quite a bit of stock of the 1708 version to sell off on non-US markets.

Yeah, I really wish the stamp celebs would quit endorsing the misti. I think it makes them look bad to affiliate themselves with her unchristian like behavior. This exactly plus 1000!!!! I won't watch videos, read blogs, follow Instagram or shop at any of her affiliated supporters who receive her products for free or sell them. If your not affiliated and still use the Misti I still do watch your videos and follow your Instagram. I know a lot of people don't know really who she is and are just excited to be able to stamp. Like somebody with crippling arthritis who could never stamp before. She really has helped a lot of people be creative that could not before. Her attitude just makes that so heartbreaking. I live in a large Christian area. We are the buckle of the bible belt. My town is very supportive of small businesses. My DH works for a small business that is very Christian based. They even give out things with Christian sayings. Around here that is the normal. Go to a small pharmacy and receive your prescriptions in a bag with a bible verse. If the MISTI owner was from my area and acting the way she does there would be an uproar and she would be boycotted. I have lived in my town for 30 years. When I first moved here, Christianity was the predominant religion. That is no longer true. This has made me very curious about the issue of putting a religious saying on a patented product. If it is legal to do so? The government has basically said that nobody else can produce the product. If someone objects to the saying, is their only option to go without the product? Does anyone know if this issue has been addressed with other products, or where the law stands on this? I'm just curious, because I had never really thought about this before the Misti was patented.

If their customers don't like it, they can choose to not buy it or just cover it up. I would imagine it would be the same with a product that has a sports team on it- if I didn't like the team logo on it, I would either not buy it or just cover it up.

Totally not illegal. Just ridiculous. Like a comedian discusses in this clip about people who treat every conversation as an opening to preach: "How are you doin'?" "How am I doin'?!? I'm blessed and highly favored brother, how about yourself?"

I find it interesting that JM hasn't been using her MISTI lately. In the video I just watched, it would have made sense to stamp the image a few times before embossing it, so I was sure she was going to pull it out. Nope. She used a regular acrylic block and stamped it only once. She used to use that thing in almost every video.

She has definitely been one of the loyal MISTI supporters from the beginning of the controversy. I noticed that in her most recent MFT video, Vicky P used a MISTI on her first card, and not on the rest, where it would have totally made sense to do so. I would imagine that they're both disappointed in not getting a Tonic too. We're not the only ones who think it looks awesome!

I don't think I'll be buying the Tonic/TH positioner, since I already have 3 others. I have the WRMK Precision Press, the small HA Stamp Perfect, and the large HA Stamp Perfect (a replacement from HA, since my small one had a misaligned grid). At the risk of having virtual tomatoes thrown at me, I have to say that Tim Holtz often releases products that have been "inspired" by other products already out on the market. He puts his own spin on them, but there is a definite resemblance, sometimes a close one. He has every right to do that. Companies do that all the time. He has also released some very original and unique products, which other companies have been "inspired" by. MSP was obviously inspired by the WRMK Letterpress when she designed her MISTI. However, the big difference to me is that other companies never went after the DIY-ers who shared ideas for making their own. I'm all for protecting your rights, but not at the expense of someone else's rights.
Stepping off my soapbox now.

I'm almost positive that when I was looking at the WRMK fb page, in a thread about the new labeler, someone ( Delta Dawn??) mentioned using clear label tape over regular washi and the WRMK rep said what a great idea. So they aren't totally averse to someone using a different method to achieve the same results a WRMK product will make. Even on their own fb page.

I don't think most of us doubt how great the misti is (as long as it doesn't crack). It's the owner and her way of doing business that we don't agree with. I use my misti almost every time I stamp. But if I was buying today, after the experience I had (not to mention reading about other people's experiences), I would not buy another one.

I feel I'm in the minority of being in camp misti. And that's okay. The peas in general can have strong opinions. Personally I like to read all sides of issues because then sometimes I find I've missed something. So I really do try to keep an open mind. I just don't have respect for women stepping on other women while building their business so I choose not to line their pockets. But I do respect other's opinions if they differ from mine. I just shrug my shoulders and move on.

I feel I'm in the minority of being in camp misti. People like what they like, and that's ok. When the misti first came out, I cringed at the price, but I was planning on buying one anyway. Even though I could see that it would be pretty easy to replicate, I wanted to vote with my $$ and support an entrepreneur who seemed to have a great idea. Then she started up with threatening people who had made copies. I could ~somewhat~ see where she was coming from, but these were not people who were going to sell what they were making, and they were not people who were ever going to spend the $$ for hers, so they weren't costing her sales. So, I still thought I wanted one, but I was somewhat less enthusiastic. THEN she threatened a fan group on Facebook - who would have effectively INCREASED her sales, because they were people who had the darn things and liked using them - because the name MISTI was trademarked and she didn't give them permission to use it! The group had to change their name, but even that wasn't good enough for Queen Petunia, because if you looked at the URL of the group, it still had "misti" buried in it. They had to completely close down the group and rename it. About that same time, someone that I liked & admired on Splitcoast was banned from those boards because she had the unmitigated gall to question whether Jennifer McGuire had paid for hers, or whether it was given to her. That's when I decided that this was one entrepreneur that I wasn't going to support. And that was even before all the reports of the cracking and no warranty and the stealth religious verse was known. I have the Tonic platform on preorder.
