Set aside education, skills, cons, salary, & location associated with doing a job. What would your dream job be if you could do whatever you wanted?

I want my own store where I buy the clothes, merchandise them and have a staff of enough people to run my shop. I know what my shop looks like, I know what I want to carry as this shop already exists. I wouldn't want it for my only source of income. I would need a husband to help run it with me.

I don't think this job exists anymore, but at the Waldorf Astoria there is a person who polishes silver all day. I would love that job.

If I had all the knowledge and education already and didn't have to go through medical school, I'd totally want to be a surgeon.

My grandmother had some silver cutlery and stuff she always used at Christmas....if you were naughty, you had to polish the silver......aaaaaaaarrrrgghhh....no more silver ,please.....! apparently,I was often naughty!

I'd like to be a tour guide of some sort - either a town Walking Tour or a museum/gallery guide.
On vacation last week, we did a tour with someone who had worked for many years in hospitality, and now runs personal (up to 8 people) wine tours in southern France. He does a different tour each day of the week, so some variety. I'd love to be brave enough to do something like that.

Since lesley took the best job in the world, I will go with a more altruistic one. If money and time were no object I would like to be a kind of consumer ombudsman, but with powers to make companies, government departments etc do their jobs and fix their messes. Name and shame and get justice for some of the nonsense they perpetrate. They say the only way to avoid suffering from stress is to be a carrier, right? I would enjoy totally stressing out some jobsworths who torture the general populace.

Honestly? It wouldn't be a job per se. I'd like to be able to afford to stay home. I'm currently working 2 jobs. If I could stay home I could make sure everyone is taken care of. DH has terminal cancer and will not do anything/go anywhere until I'm there to encourage him to do so. So I feel a lot of guilt that I'm not home to help him with that because he tends to stay in the house. DS has Autism and DH won't do anything with DS unless I'm around. My Dad has had terrible health since the beginning of the year. I had to fly down to Florida to bring him home (snow bird) and he had surgery, is currently in rehab, and I'm working on moving him to assisted living. He has 2 properties that need to be cleaned out and sold. So add that to 'my list'. I'm tired of juggling everything. I'm doing so much I'm not doing anything well. I'm doing enough to survive at this point and there seems to be no end in sight.
So if I could have my dream job it would be to quit my 2 jobs so I can be around to take care of everyone the way I want to take care of them. There's not enough of me to go around and everyone's getting shorted and I feel incredibly guilty about it.

Similar to lesley, but I want to travel to every possible place and get paid to write about my adventures. I want to be Hannah Shaw when I grow up! I had to google her, but wow. How cool.

There's not enough of me to go around and everyone's getting shorted and I feel incredibly guilty about it. That does sound completely overwhelming. A word from someone who has spread themselves too thin and paid the price, please take some time for yourself and do not feel guilty for what you can't do. I wish I could help you in some way ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/hug.gif) I had to google her, but wow. How cool. She does so much for cats and kittens, I kind of love her.

I'm in fine jewelry retail for the next week. I've had this job for 7 years with three years of on-and-off before that and it's something I'd expected to do for life even if it wasn't my absolute favorite thing in the world. Due to some family things and life changes, I have one week left of work. I'm having a baby in a month so I'm not actively seeking anything now, but once I'm ready I would ideally like to remain in jewelry but not from the retail perspective. I would love to work mostly from home, a bit on the road, and maybe shows once or twice a year selling estate pieces- not super old antiques per se, but funky gold, diamond, colored stone pieces. Pieces that make you do a double take. Eye catchers.

I like my job. I'm really good at it. Realistically, I'd like to find a way to teach other people to do my job, but my district doesn't hire teacher specialists for music, and other districts tend to hire from their own teacher base.
In a fantasy world, I'd like to just stay home. I'd keep busy with a lot of volunteering.

I'd love to be a personal trainer. And get paid to work out all the time.
I'd also love to travel the world and write about it. Dream goals! Sigh.
Sadly there are more bills than money, so I will just keep plugging along and being sad. Lol.

Well I kinda will be screwing my job soon since I'm retiring later this summer.
DH and I want to visit all 59 of the National Parks (not all the monuments, seashores, ghost towns, etc.), and some other places around the US. Then maybe the Canadian parks.
