I wish she would do a some sort of scaled back online version of story camp during this time. The prep parties are a major success so it could be a nice to do an adapted form of Story Camp during the pandemic. Stories of staying at home over two-three days with a digital kit you can buy to follow along. Women are especially affected by the extra load of work due to pandemic lifestyle changes so she could do an exercise about how we perceive our identity to be right now and such. She'd have plenty of takers. I agree... I absolutely love the prep parties and left a comment to Ali after the WITL one about how much I loved the format and was hoping she would consider doing additional ones. I suggested a project life prep one in the week following Christmas to help prep for the new year's album. This was her response: So, fingers crossed!!

Hate that messy hand writing so much. Give me the clean lines of Paislee Press everyday.

Yes!!! I have been bothered by it so much for the last year, but no one else seems to mind. I way prefer the single weight writing she used to do. If this messy writing is all over DD I won’t be buying much this year.

I wish she would go back to her previous thickness/style of writing.

Personally I wish less handwriting of any kind. I would like a nice clean font in the December Daily selection.

I get the SBTM kit and have trouble reading some of the words. The biggest issue for me is that the middles of round letters are often filled in making them look like blobs.

Does anyone remember @julieloveg who used to be in Ali’s DT? She stepped away to start a yoga biz but it looks like she’s back to memory keeping. Hope she starts posting again on her IG.

If this messy writing is all over DD I won’t be buying much this year. I’ve been using a lot of cards from my vintage (lol) SC PL kits, back when Ali designed for them often. And I like her handwriting there a lot! It’s more streamlined, easy to read. It just looks casual. It made me remember the days when I really liked her handwriting elements so much, and how everyone fawned over her writing. What she puts out now does not in any way look even similar. Boo.

Does anyone recall when DD is sneaked? And what about any other special releases this year? Anyone know of any?

I was considering picking up the 4x6 red and white stripe album on “sale” (even though it’s not much of a mark down), but dang! The shipping is $8. That makes me slowly back away.

Ali has a poll in the fb group on whether you prefer albums bundled with dividers or not. Go vote! (I voted for not, and so far that is behind those who prefer the bundle)

I saw today that Ali was looking for feedback for future product in the FB group. I can’t contribute since I don’t have FB. Is it just a survey? Did anyone mention less sloppy handwriting please? Lol

It's funny because I saw a few folks mention less handwriting stuff but others were almost begging for more of her handwriting.

Update on Ali's START TO FINISH TRAVEL class:
Morgan Beal - 6x8 Chicago Album - very cute, it was fun to look through. Love how she used the Travel Collection and other bits and pieces from other kits. So many good ideas, her title page, spray painting the wood words, stitching through out, the mini album w/i the album, the use of transparencies, the fun and unique use of emphrema. She offered the creativity I was hoping for from the CT.
Pam Baldwin - two 6x8 Universal Studio albums - She shared so much information on how to plan & prepare, construct & assemble, and finish w/Embellishing. This is what I was expecting from the class! So many things I loved: the interactive pull out photos, fold out pages, photo pocket pages, use of embellishments. She provided a lot of written informaton and nine videos. I took away so many useful ideas from her lesson.
Last one up is Tazhiana -- hoping she does a 3X8 album....

I love Morgan's album. Pam's seems really good so far too, I haven't finished it yet. There is definitely a lot there. Personally I'm not hoping for a 3x8 album because I don't think I'll ever want to do that size, but I am surprised they've all done 6x8 so far. I wonder if Ali coordinated this at all or just told them to do whatever?

It sounds like there was just one weak contribution and the rest have been good, if not great. I expect good things from Tazhi, so hopefully she comes through! If so, I will definitely purchase this class in the future.

I purchased the Roam story kit, which is my first story kit.
I was surprised to see a Roam class show up in my classroom. I didn’t know that story kits came with any I instruction. But then was fairly disappointed to see it’s just Ali talking about the word and her interpretations and talk about story ideas. No visuals or demonstrations. Okay. But on IG she posts a shot of someone’s mini album using Roam and says that person’s album will be in the classroom soon.
So the classroom gets updated with content throughout the month?

There should be process videos and a pdf handout of ideas, you need to click over to "lessons." When the class releases on the 15th all of Ali's content is available--the main video with story ideas and her process videos (usually 4 projects: 3 traditional pages and 1 project life spread). Then, on the 1st of the following month 2 new lessons should appear from contributors. They will each create 2 projects but there is no standard method of delivery...sometimes it's written like a blog post with photos and other times there are additional process videos, just depends on whoever the contributor is. The story kit or story stamp both come with the class portion. If you purchase both the kit and the stamp you also get the digital kit along with the class.

Hi everyone! I registered for this account just so I could ask this question: can anyone tell me about Ali's "Stories of Travel" class? I scrap exclusively digitally and already have my own aesthetic that I'm pretty happy with, so I'm not looking for layout inspo. What I'm most interested in from her description of the class is the following: "What to do before, during, and after travel to help you tell the kinds of stories you want to tell; Pre-planning ideas to help you decide on an intentional documenting approach; Tips for being present while traveling + still getting stories told." How deeply does she get into those points? Will it be like 5 seconds of that stuff and then mostly flip-throughs and things that are irrelevant to me? (A search of this forum and reading what others had to say about this class a couple of years ago made it...sound not all that much like what I'm looking for.) It's an expensive class and I don't want to pay for it if it's mostly stuff I don't care about, but if she heavily covers the items I quoted above then it would probably be worth it for me. Also interested in suggestions of classes elsewhere in the scrapbooking world that could help with the above! Thanks ever so much. (BTW, as an unregistered user I have spent literally months not doing a lick of work at my job and just reading the Ali, Beggy, and Studio Calico threads for hours and hours to amuse myself. This coming from someone who has never done business with any of them! My sincerest thanks for the endless entertainment.) Hi! Sorry I kept meaning to respond to your request but wanted to go back and look at my notes for the class because I did it so long ago. Personally, I loved the class. However, if you only do digital and already have your own aesthetic some of the content would not be helpful so I'm not sure if you would be able to get enough out of the class to be worth it, but it definitely depends on how much you think tips in those areas you mentioned would be helpful. For me, the stuff you are interested in was the least useful, but I also have been scrapbooking for 15+ years and have learned a lot of stuff along the way. So I take classes more to see the pretty projects/flipthroughs than get ideas because it is rare that someone shares an idea I haven't seen/thought of already. Here is a breakdown of what I remember from the class (without giving away her paid content obviously): Week 01: Probably wouldn't be helpful to you. It goes over different ways you can document a trip (and you already seem to know you want to go with digital) and she shows her completed and in-progress projects and where she is for each one. She has a lot of project types she shares, including a digital photo book. She also gives an overview of steps to follow when documenting a trip, but these things were self-explanatory to me. I could see it being helpful for someone who is new to scrapbooking vacations or feels lost with where to start, but that isn't me. Week 02: Before you travel. She had some good ideas here for things to consider to frame the stories/photos/memorabilia you will want to collect while you're traveling. I could see this being helpful if you're planning an upcoming trip but, obviously, it won't help for older trips. Some of it focused on scrapbooking on the road but definitely not all of it. This comes with an hour long video presentation. Week 03: During travel. Some basic things to think about while collecting your stories/photos/memorabilia. Then she provided lists of ideas for each category. There are 20 ideas for words, 19 for photos and 3 for ephemera. I thought most of these were self explanatory or didn't speak to me, but again I don't feel like I struggle in this area... I took the class for the motivation to finish old albums and see her projects. If you really are stumped on what to collect or feel like you always do the same thing and your content is stale, having these lists could be helpful. It has over an hour long video presentation for each words and photos. Again, this probably wouldn't help for trips in the past. Week 04: After travel. This was a checklist of what to do right after you travel and steps to building an album. It comes with a video that is over 1 hour long. I'm not sure how helpful this is if you already have a process, but again, it depends on what you are struggling with and why you're interested in taking the class in the first place? Week 05: This is a process video of a 12x12 album and a flip through. In summary, you would have about 4 hours worth of video content, and various lists of ideas for the topics you are interested in (weeks 2-4). Personally, the parts of this class that shone were the parts that you're not interested in (weeks 1 & 5), but then that might just be because the before/during/after travel stuff isn't where I struggle and I took the class mostly for the motivation to continue projects that I had stalled on and to see her process video & flip throughs. I hope this is helpful!
