I'd own a top of the line fabric store, something like Britex in San Francisco. Then I'd travel the world buying fantastic fabric to stock this store. That would combine my serious case of wanderlust with my love of fabrics!

I would like to teach without standards or state testing. Just me and a group of kids so I could facilitate them following their passions.

Currently I'm a SAHM and super duper school volunteer, neither of which pays.
I'm attempting to be a novelist, the problem is if it's going to take 3 years per book I need to either write faster or 24 hours a day or it's also going to not pay...
The last time I got a paycheck was for jury duty, I'd really like to earn money again...

Broadway star. I wish I had done more theater in college--I can't sing, but I could dance and act, and I love theater. I took a playwriting class in college with a theater director, and it was exhilarating and terrifying.

I work with adults with disabilities and love what I do. But I would really like to take it a step further and be a behavior specialist or an art therapist.
I would also love to be a fashion designer.
I would also love to be able to work part time. I'm not really cut out to stay home all day but a little more time away from work would be nice.

Live in the Caribbean somewhere, working at a beach bar and spending my time reading and hanging at the beach whenever I'm not working.

I'd like to work for Be The Match or something similar, using my experience to help other people get the help they need while fighting cancer.

I want to do research for Stephen King. He has someone, or someones, who research details for his novels so he can be creative but still be accurate. I want that job. I'd do it for another really prolific author, but I'd prefer to do research for SK. I would have loved to have done the research for 11/22/63.

An independent philanthropist. I'd love to have so much money that I could afford to help people who needed it. I could have people who helped me find deserving individuals and families whose lives could be made much better with some financial help. Money can't solve all problems, but having enough to not worry about it every minute and every day could make a difference for people who have other challenges in their lives, and it would be the coolest thing in the world to be able to make that happen.

I have not given up on my dream job, which is researching ideas and content for Sesame Street. They hire PhD's with background in child development and education to do that. I'm finishing my PhD now. They also hire people they know. Currently, I don't know anyone there....working on that.

I actually love my job. I might want to teach different content for a while, but I like being a teacher.
If I couldn't be a teacher, I always wanted to be a lawyer...a prosecutor specifically.

I want to own a dog rescue, mainly for older dogs that are harder to find homes for, but I'd take all comers. I also want to travel the world and review hotels, tours, restaurants, etc. There used to be a travel channel show where Samantha someone did this. Dh and I used to say how good we would be at that and how much fun it would be. I like moodyblue 's answer too--a professional philanthropist.

I'd love to be a personal trainer. And get paid to work out all the time. I think that's a hard job! Personal trainers don't workout when they are training people. They have to work early mornings and evenings to accommodate the schedules of working people. There's a lot of homework coming up with new workouts every week so it's the same thing for their clients. I imagine they might have to keep files on each clients to remember everything. Plus traveling from place to place where they work. No days off. I know a trainer that always complains about taking vacations, saying she is spending money while not making money (because she doesn't have paid vacation time). I know another coach that had a baby and only took one month maternity leave, while she was still coaching clients through her phone during her one month. I imagine there must be a lot of self-pressure to get her body back in order to represent what her clients want to achieve.

I want to be Anthony Bourdain. My problem is I'm a picky eater so I'd have to figure out a way to correct that situation first. But the travel, the food, the conversations... sigh.

My "if I won the lottery and didn't have to work" or "post retirement fun job" is to work for a historical location as a guide or person who dresses up and does stuff. Like there is a living history museum in southeast WI called Old World Wisconsin where they have some small farmsteads and a little village where people are dressed and work as shopkeepers, blacksmiths, farmhands, farm wives, etc. I'd love to be someone who works at a place like that.

Honestly? It wouldn't be a job per se. I'd like to be able to afford to stay home. I'm currently working 2 jobs. If I could stay home I could make sure everyone is taken care of. DH has terminal cancer and will not do anything/go anywhere until I'm there to encourage him to do so. So I feel a lot of guilt that I'm not home to help him with that because he tends to stay in the house. DS has Autism and DH won't do anything with DS unless I'm around. My Dad has had terrible health since the beginning of the year. I had to fly down to Florida to bring him home (snow bird) and he had surgery, is currently in rehab, and I'm working on moving him to assisted living. He has 2 properties that need to be cleaned out and sold. So add that to 'my list'. I'm tired of juggling everything. I'm doing so much I'm not doing anything well. I'm doing enough to survive at this point and there seems to be no end in sight. So if I could have my dream job it would be to quit my 2 jobs so I can be around to take care of everyone the way I want to take care of them. There's not enough of me to go around and everyone's getting shorted and I feel incredibly guilty about it. My heart goes out to you.
