This year we are not going very far. We will go to Northern Illinois to visit my brother. We might then drive to Mackinac to camp and learn more family history. The state campground in St. Ignace is great, especially the lower loop. We have camped there a few times. There are some awesome views of the bridge from walking trails, one up high on a bluff and another from the beach. If you tent camp, we have a marked up map with spots to avoid and preferred spots (shady, flat, grassy, slightly more private). That would be fabulous! We do tent camp and it's hard to reserve spots when you unfamiliar with camp grounds.

We do tent camp and it's hard to reserve spots when you unfamiliar with camp grounds. Good sites: 78A-85A (lower left loop); 18A (bridge view), 1A, 20, 22, 23, 25, 40 (lower right loop) We marked this map a long time ago so these sites are bad or good (we think good because we stayed in one at a later date: 52-66 even (lower left); 33-41 odd (lower right); 212, 214, 217, 213, 215, 216, 218, 220, 222, 223, 224, 253, 252, 251, 249, 219, 221, 250, 248, 247, 246, 247, 246, 247, 245, 244, 243, 242, 236, and 240. Bad sites: 85A, 18, 17, 16, 2, 6A, 8A, 9A, 31, 30, 32, and 46. I have a note that it doesn't get busy until late June. I know now what you mean about the sites, although the pictures on the state site help some now.

I made reservations for me and the kids to stay a couple of nights at a cabin near Mt. Rainier, and a couple of nights at a lodge near the Columbia River this summer. I'm trying to find a yurt available on the beach too. DH should get a mid-tour trip home from the Middle East in October, and I want to take a fun trip to Disneyland then. I love the park in October .

We have a 4 YO and an 8 YO and we have NEVER taken a vacation as a family. We've done some short hotel stays in local places and visited family, but never taken a vacation together. I am so excited to say that this summer we have rented a house in Charlevoix, Michigan for a week right on Lake Michigan. Not nearly as exciting or exotic as many of your plans, but a big step for us! I just hope we can keep the reservation- we're remodeling our kitchen and I don't know if we'll have enough money left over to afford it. We paid for half, and the second half is due next month. We'll see.... I will be beyond disappointed if we have to cancel.

We've been to Jamaica once before and stayed at Rose Hall in Montego Bay. I've heard Negril was a great place for the night life. I love people watching! My sister earned the trip thru the company she works for so it's not something we actually planned. I'm glad she's taking me tho! Is there anything you'd recommend in Ocho Rios that is a must do? Thanks

We walked a few miles on it and then took a cab to Margarittaville (in Negril). We took a tour one time that was a crocodile tour but it is far from Ocho Rios.

Sorry, not much help because I'm planning lots of 'staycation' time this year - I have lots of expenses with the house instead

I'm so excited. I just booked a Disney World trip for the last week of August. Our little girl will be 5 in November and she will be so excited. Since this is her last year before she goes to big kid school, we went ahead and bit the bullet.
We also have a trip to the beach July 4th week with my sister's family.
