2015 Kia Sorento that I absolutely LOVE! First new(er) car I have had since 1995. Bought it last year just off a lease with 30k miles on it. Has a great warranty, free oil change, tire rotation every other service, free tires for the life of the loan, roadside assistance...

I drive on country roads and for years put on 30 to 50 000 km per year. I drive on gravel and through unplowed snow. So I have needed a vehicle that could "hold the road". I drive a Ford Explorer. It has room to put down the seats and haul a lot of things, but I can put the seats up and seat seven when the grandkids are here.
I am not interested in a fancy car or one for show. I want reliability and safety and the option to do a number of different things with my vehicle.

Something in-between. I have a 2009 Subaru Forester. I love it. I catch myself thinking that maybe I should 'upgrade' when it's time for a new vehicle, but I can't really justify that. I just don't need a fancy car.

My vote was for newer, fancy schmancy (one of my favorite phrases!). My current car is a 2013 Lexus GX. I've come a long way since that first '64 VW Beetle! When I buy a car I get all the bells and whistles that are available...then keep them for many years. My prior car was an Expedition and I had it 12 years. With the exception of 2 yrs while we were overseas, I have driven big SUV's for the past 30+ years. I downsized when I bought the Lexus.
I'm also curious who is driving what crazy expensive rare car!

my car is a 2009 honda fit. It's a base model manual transmission, so the cheapest you can get. But it has less than 40k miles on it and is in near perfect condition. I couldn't even get the dealer to give me a tune up because it doesn't have enough miles on it. My husband just got a 2017 honda civic hatchback which I think is super fancy compared to my car, but it's also just a base level, manual transmission. But it does have a 6th gear and a fancy rear view camera.

Funny, DS asked me what my favorite cars have been. It made me a little wistful I named ones from 30-40 years ago that were actually legitimately cool.
I drive a middle of the market car, might be on its way to being a clunker. See my post on your referenced thread. It's a ten year old Honda about to meet 200K miles.

My SIL's car completely died and so she is borrowing my parents' late 90s Mercedes, diesel sedan. It has over 300k miles on it! Tape deck is still going strong.

I have an 87 chevy cavalier that my son wrecked. I am not happy, since it was in really great shape. I am trying to decided whether to repair it or not. I like driving it.
I bought a $54,000 chevy traverse will the bells and whistles It is sitting dead. It will cost ten grand to repair and it is the chevy mechanics fault it is not running. I will never spend that much on a car again.
I bought a honda accord for my husband. Is is a good car and we don't need bells and whistles.

DH and I both drive Subaru Outbacks (7 and 5 years old), so I'm definitely in the middle of the road category. DS is driving our 11 year old Honda CR-V but will trade with DH when DS leaves for college in August. Even though Hondas run forever and ours has had no problems, we are leery of putting him on 7 hour interstate trips in a car with 100,000+ miles on it.
We are kind of looking forward to being able to downsize and buy a smaller, sportier car in a couple of years when it will just be hubby and I on the road trips.

I bought my current vehicle in 2014, when it was three years old. It had only like 21,000 miles when I got it, so it was just like new to me.
When I was looking, there were a TON of vehicles that had super fancy computer set ups in the center console, which I did. not. want. (One more expensive thing to break, kwim?) This car has satellite radio and bluetooth capability for syncing to the phone, but that's the extent of its tech in the center. By the time I am ready for another new used car, I don't think I'm going to have a choice, but I'm hoping that's at least another seven or eight years down the road!

2006 Dodge caravan...we bought it outright in 2006 so I've never had a payment on it. I will drive it into the ground. 181,000+ miles on it, the interior roof sags, has a few dents and rust is growing on one dent, the radiator leaks (but I'm going to pay the shop to fix it after getting a quote today), chlorine spilled on the carpet ruining it, driver's side window sometimes works but more often doesn't, radio volume dial is all wacky and the back door locks don't work at all, but at least it isn't DH's truck with over 220,000 miles on it. Oh, and I voted older, worn down car but reliable.

we keep out cars forever. dh has a mini all black with chrome.. 2005--with 200,000 miles on it. he is still trying it to pass smog after 3 weeks of trying. he also has a 2016 subaru outback.. for a travel car. I had a honda crv that was 14 yrs old and 187,000.. and it died, so a couple of months ago, I got a subaru impreza...our cars last at least 10 yrs...dh still has the original clutch on the mini.. but it was mostly freeway commute miles.

Last week I saw a BMW i8, which is about $150K! It was so pretty! Once in awhile I'll see a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. And there is someone at my workplace that drives a Nissan GT-R ($110K). Apparently we pay some people at my work way too much money. Tell me about it!! Last week I was able to park in the underground car park (reserved for the Big Knobs of the company) and I was terrified of hitting someone's car while I was parking! There was at least one each of the following: Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo. There were no Lamborghinis or Ferraris though!

I have a Jeep Renegade and I love it. It's the perfect size for me and it does really well off road. It's the coolest vehicle I've ever owned!

My everyday is a 16 Kia Sorrento that I bought new with a great deal. I was able to get more features for a lower price than the ones that were new but I likely won't buy new again.
My fun car is a 2005 mini convertible. He's so much fun to drive... were at almost 200k miles and I intend to baby him for another 100k at least!

I ticked the second category. My '02 Accord has under 73K miles on her and a lot of life left. A bit dinged up but had her detailed today for the first time and I am very happy. No need to spend $$$ on an upgrade.

No payments on any of our vehicles...
My daily driver is a 2012 charger. Bought Memorial Day weekend 2015 with 10,000 miles and FULLY loaded complete with big nav screen and heated/cooled cup holder. It now has over 50K miles.
DH's daily driver is a 2005 sequoia with 150,000 miles on it. Bought brand new Memorial Day weekend 2005.
DH's work truck is a 1995 T-100 with over 250,000 miles on it. Bought by his parents in 1995 brand new, given to DH in 1998 as a college graduation present.
The "fun car" is a 2004 Corvette. The outlaws bought it on a whim when they were on vacation and drove it home. We borrowed it all the time and they hated it after a few months so it was offered to us to buy. We enjoyed it for a good many years but then we had kids. Now it's the grocery getter when DH just has one of the kids. It's a stick, I can't drive it.
There is also the Dodge Power Wagon that was bought when DH was born. It's got sentimental value so he won't get rid of it.
We also have a VTX motorcycle and a wakeboard boat. No payments on ANY of them and lots of fun times! Lol

Mine is middle of the road but way more than a few years old, not fancy but very reliable.
2003 Nissan Pathfinder with 195,000 miles and counting. I still love it. I think about getting a new car with backup camera, bluetooth and leather but can't part with my money when this one is so darn dependable. Dh has maintained it meticulously.

I have a 2015 Nissan Murano, platinum edition. I absolutely love this car. It was expensive and has a lot of extras. I usually drive a car just to the point when the trade in value is still high. I maintain my cars in top shape, which is easy to do because my kid hauling days are over.

I drive a 2009 Citroen C3. I don't drive a lot (take the bus to and from work) so it's done less than 50,000km.

2003 high-end (at the time) VW Golf, bought new, running till it dies. It's still good, but I'm aware that things are going to start going wrong. Every year that it gets through its MOT and service without a huge bill is another good year.

I drive what my work buys me, presently a 2015 Ford Edge. That is commuting, work trips and I do most of my errands to/from work so I don't drive our personal vehicles a lot. Our personal vehicles are a car, truck and big SUV but are now 7-15 years old. We tend to drive vehicles for a long time, so we go for reliability. We are tossing around buying a new something, either a truck or car. We love having no car payments, so are dragging our feet.
