I think it's really fast. I wish they had taken some time to just be a couple before they started their family, but that is me looking through the eyes of a person who already had a child when she got married and has never just been a couple with my husband. (and frankly, it's none of my business!) I am sure they are super excited and I am really happy for them! They seem to be a really sweet couple.

Minus the child...we are just coming up on our first year anniversary and hoping God will bless us with kids this coming year. I'm happy for them.

Can anyone really be surprised by this?
Blessings to them and the child. Few babies will ever be as wanted as a Duggar baby!

This girl has been in a "mom" role her entire adult life. To each their own but honestly, I find it really sad.

Considering they just got married 8 weeks ago I think it's a little soon, but that's me. They need to do what works for them I guess. I would want time to get to know my husband as just my husband first and spend some time as a couple.

Really? Michelle has miracle pregnancy tests?
Honestly, I would like to know if any of those kids will decide to NOT have a litter and if they do, what will the family think? I honestly don't think that having a football team of kids qualifies you to have celebrity status. Enough of them already.
Hey maybe the Kardashians and Duggars should get together and do a reality show!

Duggars have all "J" names, their oldest son has kids with all "M" names. Any bets on what their kids names will begin with? I vote for "D"!

I think they are a sweet couple, but it would have been nice if they had had time to grow as a couple before having children. I remember this last season that Jill and Derrick talked of going on mission trips together and traveling before having children.
Either way, the child will be loved bunches!

Ya don't say. Jill was groomed for this her whole life. Her parents must be elated.

They were shocked? Sorry, I am just giggling at that. You were having sex without any protection or birth control. What did you think was going to happen?! Congratulations to the newlyweds, I hope Jill has a healthy pregnancy and they have a healthy baby. I'm not at all surprised by this news .

I'm happy for them.
I think for me, personally, I would want that separate time as newlyweds, but I wasn't raised the way they both were. And I wasn't ready for children when I first got married. Meaning I wasn't mature enough for the responsibility of it.
They seem to be quite ready. This is a blessing to them and they will undoubtedly be wonderful parents. It isn't like they don't have the rest of their lives to be together. And with all those siblings, they have plenty of babysitters if they still want to go off and do things alone. Heck, they can take a few siblings with them on their missions so they can still live the life they projected.

This girl has been in a "mom" role her entire adult life. To each their own but honestly, I find it really sad. This. And I will add that I find this family's obsession with reproducing to be really unsettling. I would normally think "Whatever works for you" but I'm not sure that does work for them. But, with all that said, I wish only the best for them.

I would actually be surprised if they all wanted to have lots of children. I know of a family that had 13 children, and the older children did have to take care of the younger children. After growing up in that lifestyle, all of the children limited the number of children they had to one or two.

I read this earlier and was trying to do the math in my head. I'm guessing the first shot worked and she got her mother's fertility gene!
Great for them!!! ♡

It's certainly not what I would have done. But it's their life. I do wonder if these kids are raised to believe that they have a choice in their life? I think the obsession with fertility is a bit...concerning. But she is an adult and has made her choice. I wish them the best. I'm sure that the baby will be loved. But I do disagree with whoever said that few babies are loved as much as a Duggar baby. Because I'm pretty sure we all love our children here.

I wasn't surprised at all. I thought she looked a little "fuller" in a recent photo (maybe it was on instagram?) I wonder if she is carrying multiples? I don't know why I think that...just do.

It would be really sad if one of the Duggar kids struggled with infertility. Can you imagine the pain of that if all your siblings were able to reproduce and you couldn't?
The radio station I listen to announced this pregnancy this morning. DJ said Jill and spouse wanted as many kids as God blessed them and they also wanted to adopt.
More power to them if they can afford it.

Blech. I had a live and let live attitude with this family and their strange belief system until Michelle recorded a robocall to insinuate that transgender people were pedophiles.

I am still waiting for the Duggar child that goes against all in which he/she was brought up.

It doesn't surprise me, but like many of you have said, I agree it seems very quick.
I don't follow the Duggars too closely. Does anyone know if Jill & Derrick are living alone or are they with her parents? Do they have jobs outside the tv show?

They apparently figured out how everything works pretty quickly. LOL Their first kiss was at the alter and 8 weeks later they announce they're pregnant.

Years ago a study was completed and I seem to remember that research suggested that couples who took at least 1 year prior to pregnancy had better marriage relationships than those that either started before the marriage or within the 1st year. That you needed that year to really make your way into the coupleship and that pregnancy hormones and issues tended to stress the relationship early on.
Not sure if it would still be accurate, but it is something I would advise my kids to do.
