Oh no! I would not wish cancer on anyone, no matter the politics. I've always considered him to be an American hero, even though I disagree with his politics.

Terrible news. Explains a lot about his bizarre statements at Comey hearing. Hope he finds successful treatment.

Terrible news. Explains a lot about his bizarre statements at Comey hearing. Hope he finds successful treatment. I was thinking the same thing. This is heartbreaking. Even if I don't agree with some of his politics, I have a huge amount of respect for the man.

I'm sad to hear this. I like him a lot. I was sad that he let people talk him into Sarah Palin--I don't think she was HIS choice. I like that he stands up to Trump. And I LOVED this:

Too bad. I like him and the fact that he has a spine. The kind of cancer was named--and it is an AWFUL one. Our friend lived only 9 months after diagnosis. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GlioblastomaBREAKING NEWS Senator John McCain has brain cancer. The tumor was found last week when the Arizona Republican had a blood clot removed. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 8:22 PM EDT Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona and the Republican Party’s presidential nominee in 2008, has brain cancer, according to a statement his office released on Wednesday. Mr. McCain was treated at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix last Friday to remove a blood clot above his left eye. The brain tumor — known as a glioblastoma — was discovered during that procedure, the statement said. Eddie-n-HarleyThat is still the treatment. Our friend was treated at the medical university and had the latest ideas...not much progress on such a terrible form of cancer.

Hopefully it is a type that he can recover from. It is a glioblastoma, which is what my mother had. Her prognosis was 6-12 months; she survived 5 months, and that was WITH tumor removal, chemo and radiation. That was ten years ago, though, and I'm not sure if they've made much progress with treatment options since then. I do feel for him, and I agree with SO, who just said that if there were a just God in this universe, John McCain would have met his quota for bad things after five years as a POW.
