I really couldn't care less what happens to my albums after I'm gone. Not really a habit, but somewhat cringe-worthy.

I have to tell DH abut this! He always accuses me of "staging life" when I don't get a picture I want. But I've never gone this far. What can I say..I had good Christmas PP to use for pics and I was determined to make that happen lol

When I was scrapping our trip to England, I had a 2-page layout of Windsor Castle. So I have these great vertical letters on the left side of one page and the right side of the other page that spell out Windsor Castle. Only problem is I later realized I left out the *D* in Windsor. But the page is so symetrical there is no way to add the D and I figure most people are looking at the fabulous photos and not the edges. So I'm leaving it as is. After all, the albums are ultimately for me.

I mostly use one photo per page. I freehand cut most of my papers and stuff. I adore decorative-edge scissors and use them on almost every page -- usually to cut around my photos!!! You DID make me cringe!!!!!!

I've done very little scrapping so no bad habits here YET.
I do have to say that I get worried when people don't wash their hands before they scrap (I feel the same about needlework). I worry that there might be something on their hands that will cause damage down the road.

LOL, what a great thread! I guess you could call me the Queen of Unfinished Projects. I love going to crops but due to many contributing factors almost never get a single layout completely finished! I always have titles on my pages, always have journaling too, but there is ALWAYS something missing so the layout doesn't get done. Sometimes it's because I don't get out enough with my friends so when I'm at a crop with them I don't get anything done. Sometimes it's because I didn't plan well enough and left something I needed at home. It's always something! And to compound the problem, I design layouts for my business that I don't put photos on because I don't want my personal pics posted online. So that means I have roughly 350-400 two page layouts that are made but have no photos or journaling on them, and over ten years worth of pictures back logged to scrap. How dumb is that?

I use double sided tape and my scissors always have glue residue on them, still yet to embrace the tape runner. I save the bits of paper and cardstock that are being covered by other layers, I am a paper hoarder.

I use repositionable glue. Have been for years. (Stuff does not fall off my pages and I can change them anytime.)

I file my pages into my books chronologically, but I have gaps between finished pages that are just the plastic page cover with a handful of photos chucked into it. A page full of good intentions, ha! I have a lot of those me too...

I adore decorative-edge scissors and use them on almost every page -- usually to cut around my photos!!! I have long admired your work and never noticed this. Since this is the second time you mentioned it, I decided to go to your blog and look again...what do you know! You do! I pictured it pictures cut small CM style but was pleasantly surprised to realize how you do it! It's just around the white edge of the picture. It looks so nice. Do you have the wite edge printed or do you mat it? Aw, thanks, tduby! Right now I'm printing most of my photos as 3.75 inch squares onto 4x6 size prints, so there is lots of white space to trim around. Sometimes I do have to mat my photos on plain white cardstock, but that's mostly only when I'm using smaller prints, like 2x3.

I don't know what I do that is cringeworthy about my scrapping, but I know I cringe at my piles of supplies that are stacked up in 3 rooms in bags, boxes, bins and loose. I have about 1/3 of my total stuff organized and the rest is total chaos. I do however have many many completed albums so lots of stuff does get used, just not enough to make a dent. Me too.

I make myself cringe with the way I actually scrapbook, stuff everywhere, using a tiny area. I use those adhesive squares that you need to pull the backs off of, not a runner. I need to do trial runs of things, I use scraps and stuff, but I waste a lot of time and paper. I'm sure there are many more I have a great space but have let it become a tiny area. This is something that I am changing come September.

I rarely journal or date the layouts. i don't scrap chronologically and my albums aren't chronological either.

Great thread! It also takes me waaay too long to do a page. Mainly because I am so afraid there is a 'better' sketch or 'better' technique or 'better' embellishment that I have to consider all my options before I will commit to something. Sometimes it takes the fun out of scrapbooking for me and it starts to feel more like a chore. I really need to lighten up. By chance, are you a Libra??? I am! I totally get the 'better' feeling.

1. I put as many photos as I can on my page 2. I'm not consistent in putting on a title 3. I'm not consistent at journaling 4. I would rather use Scrap embellishments for other art projects...so very few make it on my pages 5. Most of my pages are in file folders and have yet to make it into my books(but hey, my books look pretty cute sitting on my shelf anyway..lol) 6. I'm ALWAYS behind(and I'm not upset about it)

I love making pages, but I don't hardly put them in books! I have stacks of pages...I just feel like when the page is done, I'm done with it. Kinda dumb on my part for sure.

If I don't incorporate the date into the layout, then I write it on the back, because I rarely use the back side of the paper since I don't necessarily scrap in chronological order, but I put them into the finished scrapbook that way. That's a great idea and I just started doing that-I think someone talked about that here or on another message board I'm on. Since I switched from CM strap-hinged albums to top-loading, I hardly ever scrap chronologically- I do keep layouts from the same years together. I don't use the "rule of thirds" or the "visual triangle!" GASP! I just keep playing with it until I like how it looks and if it falls into "a great design principle," it is truly by accident . I do journal on just about every page especially since I've scrapped for nearly 20 years now-I notice that we (my family) go back and read those pages more than just the ones with lots of embellishments and pictures .

I don't journal on my pages if I can get away with it... I feel so self conscious about my thoughts... If I try and write something, it ends up sounding robotic or cheesy... I end up journalling on the back and it sounds like me, flows, is interesting, etc... It's journalling I'm proud of, if that makes sense... But no one better discover it's there or read it until I'm gone!

This is an awesome post. My cringe worthy habits: 1) I rarely journal beyond the facts that are obvious from the actual picture; 2) I scrap a huge 12x12 layout and often have only a 4x6 photo - at that rate I would need hundreds of pages to scrap all the photos I would love to scrap in a year; and 3) I make such a huge mess and spend days (ahem...insert weeks) to finish one layout - seriously the slowest/messiest scrapper ever. Whew- confession time over.

My adhesive of choice is a glue stick. I prefer smooth cardstock from Michael's and Joann's to Bazzil. I can't find my Zig pens and have been journaling with a regular old ball point pen (it came free with a scrapbook order, so it must be OK to use on a scrapbook page ) Shhh don't tell anyone.

Another Libra weighing in here...so THAT's why it takes me so long to commit! I move stuff around on the page f.or.e.v.e.r before I finally get things where I want them (aka: where I think I can live with it but it's not perfect and I'm leaving it anyway and ready to move on), then if it's layered or complicated in any way, I take a picture with my phone so I can make sure I get it just right when I have to un-layer it to start adhering everything at once. Wonder why I'm so behind in my scrapping??? Also: * I wash my hands before I scrap. * I almost always mat my photos and round the corners. Also ink the edges of a lot of my embellishments. I can't seem to just stick something down. * Love to use brads (and eyelets too, to a much lesser extent)...but I do have to be careful not to get carried away scrapping late at night so that I don't wake the entire house with pounding out the holes... At least I don't take them to crops! * I use different adhesives for different parts of the LO. Photos get the adhesive squares, but I use a Herma runner for the squares to avoid the very issue that other scrappers mentioned with the little squares' paper backing. Small/delicate embellishments get run through my Xyron X, and other stuff gets whatever runner is handy (tape runner, Herma glue dots, Tombow, ZIG pen). I'm sure the multiple adhesives thing would drive a lot of scrappers into a big cringe.

I don't worry about stuff being archival I will put ANYTHING on a page-If I can glue it down, it's fair game I rarely journal I have to say that I do the same things- especially if I can glue something down, I will do it! I love my hot glue gun
