I'm tired of a lot of things, but mostly my overbearing sister who feels she is right no matter what. If Dr. Google or WebMD says its true, it must apply to our mother, who is in good care at a nursing home following a complete hip reconstruction. I am proactive and we have had a few situations with the staff but they are correcting things and her care has improved. My sister believes we have a law suit. They have not abused or neglected her. Yes, they are short staffed and it can take up to 20 minutes for someone to come when she rings her call button. And oh joy of joy, her husband is coming tomorrow because she wants him part of her after-care meeting with have scheduled with the social worker on Friday. Which is Mom's meeting, not hers or his or mine. I swear I might just have to tell them both to shut the f*ck up with they try to 'interject' and interrupt Mom one more time!
Ok, I feel better, so how is your day?

up too early, and not exactly in the mood to deal with the day. Oh, well. 8 more Mondays, then not only will it be summer break, but I will be retired. I love teaching, but I HATE getting up so early!

I'm up early because I have an early meeting before school. I hate getting up in the mornings, and I really hate getting up even earlier than usual!
Good thing is that it's our "short" day - kids get out 45 minutes early so we can have meetings after school. I have a Curriculum Committee meeting then.
But it's a longer day than usual because I have a hair appointment after the meeting - an appointment that was supposed to be yesterday except that my hairdresser forgot to put it in HER appointment book! So it has been rescheduled for today.

Ugh you sister/BIL kind of sound like mine. I'd rather hurl myself into traffic than deal with the two of them My day is already off to a good start. It's been quite the week, luckily just annoying stuff, but isn't seeming to get any better.

2 more days until a 4 day weekend. I really wish I didn't have to do the family thing on Friday and Saturday but I do. I really just want to shut off my phone and enjoy the quiet and be alone. I'm trying to meal plan and I have no thoughts either. Friday is dinner at my mom's so just lunch is needed. Saturday I'm making lasagna for DH's mom at our house so that's dinner and left overs Sunday. Monday I'm at a friend's scrapbooking. I'm thinking just a whole Lotta sandwich meat and we fill in with that. I have nothing out for tonites dinner. DH has been slacking in helping with house work. And his sleep mask has been slipping at night so he honks and wakes me up at 4 30 (an hr before my alarm) I think after weekend I will recharge. I'm hoping so anyway. I just got a new book delivered and I'm planning on reading this weekend on the porch. Suppose to be warm out. So get some vitamin D and just do as little as possible. Thanks for letting me whine.

I bought some Heeltastic on a whim. Turns out, this stuff is magic. But the smell! Ugh! My eyes are watering and my bedroom and living room smell like a pine forest. Did I mention that this stuff is magic?
My other vent is that the animals woke up at 4:30 (due to wanting to get away from the feet forest, I can only assume). Which means I woke up at 4:30. Yawn.

I take prescription Prevacid for extreme reflux. Today it isn't working which only happens when I'm extremely worried, dr appointment in 12 days. My throat is gurgling like soda is in it. Uggg. I have to be extremely careful or it turns into full on chest pains.
I used to treat it over the counter until it got so bad I had to get medical help. I've been symptom free for over a year now. I feel like I just took a huge step backwards. The anniversary of my dad's death was the other day and I just to ball up and cry.

I've typed and erased multiple times. Maybe I'll expand later.
I'm sick and tired of somebody not involved in a situation deciding that it's being done wrong or more needs to be done. You don't get to make the decisions for my time when you're not doing anything yourself. Sorry/not sorry that I've had to put this boundary in place and sorry/not sorry that you find it frustrating but tough shit.
I'm sick of adults who can't act like fucking adults.

I needed this vent thread today - just got the call that my dog's ashes are ready to be picked up at the vet.
I really didn't care if they were saved, but DD felt it was important. I don't want to go there. They said there's no hurry, but I don't think procrastinating will make it easier.

This vent is totally first world selfish fluff, but I was looking forward to scrapbooking this weekend. Last month the ladies said we would be able to scrapbook Fri eve and Sat. Today they cancelled because, shockingly, the church needs to get ready for Easter. We do not really celebrate Easter and Sunday is also my wedding anniversary, so DH and I will go eat someplace, but I had really looked forward to my favorite pastime this weekend and then just relax and watch Hidden Figures on Demand with DH on Easter.

My whine is the construction up the street. Which follows closely on the construction that was *just* finished one street over from us. ugh. I live in a neighborhood that used to be affordable. Many smaller houses that weren't outrageously expensive, at least not by DC/NoVA standards. Well as those small houses are sold they get bought, torn down (sad), and a huge $1.5 million house gets built on the lot, squeezing in as much house as they can by code. Dh and I couldn't afford to buy here now, and when we do sell this house we'll get triple what we paid for it without ever having done much to improve it. Anyway...that's not my vent, mine is the construction. I'm the second house from the corner. The house on the corner across the street is having their exterior painted. There are usually two of the company's vans there. Then the house next to them is the one that was just torn down. They've dug out the pit and yesterday was concrete pouring day, then putting in the big posts. So... two painter vans in front of the corner house which meant that workers for the construction site had to park down on my block. Then the concrete truck rolled up. And the big flatbed thing that was hauling the posts. And that truck had to back up -- *beep beep beep BEEP!* -- a million times to get himself situated and parked right up from my front yard. -- AND...two houses up from the construction site a tree was being taken down, complete with large crane thing. omg. Oh, and did I miss the other detail of this story...? -- My dog HATES the backup *beep*. And she hates hearing voices talking outside. And she ESPECIALLY hates it when people park across from her front window. And she really really takes offense when those workers who parked their trucks near us come back to the truck to take a break or eat lunch! ALERT!! POSSIBLE INTRUDER ALERT!! NOISE ON THE STREET!! Add in the mailman, a UPS truck or two, and the Big Scary Baby in Stroller from down the street and my poor dog had a very bad day. And today isn't shaping up to be much better. And the weather in lovely so we have windows opened which conveniently lets in all the sound. So my vent is not so much about the actual construction as it is about having to listen to my dog bark and growl and huff all day long.

Mom is sound and has told sister several times nicely to include her in her conversations that she needs to know what she is talking to the nurses/aides about. Sister seems to think that Mom really doesn't know what is best and needs her guidance and I'm sure she thinks I've no idea either since I am younger.
The saga continues - I went to see Mom to take coffee to her like I have been doing every morning since she has been there before I head off to work. Due to the pain meds she has also been having (TMI) pooping issues and she finally had some success this morning. YEAH! Mom decided on her own that she would stop the opiods and only take Tylenol for the pain, she is one tough lady!
Sent a text to my sister that just said She had some success - Sister replied, can you take a picture of her butt, I'm concerned about the redness. WTF!!!! I didn't reply and I didn't' answer when she called and left me a voice message. NO I am not going to take a picture of Mom's butt crack. Yes, it is red, she has been laying in bed for 3 weeks only up for therapy and transfer to the bedside commode because she is no weight bearing on her leg, but it is being treated by the nurses. Because her hip is the problem they can't elevate her rear to prevent the redness. She is cleaned properly and cream is applied each time -
Give me strength to say the right thing at the right moment and to heck with sisters feelings at this point! I'm the peace maker but I think with this last interaction my peace making days might be over!

I have to laugh: when I pulled it up on Amazon, it was listed under both "Health, Household and Baby Care" and "Industrial and Scientific."

My vent is about my poor cat. He broke two bones in his foot after he fell off a ledge in my house at the end of February. I have been driving him to the vet clinic weekly since then to have his splint changed at $70 a pop. Yesterday was supposed to be the day they removed it. Unfortunately, the $320 xray showed the more severely broken bone has not fused yet, so he has to wear this splint for another month! The good news is that the vet thinks we can change his splint every 2 weeks, so at least it's not a weekly thing anymore. I feel so bad for the cat though. According to the vet, he's losing his hair on his leg and his muscles in that leg are atrophied. Plus, he really looks miserable. He's a jumper and climber (which is what got him in this situation in the first place), and he can't do anything of that. He's mostly been living under my son's bed since this happened

I'm sorry you have to deal with your sister and bro-in-law regarding your mom. Please, do tell them to fuck the hell up! Your mom needs someone in her corner.
For me, yesterday and the day before were unusually warm days, in the 80s, which for April, is rare here. Today it's back down to a more seasonal temp of 40ish. Yesterday, the facilities crew came to fix the water heater. Went to turn back on the water and something broke. No water. So we now have porta-potties in the back. I nearly froze my ass off earlier! Not to mention, it wasn't properly seated, so it kind of rocked. Very unnerving!
Plus, they come with these cool sink things now, so you can wash your hands. Of course the water is ice cold, and I was trying to get the soap off my hands with this tiny stream of water you have to pump with your foot to get it going. I had to wear my jacket to use the bathroom and my stupid right sleeve would not stay up so it wouldn't get wet!
I'm not eating or drinking anything today!

I didn't sleep well last night. I was getting ready for work this morning and the bathroom was hot so I was going to open the window. There was a wasp on the window sill and I didn't see it. Yep, stung me right on the end of my finger. Now, I'm sleepy, my finger is sore, I have a headache and I'm nauseous. Great start to my Wednesday lol.

Mine's a whiny baby vent, my esophagus doesn't work properly. I came to terms with that a long time ago and usually I'm fine but the last couple of days it's been annoying me. Yesterday it made me throw up with it's weird spasms and today it's making me feel like I'm going to throw up Good times!

Irritated by the fact I have to waste a vacation week covering for yet another school break. Have an appt to talk to school district admin about less time off of school but I am sure the union will oppose it. Thankfully they reduced the 1/2 days from 7 to 4 for the next year. My kid does not have a single month where there are 4 full weeks of attendance from September to June. It's ridiculous and a hardship for working parents.

mommaho Is your mother on a gel or air mattress? If not she should be. It can be adjusted to prevent hot spots. Yes, she is on an air mattress. Part of the problem might be they had her in depends for so long too, I got her into her regular panties last week but with the bathroom issues they put her back in depends until that subsides. Would a gel be better?
