I would like to set up a foundation that helps poor people get active. Probably thru running, because that's what I like. We would have an unlimited budget to buy things like sports bras, hydration packs, running shoes etc for people who can't afford it. We'd pay for babysitters for people who can't leave small children at home alone and have no support. We'd have trainers that do 1 on 1 coaching at home so people can do workouts when their kids are asleep. Our health is our wealth.

Hmmm work-wise I think being a philosophy teacher for students who are truly interested in the subject. And while we're dreaming, singing in a band on the weekend and going on a dig in Egypt once before I retire. Sigh.
More realistically, my retirement plan is to indulge my love of dabbling and become a permanent student of philosophy, political science, sociology and history. Plus art classes, cooking and wine classes, museum memberships and volunteering at the theatre. And traveling of course. Oh and photography. Maaaybe a language.

I'd like to be a philanthropist. If I couldn't do that, I would love to be a vet tech and work with exotic animals.

Too many possibilities!
First thing that comes to mind is LIBRARIAN which if you had asked me 20 years ago would have been the last thing I would have said!
Marine Biologist Forensice Pathologist Farmer
Pretty varied, but those are the things that I would love to have done...

If I was still too young to retire, which is what I really want to do, I would sew historically correct garb for living history programs like Izabella Pitcher from Prior Attire. I would be an expert in historic garb construction and I would collect wonderful vintage, antique and reproduction fabrics for my creations. I would have enough orders to make a good living for myself all the while indulging my love of the fashions and clothing of the past, or better yet, not even need the money I get because I am already wealthy, right?
I would also be an expert spinner and weaver to make some of my own fabrics from fiber to cloth. I would have a lovely bright workroom to spend my days in. I might even have someone to help me with hand sewing and finishes.
I would do it part time - only as much as I wanted to. I would sub contract orders out if I got too busy or an order wasn't very interesting.
I might give talks or programs about garb and possibly provide costumes for living history sites and programs r even films that want authentic clothing. I think Izabella Pitcher does all these things. She lives in England and that would also be a plus, especially if I lived by the sea!
On the side I would have a law degree and pass the board so when people f@#$ with me or my family I can use my knowledge and skill to take care of it expediently and get back to sewing.

Honestly? It wouldn't be a job per se. I'd like to be able to afford to stay home. I'm currently working 2 jobs. If I could stay home I could make sure everyone is taken care of. DH has terminal cancer and will not do anything/go anywhere until I'm there to encourage him to do so. So I feel a lot of guilt that I'm not home to help him with that because he tends to stay in the house. DS has Autism and DH won't do anything with DS unless I'm around. My Dad has had terrible health since the beginning of the year. I had to fly down to Florida to bring him home (snow bird) and he had surgery, is currently in rehab, and I'm working on moving him to assisted living. He has 2 properties that need to be cleaned out and sold. So add that to 'my list'. I'm tired of juggling everything. I'm doing so much I'm not doing anything well. I'm doing enough to survive at this point and there seems to be no end in sight. So if I could have my dream job it would be to quit my 2 jobs so I can be around to take care of everyone the way I want to take care of them. There's not enough of me to go around and everyone's getting shorted and I feel incredibly guilty about it. I'm so sorry you have so much to deal with. That's just overwhelming. I hope in some way you can find a little time for yourself to decompress.

Anything that doesn't require filing or updating paperwork. I hate that shit. i loved working retail. I liked closing the store and making everything look perfect for the next day. I liked resetting the store with new merchandise. I did not like working every freakin' weekend/holiday.

I would like to be a student. Stay home and pursue a photography degree and then a pastry chef certificate. And when that's all done maybe go to work!

I like my job as a construction project accountant, but I am really looking forward to retirement in three years. I'm just tired of working and look forward to relaxing and having more time for family and hobbies.
My dream job was to own a scrapbook store. I used to do Stampin' Up several years ago and loved sharing my skills with paper crafts with others.

I want to own a dog rescue, mainly for older dogs that are harder to find homes for, but I'd take all comers. I also want to travel the world and review hotels, tours, restaurants, etc. There used to be a travel channel show where Samantha someone did this. Dh and I used to say how good we would be at that and how much fun it would be. I'd own a dog rescue. Big, huge dog rescue. (Samantha Brown was the solo traveler that I remember. She sells a line of luggage on HSN now. )

Foster mom for cats. Complete with home for said cats...catico's, all the bells and whistles I've seen in other homes. My only job would be to make sure they are fed, watered, clean the litter boxes (that part would be the chore) and pats and play time all day long!!!
Or a photographer for a travel magazine.

I had several come to mind-- a puppy cuddler- not the owner but just playing with and loving on them all day photographer of places all around the globe. I'd love to photograph animals or landscapes a combo graphic designer/party planner. I love to create invitations, flyers, printables of all kind and if I could incorporate that with planning kid's parties that would be great. I really miss planning my kid's parties. I think I'd like to do each of those for a month or two and just rotate between them. ![](https://media.fotki.com/2v2JGmVoCxA5eGL.gif)

Well right now I would just love a job. Job hunting sucks but that is another whole thread.. my dream job:
This just popped in my head.. own a Christmas store that is opened all year round except February through May. Those months I would be traveling the world looking for stuff for my shop.. Upscale stuff. There would be the cheapie items as well, but a price point for all people. There is a cool store here in Denver called St. Nicks.. basically that is what they do. Of course, it would make enough money to where I didn't have to go in everyday and have good employees to run it. But I want to do the traveling part.

I remembered my other dream job.
I'd like to create a business that caters to working families. Childcare, but so much more. Where you can drop off your kids, and your laundry, then pick up clean laundry with the nightly pick up.
Where you can pick up a healthy hot dinner to go when you get your kids.
Where you'd ask for a house cleaner to zip by and spend a few hours at your house whenever you need it. ( like if company were coming).
Where someone was available for emergency school pickups.
Whatever it takes to make working parents' lives easier.

A bookstore owner.
I actually didn't post at first because I love my job but then I realized I can keep my job and own my store too.
I would sell books in as many languages that I could stock. I live in Queens which is supposedly the most multilingual county in the U.S. I would have a children's floor and a romance floor. Since of course it would be multi level. **sigh** dreams.

Okay, so this is probably really lame, but I would honestly love to work for Ikea.
I would basically do anything other than food handling or using a lift (our Ikea opened last year and within the first month an employee broke part of the ceiling by the register...I joke that that would have been me if I worked there...but more likely I'd end up the one with the viral video of the warehouse shelves falling like dominoes), but ultimately I'd like to be one of the people responsible for staging or frankensteining products for the as-is section (talked with one of the people back there and he told me that's what they do and why everything is already built...it's not all returned products that customers already assembled). I LOVE putting things together, even Ikea things. I grew up being the designated assembly person for almost anything that required assembling. It didn't matter if it was a bike, a desk chair, etc. And I actually enjoy putting together Ikea furniture once I decipher what things mean (usually their photos are pretty accurate, but sometimes they fail to identify similar looking parts) so long as I can lift it (the 5x5 Kallax was tough for even my husband to lift...and we failed to take into consideration their suggestion for building on a rug thinking it was purely to prevent scratching...nope...hard to get your fingers under a flat 200lb item on a flat floor...wont make that mistake again). I've assembled at least 7 Kallax/Expedit units of varying sizes, a dresser, 6 Alex drawer units, a headboard, a bunk bed, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. I enjoy the process immensely and would love to get paid to do it. I even enjoyed putting together my 4 tiered spinner from Harbor Freight that was a huge thing for crafters a few years back.

I would love to be a photographer who shoots portraits of people and their pets. I do this as a volunteer for our dog park events and I love it! People open up and let their guard down when they're with their pets and it is so endearing to me that people are eager for me to witness what they love about them.

Anything that involves a creative process. I love to sew and I love scrapping and card making. I really enjoy the part where I have to "think about it" before the actual "making" part starts. I guess what I really would like is to have the time to allow my creative self to bloom. In other words - no interruptions!
