I live in New Zealand. I live in a decidedly average home, not a lodge or holiday house at the beach. I don't bungee jump or fly around the glorious mountains in a helicopter. If I want to get to the top of a mountain, I have to climb it (and I do).

I am a life long Minnesotan, but I would never try Lutefisk! I am not a Viking fan, either. And also I don't sound like I walked off the set of Fargo, have never been downhill or cross country skiing and never went to any of the Minneapolis Aquatennial events or to a Holidazzle parade. In addition to these things, I don't "go to the lake", deer hunt or make green jello.

I am in NJ and I do not eat Taylor ham or pork roll. Those pork roll and egg sandwiches are so greasy and disgusting.

crazy4scraps Oh, I hated the movie Fargo! Although, once when I was in New Jersey for business, a gentleman asked me if he detected a Minnesota accent! It thought that was pretty funny. Ha ha! I don't think I've ever seen the whole movie all the way through. The exaggerated accents are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. And it drives me absolutely NUTS when DH says, "You bet!" to someone. Uggghhhh!

I was born and raised in MD. I think I've picked crabs once in my life. I like crab - just never got into the whole crabfest thing. Me too! But I love crabs! I don't live in MD now, I live in PA. Where in MD are you from?

Born and raised in Arkansas. Not a Republican, not conservative, not an Evangelical Christian.
Never been to dig for diamonds. I always think I'll go, but never get around to it. Maybe I'll go on my vacation in a few weeks.

I'm from Michigan and I hate Vernors and Better Made chips. I do love me some cherries and tulips, though. I am from Maryland, but have family in Southfield, MI so we used to go there in the summer. My 6th grade teacher loved Vernor's and we got him some every time we went to MI!

So Cal - don't surf or ski (they remind us we can do both the same day) and hate driving here now (85 mile commute every day); hubby used to boogie board, but not so much anymore. Hoping to see the Getty in a couple of weeks - yay I would have finally gone to a museum in the last 20 years! LOL Total homebody. I absolutely loved the Getty Center! I haven't visited the Getty Villa in Malibu yet, but hope to do so. Everything about it was so amazing. We spent all day there, and just as it was getting dark, they turned on all the outside lights and it was like a fairytale. I wish it would have remained open at night, but unfortunately, they did not. I purchased a few books on the making of the Getty buildings, and the story of all that incredible travertine stone they brought over from Italy. They went right onto my bookshelf and have stayed there ever since. I should make an effort to get up there one more time before I leave the state. I would recommend definitely making the effort to go if you enjoy looking at art. ------- I've lived in California all my life, which is 60+ years now. I tried surfing once in my teens, but found it much more fun to watch my boyfriend surf while I remained on the beach and play with everybody's dogs. I guess I have done most of the touristy things to do in this state, some of them as field trips when I was in school. I don't know what is typically Californian to most people? I think the majority of the things people think of are centered around Los Angeles, San Francisco, or even San Diego. I was born in LA County and lived there during my school years. Once I married, we moved to Orange County, which is between LA and San Diego. Orange County is pretty much just residential homes and the beaches on the coast, of course. Nothing really stands out about it. At least that I can think of. I have never been filmed for anything, but my niece is an actress. She has met some of the big famous stars, but most of those were when she was working as a waitress and they would have meetings in the private dining room. My parents were both born in Canada, and that may be why I have never really felt like I belonged in California. Many of the men I have dated have told me I am not like most California women, so I guess that is a good thing? At least I assumed so, since they were telling me that to my face. haha SaveSave

I am in So Cal (behind the Orange curtain) and have always been a Democrat. I have never played the lottery, eaten sushi, been to a grunion run, surfed nor been friends with any surfers. But I have always been a " hair girl", cruised the boulevard in custom low riders and been on a lot of poker runs.

I'm pretty stereotypically Southern Californian... I love wine tastings, I love craft beer, the beach is my safe space, I have a banana seat bike, avocados are a main staple in my diet.....I don't drive a Prius? And I don't have solar panels on my roof? That's all I can think of.

I'm in South Carolina and want no affiliation whatsoever with the confederate flag. (And thank goodness, more and more people in this state have moved to that stance.)

I'm in Southern California and do a lot of touristy things, like hang out on the piers (Santa Monica or Redondo), camp on the beach, visit at least 2 amusement parks per year, party in Mexico beach towns before I was 20. But I've never surfed (mostly because I can't swim), nor done the beach in the morning and mountains at night. It's just too tiring. I'm not a wine drinker.

Not everyone who lives in New York lives in the city. In fact, I've never been. New York is so much more than the city!

I was raised on Long Island, NY. I have never pronounced it "Lawn-Guyland" (however, on rare occasions, an "idear" for "idea" or "peet-zer" for "pizza" will slip out and surprise me). I attended college in FL and lived all over in the AF, but no one ever guesses where I come from in the course of a normal conversation. My parents, siblings and extended family all retained their accents, despite the fact they've lived in the South for almost 30 years now. I'm the outlier and I have no clue why!

Born, raised and still live in Indiana. I've always been about an hour from Indianapolis. I have been to an Indy 500 or a Brickyard Race and i have no desire to do so. I also don't do basketball and the while state gets in a frenzy about this time of year.

I can't think of anything right off the top of my head. Instead I think I might be a pretty stereotypical Vermonter, although I am not sure exactly what is included in the description of a stereotypical Vermonter. Love Maple syrup (think drinking it like in Super Troopers ) - check Love craft beer - check Love Love Love Cheese - check Ski - check Love Ben and Jerry's - check Drive a Subaru - check

Dunno...I don't really know what is common for my state? Other than the beach (go as often as I can for as long as I can) and Disney (been there, did it all. the. damn. time. and don't have much desire to go back until I am rolling in with grand kids which are hopefully a long long time from now.) Beyond that? I guess people think we sweat a lot. I rarely get hot and sweaty-more often than not even in the middle of summer I have a light sweater secreted somewhere in a bag. I get cold inside. Does that count?

As I was making my way down this post, I was thinking the myself.... hhmmmm what is Indiana known for (besides "nap"town and India"no place")? Guess I am stereotypical to some extent though. Auto racing has a special place in my heart ❤️. But I am pretty burnt out on basketball.... too many long suffering years of rooting for Purdue when times were lean and too long since the Reggie days of the Pacers. I guess I could get started on preconceived notions about farmers and their spouses.... an no DH does not even own a pair of bib overalls and I have no idea how to can food or slaughter a chicken. And yes, we do have the Internet where we live, along with all of the other modern conveniences of life.

I live in Seattle and use an umbrella (or ignore the advice not to use an umbrella). Ha! I'm also a Seattleite and get irritated when I see memes or jokes about kids in Seattle being born with an umbrella in their hands. We don't use those here!! If you've got an umbrella, you are either a tourist or a transplant from somewhere else.

I think that Victorians, and in particular Melbournians, are known for obsessing about football, good coffee, eating out and the weather. Yes, I do all of those things! I can't think of anything "typical" to my state that I don't do.
