First week of June dh and I are flying over to Hawaii and taking a 7 day cruise around the islands. I love to cruise - unpack once, someone else cooks and drives! This summer there will be some weekends traveling up to South Lake Tahoe to visit dd & dsil - provided the snow is gone and then in the fall maybe a road trip to check off some more states on my bucket list.

We have a big group of friends that we cruise with so we have several cruises booked. We all met on Cruise Critic and that's the only way any of us know each other. We come from all over and have a blast! Just got home from one- a 4-night cruise to Cozumel from Fort Lauderdale. We also have a 7-night out of Galveston in October to Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. Then a 9-night out of Miami in January 2018 to Labadee, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. Also a 7-night in September 2018 out of Galveston to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel.
DH and I are taking 10 days in July to drive the Pacific Coast Highway in Oregon. Really excited about this trip!
We will also spend time down on the Texas coast. We have a place down there and try to get down for long weekends most months. Months that we have trips planned, we don't go to the coast.

This year we are not going very far. We will go to Northern Illinois to visit my brother. We might then drive to Mackinac to camp and learn more family history.

So far my trips are lame. We are renting a house with friends in Hampton Beach, NH for a week. I really don't like this area but my friends do so I'm going along.
I am trying to plan a trip for my big 4-0 in September with my friends. We are struggling with a destination. So far on the list is the Hamptons (b/c it's close and cheap in September), Vegas, Costa Rica, wine country CA. Yup, we are all over the map. We are all mothers so the thought of having an excuse for a vacation has us all over the map.
I will be going to NYC for a girls weekend soon. I usually do this a few times a year with my cousin who lives there but it's been a while.

I think of this as the annual "Make Jackie Jealous" thread. I'll be heading to our cottage in Michigan in early to mid-June, and return early August. Good thing I love it there (Silver Lake, midway between Muskegon and Ludington).

I have no idea-it's a heated debate at my house. Still not sure the date dd is headed to college, trying to work around sports schedules, a husband who like to go to the same place every year and me, who likes to try some place new. Need to get on it.

Wow, you all have some amazing travel plans and a heck of a lot more vacation time then I have!
My trip is not exotic, but it is a dream trip of mine that I have been wanting to do for probably thirty years! I am going to Prince Edward Island to see all of the Anne of Green Gables and LM Montgomery sites I can do in seven glorious days! I will be in Halifax a full day on either end of the trip, so the full seven days will be spent soaking up PEI. I have been planning since December and it has been so much fun. I love trip planning. I don't have days regimented, but I do have a full list of things I want to see and places I want to eat divided by location to maximize time. We will be seeing both Anne plays, having tea at the hotel used in the tv series, seeing the school where LM taught, etc. I have been rereading all of LMs books and am rereading her journals in preparation.
I cannot wait!

Dh and I are having a week in Greece in May and we have a big family holiday booked in southern Portugal in September with both DDs and their other halves, grandson, my MIL and Dh's sister. We have had many, many wonderful holidays in Portugal and MIL 'suggested' that we go again this year 'one last time'. I don't think she's being morbid, just that she's getting less mobile. I know this holiday will be very special for her. Portugal is on my short list. How long will you be gone? And what are you favorite places to visit, things to do while there? We've booked 10 days this time. Portugal holidays are our 'home from home' so to speak because we've been going for over 30 years, so we're not adventurous and we don't go exploring or sight seeing, it's pure relaxation. We get our culture and new experiences fix on other trips Because we're very familiar with the area (The eastern Algarve region on the south coast) we tend to frequent the same beaches, have our favourite restaurants, markets and so on The beaches are glorious and the weather is very reliable and we just love it.

Diving with the boys on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in June and we're thinking Panama (possibly Bocas del Toro) with my parents and brother's family over Christmas.

A long weekend in Mammoth for Memorial Day weekend and a fall trip to Mexico. Mammoth, California? I love it there! You will still have snow in the mountains.

Nothing fancy or huge. We are going to the beach for a week in July. I'm hoping to get a few weekends in camping over the summer as well.

Incredible dream vacation planned! Going to travel into the depths of my closet, bask on the shores of cotton clutter then purge 98% of my clothes. From there will travel to Macy's and Nordstrom's to hunt the elusive well fitting slacks, blazers and shirts then on to develop a capsule wardrobe for work. Can't wait, only seven more days until the adventure begins!

We just got back from Puerto Rico. It was our first time there and I would recommend it. The rest of our travel for the year will be to visit family, so I don't count those trips as vacation!

we're doing a 2-ish week road trip to Vermont this summer for my sister's wedding - we'll drive up via Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia/West Virginia, Pennsylvania to New York and take an auto ferry across to VT - stay in VT for a few days for the rehearsel and wedding and to cross into Canada and then to NH and Maine briefly and then drive down to RI to visit my mum and then into MA to see Salem, Topsfield, Ipswich and that area where DH's ancester settled in the 1600s before heading back to Florida down the coast. That'll be late July/early Aug.
That's it for the family but DD16 is headed to Disney the end of this month for Academic Team States, probably doing Girls State in early June in Tallahassee, and then heads to Europe with her history class the end of June/early July (via Canada - she'll go to Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary).
DD10 has a week at Girl Scout horse camp in central Florida in early June and I'm taking her troop to a (cabin) campground with water slides/lazy river etc... for a weekend in July.
So a busy summer overall.

We really haven't been able to "choose" our vacations this year. It's all been/being used up with things that have to be taken care of. We each have 5 weeks (I also get extra flex days, but DH doesn't). We've already spent several vacation days going down to the U.S. to where DH's brother lived, to deal with his estate matters. We will probably have to make 2 more trips down there this spring/summer. We took a week off to move. We have to drive down to SoCal in September to scatter BIL's ashes and to bury DH's grandmother's ashes (long story - she died in 1978, but BIL never buried her ashes. They were found when cleaning out BIL's house). Because we have to drive down, that'll take 2 weeks, and all 5 weeks of our vacation will be gone. I feel like I won't be getting any restful vacation at all this year. That was last year for us - we traveled to Chicago for DS's boot camp graduation, MIL was in ICU for 6wks and then in and out of hospice (lots of vacation days to cover stuff for her), then she died and then I had surgery...almost all of DH's vacation was used for FMLA last year

We go to a dude ranch almost every summer out in Wyoming, and we'll be riding horses out there again this year. We stay home a lot for vacations now because we live at the beach and spend our days at the pool and the ocean.

Heading to Vegas in May for a 21st birthday. Not mine. . In June we are going to Punta Cana for a week. Can't wait for that trip. We're also talking about going Vegas again with just my husband and myself and perhaps a short trip to Hawaii. Come on May!

We did summer vacation over spring break and went to San Diego. I started a new job so I won't have vacation until fall and DS will be working all summer...spring break worked best for us.
We do have some weekend plans in the books....coast for wine tasting, Oakland and LA for baseball games. Local day trip stuff.

Well, this is MY first day of vacation but you probably won't like my plans! I'm not going anywhere except around here. But a lot of people do spend a lot of money to come here, I live in a tourist town with quarter horse race track in the summer and skiing in the winter. Not to mention all the other tourist attractions in the area.

We have a trip to Toronto and Stratford in July with dh, younger dd, and I while older dd is on a school trip to Spain and Italy. (Totally jealous of her, but happy at the same time that she is getting an opportunity to travel abroad)
Then later in the summer we are going to San Francisco for a few days.
We also have are going to parent/student orientation at dd's college. Not sure if that counts as vacation or not though....,.

This year we are not going very far. We will go to Northern Illinois to visit my brother. We might then drive to Mackinac to camp and learn more family history. The state campground in St. Ignace is great, especially the lower loop. We have camped there a few times. There are some awesome views of the bridge from walking trails, one up high on a bluff and another from the beach. If you tent camp, we have a marked up map with spots to avoid and preferred spots (shady, flat, grassy, slightly more private).

We have a big trip planned three weeks in Europe, we will go to London (visit family and friends) to Paris, visit friends in the Dordogne and then sneak over to Spain for a quick weekend visit to San Sebastian.
Oh and a trip home to Kansas for my Dad's 90th. (not sure that is a "vacation")
I'm thinking of taking DD to DC for her birthday. The new musical version of Mean Girls is in previews there in the fall.
We usually travel at Christmas but I'm hoping my daughter will get to spend Christmas with her Dad... she really wants too.. if she does I will be looking for something to do on my own.

This is a beautiful museum that documents where the majority of people after the Second World War came to Canada. Both of my parents came via Pier 21. 2017 is Canada's 150th birthday. Check on the web if there are any special attractions celebrating our birthday. Enjoy the BEST blue mussels, fresh from the ocean. The lobster is also the best & freshest, with the best potatoes ever. Last fall I had one day to explore PEI. I was on a cruise. I rented a car and drove from Charlottetown to Summerset & Cavendish (home of the BEST potatoes) back to Charlolttetown in one day. Quite different from the urban SW Ontario where I live. The TransCanada Hwy was only 90km/hr, & only one lane each way. Please go to the PEI travel website & order a map so that you can plan your trip. Eat a lot of seafood, as it is the best & freshest. Welcome to Canada. Make sure to pick up Coffee Crisp chocolate & Cadbury chocolate.

Peir 21 will be at the top of our list! Cannot wait to eat our way around PEI, trust me, I am planning our eating as much as our must see sites! At the risk of sounding like a fatty mcfatterson, you don't need to tell me to pick up a Coffee Crisp or Cadbury, I am making sure there is extra room in the old suitcase for Canadian candy. That is in fact that first thing I am doing in Halifax is finding a grocery store and shopping! You all get some amazing food we don't get. For the 150th all parks are free, so we already have our parking passes. I don't think there is much else special outside of Charlottetown, but they do have some special things going on. I just can't wait to see the red cliffs, shoreline and Green Gables. I have been dreaming on PEI since I was 10 years old, this trip is going to be an "epoch" in my life, I assure you.
