It sounds like Inked have realised there's a decent audience over at Ali's that could do with more PL-geared/seasonal product throughout the year. With the hot mess that Studio Calico's Documenter kit sub has become, it's a smart move as long as the price point is right. katiejaeger Do you know whether the card quality will be the same as the one used for the current Story Kits and 2017 DD products?

Hi all! I hope you are having a great Monday. The new Stories By The Month subscription was formed after multiple requests from our community to create physical versions of the Monthly Digital Kits. You can see all of the product designs here: aliedwards.com/shop/monthly-digital-kits -- they will include the journal cards, the chipboard, and a 3x4 stamp. The stamps shown in the digital version will have more designs as we couldn't fit them all on the 3x4 sized stamp since some would have been too small. We could have chosen to do a 4x6 stamp for this subscription, but we wanted to keep the price point low, so we changed the size of the stamp which in turn changed some of the designs that would fit. They will release one month ahead of when the specific theme/holiday would normally take place (for example: the January kit which talks about goals, new year, etc is releasing in December). The price point will be much lower than the Story Kits and Story Stamps™ due to less products included and we will also not be offering an education component for this subscription. You will be able to see full details and sign up for the subscription on 12/13 at 12am EST. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer! Katie, I'm wondering if bundling/ combined shipping of the Story Kit, Story Stamp and the new SBTM kit will be available given their close timing? Being an international subber to the Story Kit and Stamp already this would be a huge incentive!

It sounds a lot like Elle's Studio kits. I love ES but her color schemes are a little too primary for me. I think the AE kit will be perfect for me.

I am checking into this for you-- the likelihood is probably a no based on my knowledge of how our inventory system works-- but I will check! The international shipping will be $2 just like the Story Kits™ and Story Stamps™. It will be free for domestic customers.

They better have enough stock is all I can say. I’ll be furious if it sells out immediately.
I’ll be subbing to give it a go if I can. It’s at a price point I can get on board with.

Very competitive, especially since her digitalis usually cost more than that.

After seeing the reveal and the prices I am planning on subbing...
Anyone find it odd that the digital version of the kit is the same price as the month-to-month of the physical version (and $5 MORE than the physical kit if I commit to a year)? That seems super overpriced for a digital kit!

That seems super overpriced for a digital kit! I agree with you 100% but I think the *logic is that you can reprint the digitalis a million times if you want. I'm not a fan of digital myself so I only use it if it's free or cheap which Ali's stuff is definitely neither of those.

Yeah of course you can reuse them... but you also have to pay for paper & ink to reprint them. Plus--the big reason I see that they should be cheaper--is that it doesn't cost Ali/Inked anything for another person to purchase the digital kit (obviously she needs to paid for her time spent designing the products, but that should be covered regardless of if 100 people or 1000 people buy it--what she put into it doesn't change). In contrast, for each person that purchases a physical kit, a portion of the purchase price goes to paying for the manufacturing of those physical products and shipping them--so it's never 100% profit. I don't know what the cost to manufacture/ship the products is per kit, but IMO that should be the difference in price between the two--digital or physical. SaveSave

Exact same thoughts. This is a great price point and a great product for those of us who are ok with having some of Ali's handwriting in our albums yet don't want the amount of fluff that often goes unused in kits. I don't use thick acrylic words, I don't care for little bits and bobs that won't match the rest of my tiny stash, etc. Colour me surprised but considering how cheap it is, I'm thinking about getting a 6-month sub to give it a try. And I haven't subbed to a kit in forever... Off to look at the 2017 monthly digi kits to see what I'd be getting January through June. ETA: since I'm in branding, I can't stress enough how pleasantly surprised I am by this strategy. This is a very smart move to take care of the brand. Reuse designs from the past year that were digital offer only, keep price point nice and surprisingly realistic, offer what people love and seek the most in kit offers (good quality cards, chipboard and decent-sized stamp set). As a pro, I'm impressed.

Regarding quantity-- We are starting off with what we feel like is a responsible amount for our business. So please be on there when subscriptions go live if you can (12/12 at 9pm PT or 12am ET). Obviously we do not want to cause ANY disappointment-- but we are a business and have to make responsible decisions when ordering quantity. If these kits do indeed sell out, the subscription would go on a waitlist just like the Story Kit™ and Story Stamps™ and will likely be available again in early 2018.

I am definitely interested! Me, too. It fits with people like me who like her stuff but don't feel the need or want to pay for classroom content we're never going to use. It's actually a really good price point for any brand, so it's a phenomenal value for HER brand.

It varies I would say, but she tried to give an even mix of font and handwriting.

That one is a little too detailed to be able to make out the words on a 3x4 sized stamp I believe. But I will put it on my list to give away as a digital freebie around valentines day. I will also make a note to include this design on a bigger 4x6 shop stamp set-- since I agree, it would be great as a bigger stamp!

I am really excited about this sub. I strictly do PL, so my stories are more calendar related than themed. I did story stamps and story kits for awhile; but I wasn't using the educational content (largely due to technical issues with streaming video on our DSL) and it just wasn't the right sub for me. I still reach for the product, but couldn't document with just that alone. I always liked the monthly digital kits, but never bought since I prefer physical product. The thing I am most excited about is the story prompt type cards, if that makes sense. One of the things I loved about storytelling with Project Life and Ali's PL spreads is seeing the small stories that go into her album without photos. And I stink at that! If it matches up with a photo, no problem. But I struggle with identifying the other stories to include, how to work them in without it feeling weird and random, etc. I was planning to continue PL next year, but with one of my favorite designers cutting ties with SC, I was worried about having product that would meet my needs and style. This is perfect timing for me and a good little bump to start the year off with something I am excited about. katiejaeger Will we see the DT using these kits for inspiration? I would assume we will see it in what Ali shares from her personal albums, but just curious how much inspiration will be produced on your end without the official education piece. Thanks for taking the time to pop over and answer our questions!

I just put 2 and 2 together that the January physical kit is the digital kit with fewer stamps. Do we think this will be the case for the whole year? I do almost exclusively digital, but wondering if it's worth getting if it's "older" product.
Edit: Someone asked in the Facebook post...they 2018 kits are going to be the same as the 2017 digitals and there will be new 2018 digitals. It feels "cheap" to me and I've now lost all the excitement I had a couple hours ago.

I am really excited about this new kit! It may be just what I need to get back into PL. I like the Story Kits for telling bigger stories both old and new (and I do that on a regular 12x12 spread, not PL-style), but I like this monthly kit for documenting today.
I just ordered the OLW kit and am very excited to begin that, too. Oh man, that's a lot of documenting to do this year.

I guess I am not sure what you man BSideCrafter about it being "cheap"... do you mean because the new designs are digital only and not physical (if I am understanding correctly)? If that is the case, it is actually a huge pro for me. I would be much more likely to sign up for a long term sub if I knew what I was getting. Now granted, Ali's style is very consistent but we still see some people having pretty strong reactions to story stamps and kits at reveal when they see actual designs. I also like the variety of designs in the chipboard based on last year as well. It isn't the same set of dies used over and over like we have seen from Inked before.

I want kits to have new and unseen products. If I wanted something a year old I would have bought it a year ago. So yes using the 2017 designs for 2018 feels cheap and an easy way out. I guess I can see why people would want to know, but there's knowing and being able to buy it already.
