I am really excited about this sub. I strictly do PL, so my stories are more calendar related than themed. I did story stamps and story kits for awhile; but I wasn't using the educational content (largely due to technical issues with streaming video on our DSL) and it just wasn't the right sub for me. I still reach for the product, but couldn't document with just that alone. I always liked the monthly digital kits, but never bought since I prefer physical product. The thing I am most excited about is the story prompt type cards, if that makes sense. One of the things I loved about storytelling with Project Life and Ali's PL spreads is seeing the small stories that go into her album without photos. And I stink at that! If it matches up with a photo, no problem. But I struggle with identifying the other stories to include, how to work them in without it feeling weird and random, etc. I was planning to continue PL next year, but with one of my favorite designers cutting ties with SC, I was worried about having product that would meet my needs and style. This is perfect timing for me and a good little bump to start the year off with something I am excited about. katiejaeger Will we see the DT using these kits for inspiration? I would assume we will see it in what Ali shares from her personal albums, but just curious how much inspiration will be produced on your end without the official education piece. Thanks for taking the time to pop over and answer our questions! Yes! The team will be contributing inspiration each month in blog posts/on the subscription page.

I guess I am not sure what you man BSideCrafter about it being "cheap"... do you mean because the new designs are digital only and not physical (if I am understanding correctly)? If that is the case, it is actually a huge pro for me. I would be much more likely to sign up for a long term sub if I knew what I was getting. Now granted, Ali's style is very consistent but we still see some people having pretty strong reactions to story stamps and kits at reveal when they see actual designs. I also like the variety of designs in the chipboard based on last year as well. It isn't the same set of dies used over and over like we have seen from Inked before. I want kits to have new and unseen products. If I wanted something a year old I would have bought it a year ago. So yes using the 2017 designs for 2018 feels cheap and an easy way out. I guess I can see why people would want to know, but there's knowing and being able to buy it already. I've never bought any of the digital monthly kits because they are overpriced for my needs. As a result, I haven't looked at them before, so this new physical kit does have new to me products. Additionally, it has the value that I know what will be included in each kit ahead of time - there will be no unexpected color or design choices that I don't like/typically use.

So I'm debating staying up until midnight to subscribe because I'm completely sold on this... but I have to work the next day. i totally get not wanting to over order, but I don't get why they don't just take pre-orders months in advance (especially for this where the products were designed ahead of time!) and then they can order the perfect amount? Also, I'm super pissed because my one little word order was supposed to arrive today and it's not here even though the tracking says it was delivered! Totally wasn't stolen either... I was home all day and brought the mail in 20 minutes after it was delivered. So mad! I really hope I'm able to get the products eventually... but I was looking forward to setting up my album already SaveSave

Feels like you have to fight off the ‘competition’ to stand a chance of actually getting the product.

I will also have to get up before 5am
Which is annoying
I’m using a lot of my story kits in my olw albums so I’m going to be super disapointed if I don’t get to sub to this kit

Can someone remind me where the topics are for the Story Kits again? I don't understand why there isn't an easy to find tab (or maybe there is and I can't find it-which would then make it not easy to find ). There seems to be space in the drop down under story kits, why can't there be a "Topics" tab?

Thanks lasteve1 for your review, and sleepingbooty for summary. I decided this was good year to take the plunge with an official class and prompts. I went ahead and bought the class, kit and old product. I haven't opened class yet. Is it delivered on the same day each month? Does it state when? I'm thinking about pencilling in a date each month or bi-weekly to work on this.

Additionally, it has the value that I know what will be included in each kit ahead of time - there will be no unexpected color or design choices that I don't like/typically use. The decision to release last year's digitals as physical kits this year seems a little odd to me - or rather, the bit about continuing to design new digitals each month and then presumably releasing them a year later as physical kits... The people who did buy last year's digitals are now locked into continuing to buy the new digitals even if they'd prefer physical kits because they already have the kits that are releasing now. People who like the new digitals (which they're going to see if they follow Ali and her team) can either buy them now and print their own or wait an entire year (and hope that the plan doesn't change - which it probably will). Do you see what I mean? It splits customers into two tracks and locks them in to the track they pick. It assumes no one ever buys a digital when they'd really prefer a physical kit. I'd be pissed if I'd bought the digitals all last year, if I was printing them to use as physical kits. What are those customers going to do this year - especially now that the new product makes their digitals look overpriced? I guess it will work for the majority of people who are strictly physical kits (or strictly digital) but it still seems like an odd choice to me. Cost effective (making the most of existing work done/easy money) for AE though.

Assuming the schedule is still how it was when I did OLW and Story Kits a couple of years ago, the OLW content comes out on the 1st of the month, with a guest designer adding something mid-month (which is when the Story Kits come out). It works out quite well, keeping with the calendar month for each lesson of the OLW, with a little reminder to check in mid month.

It may be recycled digital content but I'm very excited about this. I've longed to see some of Ali's digital content in print form since I don't care for digital scrapbooking. I think $10 a month is a fabulous price for this kit. Since most of the design work has been done, it helps keep the cost down. I'm so over SC and Cocoa Daisy was a flop for me, hoping this is what I've been looking for.

I think this is a test year for AE's attempt at a PL offer. It could very well be that the price increases next year to reach the physical DD mini kit vs digital DD mini kit balance and use fresh new designs only. That would make sense if this Stories by the month sub finds many takers (which I'm certain it will). I'm guessing some things from those kits might have also been batch-ordered in advance by Inked to keep the price point low (which would have been problematic if Ali designs the monthly digi kits as the year goes on). But that's just a wild guess on my part. ETA: The "normal" Story kit is changing the word material in 2018, isn't it? Can anyone confirm my foggy recollection that it's going from thick acrylic to rubber?

I like the idea of smaller kits and I love the price point. I looked through all the digital kits and I don't see enough to subscribe for a year. But I did see a few kits that I like and have added them to my wish list for next year.

The OLW albums didn't appeal to me, does anyone have a suggestion? I'd like to do a 6x8 format, and will need photo page protectors too. I usually like basics, 😀I should have checked out Avery before I started writing!

You know, you're right. Sorry! I'm confusing it with the Story kit. I did both for a year, then let both go, figuring I could do my own thing. OLW is just a prompt/printables/video at the beginning of the month. I think there was some ongoing interaction in the FBk group during the month, but that tapered off as the month and the year went on. The FBk side of things might be busier now tha it was 2 years ago - everything seems to be migrating over there.

It's just a plain faux leather 6x8 in taupe (she also has black) and it has a larger spine than the OLW albums.

Is it 12am EST or 12pm PST? I asked on Instagram and Ali said it is tonight at midnight - I am on eastern time. ETA I was answering regarding the kit sub being available - not regarding the Facebook time. Sorry.

Where will the release be? And like everyone else, there is zero percent chance this is going to go smoothly. I wish they could figure out their computer issues. I had several kits in my cart on BF that I didn’t end up getting and I didn’t dare try to add what ever the promo was as I knew that would have caused even more problems. It isn’t like the popularity of these products is a surprise. Their server should be able to handle the demand.

Well, I signed up for the stories by the month. No issues or problems with the site (although it took about 2 minutes for the link to show up). There are also addons like with the story kits.

Add my name to the list of those who are subscribed for a full year. Everything went surprisingly smooth except for the 2-3 minutes of initial lag. Looking forward to sharing 12 months of product use with all the other Peas who signed up/are about to sign up!
