This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy May Day to each of you. I will be back later to chat.
It seems like April slid by so quickly. I went to change my calendar in my Scraproom and realized it was still on March. I am hoping to actually do a layout in May!

nylene and I hope it makes good changes for all of us. It seems we all have been having rough times lately. You April did fly by cuz you slept thru it! I will be back later also as it is dinner time and I still have kids! I need to ask a question of my Canadian friends. TYhe US is having a major problem with Heroin and opiates. Is Canada having the same thing? And does anyone know about other European countries? My Friend and I discuss this a lot and she has a special interest as her son is one of the victims of it. HBO is going to have a documentary tonight but neither of us have that but they run a lot of them on You Tube the next day. So I will be checking there tomorrow. Thanks for your help. Gotta run, BBL

Good Monday evening, Ladies! And Happy May Day! I am glad you are feeling better, nylene. And I hope you can actually experience May! No personal or family experience with these drugs, scrapincin, but have seen lots in the news about their use here. Fentinel is another one mentioned often on the news. Many of my young adult students had issues with these drugs and that was often the reason they gave for dropping out of school originally. Nothing crafty for me today, other than taking a few batches of pages about dgs to the printer. He is going to have a LOT of pages! They won't be very thick b/c they will be printed on thin photo paper. But I will need quite a bunch of page protectors. Because there will be nothing thick or heavy on the copied pages, I think I will be able to get less expensive ones, but I will need a lot! Got the details of the ceremony the first weekend in June. He also sent me information about the grad colours and a few proofs of pregrad photo shoot, so I am ready to create a few pages for his book to go with the copied pages. Tomorrow I have a few finishing touches to make on the retirement album I need for Thursday. Then nothing crafty until Friday, when I start my 4 day Home Alone adventure in my scrap room for NSD.

Happy May 2 ladies. nylene - yes I hope you can enjoy May, and your days will be filled with good health and happiness. Look forward to seeing projects from you this month. scrapincin - We too have family members that are suffering from heroin addiction. Unfortunately rehab and interventions have not been successful. I wish I had read about the HBO special before this morning, maybe it will replay again, would love to see it and see if we can gain any insights into this addition. grammadee - I hope you have a wonderful four day Home Alone NSD adventure. I wish I was going to be scrapping, but we are going camping, and well I like that activity as much as I like to scrap so I guess it is a win-win I spent some time this past weekend organizing my Courthouse Albums. Kansas is complete except of needed a few page protectors which have been ordered and is on the way. Arkansas, Ohio, and Washington are all missing a few pages so I need to go back and reprint those photos and complete those pages. But the are all organized with empty page protectors just waiting for the new pages to be slipped in and they will be done. Organized my National Register of Historic Places by State and then County. I created an index with QR codes so you can use your smart phone barcode app to view the photos of the ones I have been able to upload to Wikipedia. It has been fun getting the first photo so I can upload them. I do the same with the Historical Markers, on the Historical Marker website Database. Well I need to go get ready for work. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I will check in with you all in the morning.

I'm trying this again. I started a post yesterday, but ended up exiting out of google chrome altogether. This actually happens to me more times than I care to admit. Probably because I usually have several tabs going and 2pr is usually always up. It's a go to check it when I get a moment type thing. nylene, thanks for the thread. Hope you are healthy for May! scrapincin, Congrats to Bobby and I'm very glad Maggie is ok. Hope you are doing better as well. I don't hear a lot about opiates, other than tv, but meth is one that does get talk about. Our area is a vacation home hot spot. When we first bought this property the vacation neighbors were cleaning off a house that had burned down. Later the local chatter was the grandson was brewing/making meth which caused the fire. grammadee, enjoy your 4 day craft bonanza! I can't wait to see all of your wonderful pages. maribeth, I think you are seriously cool with uploading photos to information websites! Yesterday was a busy cleaning day, but Don got us all out of the house when he happened upon a large patch of morels. We then started to hunt the property. We found 30 in all which was last nights desert. Today I also hope to finish a page that has been on my desk since Saturday. I was musing yesterday that I feel like I've reverted back to when the kids were little. I would leave a page out and work in 5 - 10 minute spurts when they became available. Sometimes a page would take a week, sometimes 3. Waving hello to everyone.

grammadee , your Home Alone NSD adventure sounds like fun. I hope you accomplish a lot. Congrats to your DGS. He will love the album you are making him. LisaDV , I had to look up morels. I have never seen mushrooms like that. Do you eat them raw, or what do you do with them. I love grilled and raw mushrooms. I hope you get a chance to finish your page. I know how it feels to have one sitting for a while (like a month!) maribeth , I am so impressed with your organization and the use of the QR codes on your pages. What a wonderful project you are doing. Have fun RVing. For you, it will probably feel better than scrapping after all the work you did on CB. Where are you venturing this time? scrapincin , there is a huge drug problem here. I was aware of it while I was working because we always had drug seekers coming to the office. It was easy to identify them after years of experience. They were seeking mostly opiates. Heroin has begun to creep in because it is cheaper and easier to find than Oxycontin which many become addicted to. There are lots of drug rehab programs, but they only work if people REALLY are willing to change everything about their lives and they need to continue with 12-Step meetings even after they have been clean for a long time. Most want to still be using but have control of it. That is not possible. It always escalates. Sometimes they have to really hit rock bottom, end up in jail, etc. before they are ready to make changes. My heart aches for your friend's son. I haven't told you all that Steve and I have been called as Missionaries in the Addiction Recovery Program which our church runs. We started in February. There are 60 meetings each week in various areas of the north part of our County. These are 12 step recovery meetings.(which shows that our area has a lot of addiction) Steve and I only do 2 meetings each week right now. It has really opened my eyes to all addictions. We work with every kind of addiction you can imagine. These are free meetings and we average about 12-30 people at each. I am really humbled by some of their stories and the length of time they have lived with their lives out of control. Most have lost everything they ever cared about, family, marriage, home, self-respect, etc. We are assisted by a Facilitator who has gone through the program and has remained clean for at least a year. I come from a background of alcohol addiction and it is an eye opening experience to see the recovery that can happen. It is a very emotional experience to hear each person share his/her experiences. Our Mission is for one year, but they sometimes ask missionaries to extend that time.

Hey Pokeys. Thanks for your kind thoughts last month. My mom says she is doing okay, but that it is a challenge planning and then eating all her meals alone. I scrapped up a storm with grammadee at our crop in April, but I never got around to sharing pictures. I will add a few to this thread as the month goes on. Thanks to those of you who found them on Flickr or Instagram and commented. I am doing LOAD again this month, but I started a separate thread for it and will probably share my layouts there. I hope to take part in iNSD on Saturday. I have been reading your posts, but not always commenting. You are such a kind and welcoming group. Chinese New Year

Happy Tuesday! I have been busy making cards and more cards. I especially enjoyed going to Hobby Lobby and M's last Saturday. It is so crazy how both stores are in shopping centers right next to each other! So I know other crafter like me love that. Then, on the same street is Joann's. How cool is that.
My dh took several of the cards to work. The staff there like buying my cards and they are so kind. The rest of the cards I will be sending out to fam and friends. I ordered that Kaisercraft pp "High Tea" and it is so pretty. I wish I would of ordered the whole set. LOL! www.kaisercraft.com.au/newsite/collections.php?col=222
nylene- Thanks for the new thread. I really hope this week is a better week for you. You have really gone through it. sending you some of our sunshine and some hugs. Hang in there!
justjac- Happy to see you and know that you are coming along. I know you all will get through it. It just takes time.
maribeth- You have quite a collection of couthouse now. Do you have any favorites?
grammadee- Oh, I see all the iNSP activities you all have going on. Hopefully I can at least chat. I do have my photos to scrap. Just need to make some time to work on it.
LisaDV- I am like Nylene, I wasn't familiar with morels. What is your fav way to cook them? Also, you did have a great "date" day with your dh. Hopefully you both can have more times like that.
scrapincin- Your Browns apparently did great in the draft and I hope this year is a better year for your team and mine. But now we got the Rams and the Chargers. hummmmm?

nylene , I think it takes a very special person to do that type of outreach. Bless you. justjac , I just popped into the gallery before coming here so I'm all caught up on your lovely layouts. I think you shared some of your crop layouts on instagram though. I always enjoy seeing your pages pop up. kellyr21 , that must be nice to have everything so close for shopping's sake. That high tea line is gorgeous. You will be making stunning cards with it. I'm sure that everyone at Ron's work loves the chance to buy your beautiful cards. I know I would, I really dislike card making most of the time. Don thinks since I have a room full of supplies, he should never have to pay $$ for one again. Other than the one's he buys me. lol. Our favorite way to fix morels is lightly floured and pan fried. We've also had them sauted with steak, but those we bought after buying and planning to have steak. If we could find mass quantities, I'd try different things. They are quite expensive to buy. My finished layout, which planned starting Monday to go with the May Stash challenge. Selfie Memories by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr Gotta go, my ds14 is wanting me to read to him. He really enjoyed this book and so I started reading it after him. Last night he crawled in bed with me and asked me to read out loud to him. No matter that I'm 1/2 way through. He just asked again. Gotta love him. Good night to all.

Where are you venturing this time? We are just doing close by trips this year. Heading over the El Malpais and El Morro National Monuments this weekend. Do you have any favorites? Oh yes, there are always some pages that just seem to come out perfect, and then others are just okay. But I love the project so much. Good morning ladies.... Got most of the RV loaded last night, still have to vacuum, but I like to do that last after all the trips in an out to load. Will do that tonight after my nail appointment, hubby will head to the campground 1st thing in the morning to avoid driving through Albuquerque traffic, and I will meet up with him sometime tomorrow (whenever the bosses decide they can do without me, my work for the week is all done by the way - LOL). Trying to think of a small project I can take with me. I usually just enjoy hiking, eating and being out in nature, but sometimes I like to work on a small project as well. justjac and LisaDV - both of you are staring May off right with some terrific pages. Have a wonderful day ladies.

Good Wednesday morning! Hope you are all doing well. Loving your pages, LisaDV and justjac. Hoping to see some of your cards, kellyr21. You know you can use the iNSD challenges for cards as well as for pages. You might even want to smack down a challenge--say to use flowers? (hint, hint), that others can take on for cards or pages or other projects. scrapincin, I hope you get to play in your scraproom again soon. maribeth, your camping adventure sounds delightful. I hope you get time to get out into the fresh air. If you manage to do anything crafty in some down time, that's a bonus, but I know I never managed to do that when camping! I hope your health continues to improve, nylene. You have said you are amazed by how much I manage to get done, but I do very little outside the house any more, and I am amazed at all your volunteer activities and how your caring spirit drives everything you do. I know your actions and words will have a positive impact on the lives of the people in the groups you are working with. I am getting the last supplies I will need for tomorrow's retirement party put together. The album has been filled with PL cards and pp, so people can slip in their photos and write their comments tomorrow. I have also put some other scrappy supplies into the bin, including glue and pens and additional papers and supplies people may want to use. Still need to make sure my Canon Selphy works, and then get that packed up as well, along with my camera. Meanwhile I am cooking up some frozen tomatoes so I can put together a big pan of lasagna to take tomorrow as well. There will also be a smaller pan dh & I can have for supper tonight. Anyway. Gotta go. Those tomatoes need tending!

grammadee, how do you freeze your tomatoes? That sounds like a great idea to have them frozen and on hand for tomato dishes. The retirement album is such a great idea. I'm sure it will be wonderful with everyone's input. LisaDV, enjoy those reading moments. It seems like the children grow up so fast and you really miss those tender times. Thanks for the info about the morels. My mom used to hunt mushrooms around our home and eat them as she picked them. I was always terrified that she would eat a poisonous toadstool and die! I love the photos on your layout. So sweet. kellyr21, that High Tea line is gorgeous. I can just imagine the beautiful cards you will make. How nice that Ron's work associates love your cards like we do. I hope you have time to make a lot of them. maribeth, I hope you have a great time this weekend. Take it easy. You can always scrap again when you get home. Did you finish all your card kits? Maybe that would be a quick project to do. Have fun! justjac, I love your double page layout. I always love Asian designs and embellishments. I hope things are getting back to normal for you. Hugs to you and your mother. msliz, I wrote a little note to you when I posted last, but must have deleted it when I rewrote a section of the post. Sometimes I think I'm losing my mind. So I'll try again. Do you have any other children besides your DDs 18&14? I think cheesecake for a birthday sounds delicious. Did you get into your scraproom to play yet? scrapincin, when do your grands get out for the summer? This is the first year for ages that we finish before Memorial Day. My last day will be the 19th, but the kids go until the 26th. It's really creeping up. I have one DGS graduating this year and we will have a DGS and a DGD getting married this summer. It makes me sad to see them growing up so fast! I don't think I will be participating much on NSD. I'm going to try to get my Sat. work done on Friday so I squeeze in some scrappy time. Steve would like to see a movie that day too. We'll see what I get done. LOL Happy Weekend, Everyone!

grammadee , how do you freeze your tomatoes? That sounds like a great idea to have them frozen and on hand for tomato dishes. Usually I cook the tomatoes in tomato juice with a little sugar and salt using a recipe for home canned tomatoes my mil used, and freeze them in containers. But while I was gone in the fall, dh washed and trimmed some tomatoes and froze them whole in ziplock bags. This morning I poured boiling water over them, a few at a time, and slipped off their skins, then put them in a pot with hot tomato juice and cooked them like I would have cooked fresh ones.

Good Evening Pokeys! It has been chilly and raining here today and will be all day tomorrow! YUK! I still have not made into my scrap room but I AM going in there tonight. Even if I only get my desk cleaned off. I got the Blue Screen of death again today but got the code as to what happened to cause it. This computer has been a problem ever since I got it. And the support from HP and Microsoft have left a lot to be desired. HP can't even get that it ks still covered under the warranty. nylene the grands get out of school either the 24th or 25th of May. LisaDV Love your layout! Will go to the gallery after I leave here. Are you getting the rain too? maribeth - Have a great time camping and relax a little! kellyr21 The Browns picked some good players in the first few rounds of the draft. We shall see how that works out.Glad to see you are making cards again. You do such a great job with them grammadee Hope all is well with you and that you enjoy NSD. I am planning on doing something Saturday. Well I am going to get off and head for my scrappy place. BBL

Hey ladies! I hope you all had a nice week so far. Made enough cards for Mother's Day for now and have another card project to start maybe next week. I hope to start some scrappin too. For iNSD we have lot of challenges so maybe I will try one of those. grammadee, you ladies have put quite a list of fun challenges for us. Great job! Here are some of the cards I made and I will be sharing more soon. The pp was from MME. There were glitter parts on the pp and I wish the camera captured that so you can see how pretty the paper is. Cards 4 Mother's Day by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr nylene- Hope you are feeling better and get to enjoy some of the scrappin fun around here this weekend. Yes, that "High Tea" collection is so pretty. They have such feminine and elegant pp. LisaDV- What a sweet lo of you and your dd. I just love the arrangement of it all. I know you enjoy reading to your ds. What precious time you are sharing together. How are the chickens? maribeth- Have a great time camping. That does sound so fun and relaxing. Are you taking all your pets too? Waving hi to you all and see ya this weekend.

@elaynef, you will have lots of photos to scrap. Scrapping grandchildren are always my favorite. I hope to see some you finish. You said you were on a 3 week road trip. Was this a vacation? I hope so! kellyr21, your cards are lovely. I agree with grammadee, I love the ones with the pink tule bows. You do beautiful work! scrapincin, I am sorry you have had so much trouble with your computer. I wish I could ship Doug out there for a day. He loves a challenge! Did you get into your scraproom today? grammadee, thanks for the info on freezing tomatoes. I nearly always have way more tomatoes left over when we have had all we can eat and share with the whole neigborhood. I make a good Taco Soup that calls for canned tomatoes and I think I will freeze some this year and try using them. I actually spent the afternoon in my scraproom. I wanted to finish my layout, but decided I needed Graduation cards sooner. I made one for my niece's son and one for our sweet Grandson. We are so proud of him. He is autistic and has really worked to graduate. He is very smart, but not very social. He's already enrolled for college in the Fall. We pray that there will be a special niche for him in society as he gets older. Then I used the same pattern and made 8 more grad cards for Card Club. It felt good to cut and glue and feel the pretty papers! It has been too long. maribeth, I hope you are having a wonderful time with your husband and nature. Happy InterNational Scrapbook Day tomorrow!

nylene, Morels are the easiest mushrooms to tell if they are poisonous or the real deal. We are too scared to try foraging for other mushrooms, however we have met a mushroom expert that for a fee will come out and show us which ones we can and can't eat. We've not had him out yet. Fiddleheads are out now, I need to find someone that can tell us which ones of those to eat and which ones are poisonous. Maybe next year. I hope you get some time to play tomorrow, but more importantly I hope you are feeling better. scrapincin, sorry you're having computer issues. They stink. I can't live without it. Hope you made it to your scrap room. @elaynef, Are you happy to be going home? or could you have stayed another week or two? Can't wait to see your pages from your trip. maribeth, enjoy your trip! kellyr21, I really like the ones with the bright pink bows. Although the use of the tulle is very cool as well, and all of the cards are just so pretty. The chickens are growing way too fast. We were outside putting chicken wire over the top of the pen today. We got about 1/3 of the way through. Don first ran a chain down the middle on the top of the posts to keep the wire from sagging. The kids brought out a couple of birds and 4 hawks kept circling. Good thing we're putting the wire up. We were going to let them free range during the day, but now I just want to let them out when we're out. grammadee, I left you love on your wonderful layouts earlier. How's your back? Is it any better now? Waving hello to justjac and msliz! I ran errands this morning, left my house about 6:30am to get a jump on it all. After working on the chicken pen, I deep cleaned my dining room and cooked dinner. Today was definitely a day I would have turned to frozen pizzas if I could have. oh, well. I'll have a quick wipe down, sweep up of the house again tomorrow morning, make some strawberry coconut milk ice cream for after dinner as MIL is coming for dinner and for DS14's graduation from catechism on Sunday. He will be an adult in the church's eyes. Speaking of being an adult, his peach fuzz which he's had since age 12 has been getting darker and thicker to the point that he will also shave for the first time tomorrow. He won't let me take a during photo, but I said I get a before and after and that's non-negotiable. I'm a bit sad and a bit excited all at the same time. He's feeling the same way, as he's been a bit clingy this week. It's 10:30pm which means, I'm ready for bed. Good night all.

Mom Cards Kelly, they're all so beautiful! scrapincin, I hope you didn't lose your photos when your computer crashed! nylene, I'm sorry, I missed your note from the other day! I have three lovely DDs, 18yo fraternal twins and a 14yo (a pair and a spare) and the cheesecake was really good, but I'm so glad it's gone. It's not a good idea to eat that stuff every day, and it was so big it took us 3 days to polish it off. I wish I could have shared it with you (it seriously would have fed all the Pokey Peas)

Glad you got into your craftroom, nylene . Would love to see your grad cards. I need to make one for the end of this month. Thanks for the love in the Gallery, LisaDV, and thanks for the progress report on the chicks. I wonder what farmers with large flocks of free range chickens do about hawks? I don't remember them being a problem when we had chickens when I was a kid. Well I am at the end of my first Home Alone adventure. My back was being miserable today. I don't know why, except that yesterday I was at work all day and on my feet in shoes I don't wear very often? It just feels like it is going to get a cramp in it, and I had to move carefully, and take lots of breaks. I managed to finish a bunch of pages I had made up kits for our retreat and hadn't completed. It went fairly quickly, and I completed almost all I had planned for the day. At the retreat, I finished 33 pages, so I was hoping to get at least 31 this weekend. I guess 8 so far is not too bad... I have posted most of the pages in the Gallery. Here are my favorites from the day: hockey grin by Gramma Dee, on Flickr kings of the deck by Gramma Dee, on Flickr animal lover by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Thanks for asking about my trip lisaadv and nylene. I am happy to be home but we had a wonderful time. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary by visiting our children and grandchildren in NC. Some of them live near the blue Ridge parkway so we spent every day exploring it then we all went to Folly beach near Charleston. We rented a beautiful house on the beach. I wish I could have brought that front porch with a view of the ocean home with me! Everyone seemed to have a great time. The pic is one of my dgd and her fiancé who said, "I wish we all could just stay here and live together for ever".

@elaynef, I love that photo. Bet you have a ton of great family memories to scrap. And congratulations on your 50th anniversary!
I had a very scrappy NSD. Got a lot of pages done, but didn't take any photos of them. By the time I thought of it, the sun had gone round the house and I didn't have decent light. My back is feeling a bit better today. I took more breaks, went for a walk around the yard with the dogs, did some stretches. The creative flow was a little smoother today.
I need to pull out some photos to work on in the morning, and then I am off to bed.

Good Morning Pokey's! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend and NSD! Believe it or not I am working on a couple of layouts! I have several I could be doing and pulled them off my camera yesterday. I have the papers pulled for the one of them last night. @elaynef Happy 50th Anniversary! Wow that is one achievement you do not see all that often these days. We are coming up behind you as we have been married 45-46 in the fall. I hope you weren't in NC for the storms. They get hit with a lot of storms. My nephew and his family live around Raleigh. It is beautiful there though. grammadee-Hope your back recovers quickly because you are too busy to be down for very long. I know you kept busy even when your arm was fractured. Loved your pages and look forward to seeing the ones you did yesterday! I think your question about hawks ad free range chickens is a good one! I know my husband says they used to be able to shoot the hawks but now they are protected species that the general public can not to but then sometimes farmers are allowed to do things to protect their crops, animals and the like. msliz Fortunately I have not lost anything with these crashes! They tell me that I have no operating system when it comes back up but so far it has been there. I have a recent back-up that I did in Dropbox hoping that if that would happen I could recover most of it. It is a scary though as time consuming. I would just like to figure out what is causing it so it would stop doing it. nylene Congrats to your DGS! He must have worked hard to get to this point in his life! I give people with autism a lot of credit as they have to work a little harder then everyday Joe . I just wish they could figure out what causes Autism so they could help the ones with it. I remember seeing something on tv about it and they said its like being a prisoner in your own body. I know your cards will be beautiful! LisaDV Oh boy first shave is big news!!!! I bet he is excited not realizing once you start you have to continue for a long long time! Your family is so lucky to have you. You are always going out of your way to do special things for them. I look forward to hearing about the chicks too as they grow up so fast. How old are they before they start laying? You can tell I am no farmer! kellyr21 how is your other half doing? You haven't said much about Ron for a while. Are you guys watching the NBA playoffs? I normally do not watch basket ball as it moves so quickly I have trouble keeping up but I have been watching the Cavs. They are doing very well so far. They play again today and if they win it will give them another rest before moving on to their next opponent. You know I love seeing you working on your cards again. You make such pretty ones. American Ninja Warrior is being filmed in downtown Cleveland this week. I am not sure if that is what will be on the show tomorrow night or not. maribeth hope you and your hubby are having a wonderful and relaxing time on your camping trip. Is this a weekend one or are you on a vacation? I think Bob and I will be a little more flexible this summer as I think the DGC will be staying home for a while. Especially if their older sister comes again this summer. well I am going to get off of here as I have gone on and on long enough. It is just 6AM so not much to do but can not believe how chatty I am. I will be back later-hopefully with at least one layout to post!

It did rain a lot the 1st few days we were there, but no storms or flooding where we were. After the rain, the parkway was beautiful with no fog. We were able to spend a lot of time on it, unlike the last time we visited.

Here's my first page for NSD. This my DD with my DGS ready for the Mom Prom! IMG_9672 by Cindy Blair, on Flickr I have to tell you I made that tag quite a while ago and I loved it. I finally found a place to use it!
