Do you see what you just did here? Have you been studying the lying strategies of the dumbass in the WH in your spare time? You just pulled some random claim out of your ass with no verification or basis in reality like a big old toxic fart, and then back away, leaving it hanging. Sad. I've heard the claims on the news, asshole. I said I'd google it but I had a headache. Fred didn't find anything, Gia did. So what's my next move supposed to be? This place has turned into a big fucking research project where everything needs to be backed up with fucking links so it can all be fucking verified. THAT is sad. And when we do back it up with links and facts you know it will be dismissed. Without fail. Facts. Dismissed. They are never wrong.

When you talk about facts you must be using this definition.."The place most people in the world tend to think their opinion resides". When it comes to facts I personally subscribe to this definition.. "Event, item of information, or state of affairs existing, observed, or known to have happened, and which is confirmed or validated to such an extent it is considered "reality". Regardless of the definition you use , if you get your facts in a row, one can't argue with the facts presented. It ceases to be a case of who's right or wrong but instead "that's the way it is based on the facts and if you don't like it too bad so sad." And you very rarely hit that point with your valid points. By the way are you going to show me where you answered the question of why CNN and not Fox News?

I just see the least biased list, and our local newspaper is on there (St. Cloud Times). So that is cool. I would say, though, that biased does not always equal fake nor does unbiased automatically mean true/real news.

And you very rarely hit that point with your valid points. By the way are you going to show me where you answered the question of why CNN and not Fox News? Fact 1. They published a story saying Anthony Scaramucci was being investigated for collusion with the Russians. It was wrong. Three CNN employees resign over it. DISMISSEDFact 2. CNN forced to issue a correction for saying only the Democrats prayed at congressional baseball game. DISMISSEDFact 3. CNN Senior White House Correspondent claimed that Trump did not visit Scalise in the hospital. He was wrong. DISMISSEDFact 4. CNN issues correction after Comey's statement contradicts their reporting. They said his testimony would refute the statement that Trump made that Comey told him 3 times HE personally was not being investigated. DISMISSEDFact 5. Claiming that "firing Comey was a grotesque abuse of power, the kind of thing that goes on in non-democracies." DISMISSEDFact 6. Reported a White House fence jumper as caught and detained during Obama's administration and during Trump's a report on the same thing, the headline read that she was just trying to see the President and she was arrested. DISMISSEDFact 7. CNN added a word to what Trump said about Israel's extraordinary vetting methods, to make it appear to be racist, when it actually wasn't. DISMISSED
Fact 8. CNN edits police shooting victim's sister's call for violence to make it look like she's peaceful, when she clearly isn't. DISMISSEDFact 9. Reported that Trump got 2 scoops of ice cream with his pie while everyone else got 1. It's not wrong, but a perfect example of some of their hysterically, deranged reporting. DISMISSEDFact 10. CNN commentator and DNC interim chair Donna Brazile was caught feeding questions to Hillary for the CNN town Hall. DISMISSEDYou've seen at least one of the answers and even quoted it. But keep demonstrating that "motivated ignorance", you excel at it, you've clearly had a lot of practice.

Devildog, from my historical experience, I always found you to be a very knowledgable and thoughtful poster. No credibility shore up required from my chair. Absolutely agree with you regarding dialogue here.
And, from one who took one heck of a long break from all this stuff, I just have to say, there is NO shortage of circular arguments, manipulation of context etc. from either side. I think if many would take a step back from their engagement, they would find this isn't discussion, but "arguing for sport entertainment" for them. And sadly, I think THIS is precisely why our government gets away with less accountability than ever all the while we feel better about ourselves in "fighting the good and right fight." Just my two old cents, worth zero.

I look at this place to be somewhere to come for entertainment, learning a few things here and there, and reading some debates. I never expected to be basically considered a liar. Disagree with me, fine. A liar? I don't think so. Your country's politics are a bit of a mess right now, all round. I see you always being reasonable and willing to listen but emotions are high on this subject. Perhaps the non political threads will provide you with the entertainment etc that you're after. I hope you feel better soon. I can let myself get wound up reading the He said/She said stuff - and I'm not even in America so it must be hard being directly affected. And I agree with what Merge said above - with so many alternative facts around, it's the source that's doubted, not you personally.

And I agree with what Merge said above - with so many alternative facts around, it's the source that's doubted, not you personally. Yeah - to add to that - now that we know that a foreign power ran (or is still running) a huge disinformation campaign to manipulate our politics, not to mention the American-based fake news sites on both sides, no one gets away with a vague "I saw on the internet" or "I heard on the radio" when making political claims. People interested in truth want to know where "you" got your information because we're constantly trying to sift through all the nonsense out there from both sides to see what's really going on. I'm sorry some people find that offensive or frustrating, but when it comes to political chatter, I'm not taking anyone at their word these days. ETA: The NRA ad linked on another thread illustrates this perfectly. I can just hear someone saying to a friend, "I saw on TV that the public schools are teaching that Trump is Hitler!" So many people these days can't differentiate between opinion and news, a paid ad and actual journalism ... that kind of scenario will totally happen.

Just my two old cents, worth zero. I agree and I think both sides are guilty of bull slinging. He said she said he did she did. We've got a big problem in this country, with 50% of babies being born on Medicaid and practically no middle class, and both sides had better get on the ball and address this or we are going down the tubes FAST. We need to join forces and make ALL elected officials accountable if they want our votes.

Why why you guys even bother trying to reason is mind boggling. It will never sink in how ironic she is.

Thanks so much for posting this. It was a great read. Maybe partly because he said some things I've been thinking lately.

^^^ I agree... unfortunately. (unfortunately, as in his comment about probably being stuck with Trump until 2020)
