I’m a big fan of Shaun King and have been following his evolution on this. While I can’t say I’m actively boycotting the NFL because of its treatment of Koepernick, I also haven’t watched any games so far this year. And after being on the waiting list for 20 years, this year was our turn to buy season tickets and we passed.
My antipathy is a combination of things. My team’s quarterback is Ben R. He will never get my support, no matter how many kids he has, how many charities he supports or how many touchdowns he throws. Then there is the nightmare of CTE and the league’s criminal indifference to it. Then you throw in the treatment of Koepernick (although suddenly today the new protestors are worthy of defense) and it makes it easy to find other things to do on Sunday afternoon.
I actually thought today that Trump’s attack on Goodall after the tweet back and forth may be the most popular position he’s ever taken.

Not me. Proudly supporting my KC Chiefs every week. Ware my red KC shirt on Fridays and just bought some new items. Also watching College Football too.
I am not going to boycott because no one is signing Kap. Sorry but he sucks. You want to kneel? Go for it. It is your right to do so. Just like its my right to continue enjoying my KC Chiefs.

I agree. I think he hasn't been signed because he sucks as a quarterback. He had a great year, but that was it. Since then he has stunk as a QB.

Watch millionaires playing for billionaires? No thanks. Way better ways to spend the time (for me, doesn't mean it's for everyone).

The boycott seems to be from both sides. Some people are boycotting because players are taking a knee. Others are boycotting because of the way players taking a knee are being treated. When attendance is down, which side gets the blame/credit?

I don't think the treatment of a mediocre player is a reason to boycott the NFL. I mean there are plenty of reasons to boycott, I suppose, but this isn't a blip. He didn't get signed for the same reason a lot of quarterbacks aren't signed. There is someone better for the team out there.
If an owner doesn't want to sign someone that kneels, it is absolutely his or her right, but I'm willing to bet that if Kap was capable of taking the team to the Super Bowl he'd be signed.
I back the player's right to kneel, just as I back the coach and the owner's right not to play the player.

I think it’s ridiculous that grown men get paid millions to play a violent game on national television, that players who commit violence off the field are often given a pass by the league and their fans, and that everything that happens in this fucked up little club is the subject of national conversation.
Does that count as a boycott? If so, I’m on year 44.

Kap isn't signed because he took a knee. He isn't signed because he isn't great and wasn't a good leader on the field.
He had one good year. People don't talk about his great throws or his ability to run the ball. What they talk about is his right to express his point of view. That says a lot about his situation.
I won't boycott because a cry baby president told me to do it. I'm more inclined to tune in if it annoys him.
I try never to miss a Broncos game. I'm not ashamed of that.

I'm so HAPPY that dh stopped watching last season due to the politics!!!! Boycott away, husband! Suddenly, we are free on Sundays! and Monday nights...and Thursday nights. Last season he got fed up with the players AND the commentators. After 18 years of being a "football widow" I am loving it. He was totally involved on Sundays from the first East coast time pre-game show until to the last comments post game Sunday night. If we had to go anywhere on Sunday..the kids and I had to be almost silent so he could listen to the games on the car radio. Then he stopped..cold turkey, because he watched to escape and it was longer was an escape with all the politics. And I love it!! Last winter we hiked most Sundays for 5 or 6 miles. We took up wildlife photography. We started shopping together and grabbing a lunch or snack while we are out on Sunday instead of rushing home before kickoff. I'm enjoying this new life together... keep on kneeling NFL! Tweet to your heart's content, Mr. President!!

I actually thought today that Trump’s attack on Goodall after the tweet back and forth may be the most popular position he’s ever taken.I actually think the opposite. I have read my share of ESPN.com today (it is a college football Saturday) and watched sports coverage this evening, and athletes - across professional sports - are bonding about Trump’s tweets regarding both the NFL and the NBA and being very vocal and some quite articulate about the multiple issues they have with Trump. The buzz in the sports world that I’ve been reading - from fans - isn’t supportive of Trump on this. I think that a segment of the population who normally pay more attention to sports than politics may become more aware and involved in the current political landscape. For me, I think it is somewhat disgusting that Trump thinks that there are “some fine people” in Neo-Nazi, KKK and White Supremacist groups, yet calls for boycotting the NFL because of players taking a knee during the anthem. A MLB player took a knee today- Oakland’s Maxwell - so I wonder if Trump will now call for a boycott of “America’s Game?”

Eh, we still watch. It's not a must but if we're free and don't have other things that needed to be done or want to do, the game might be on. We have basic cable so only network channels (abc, nbc, fox, CBS).
DH refuses to buy tickets though. Says they're overpriced, football and hockey. I haven't been to Lions game in over 20 years.

Colin K..SUCKS as a QB. That's why he is not playing. If he was that great, there's a few teams who have the need of a GREAT QB yet there he sits without a job. I hate TRUMP and this is going to backfire on him. I will not boycott the NFL especially now that 45 has said to. Idiot

"Tonight, I'm taking a knee for America; but not just one knee, I'm taking both knees," he said on stage Saturday before his performance at the Global Citizens Festival. "Both knees in prayer for our planet, our future, our leaders of the world and our globe. Amen ..." www.cnn.com/2017/08/15/us/espn-fantasy-football-auction/index.htmlDid anyone see this when it was trending?

For those of you who say Kap isn't signed because he sucks...how do you explain the Dolphins signing freaking JAY CUTLER who admitted that he wasn't in shape and didn't plan to get in shape?
Or those who seriously looked at Johnny Manziel?
If you don't think Kap is being overlooked because of his stance on social causes, you aren't looking very hard.

I'll boycott with you! I mean I hate football regardless so I will support any NFL boycott. CFL, too! I have never been at all interested in football. I didn't grow up watching (my parents weren't interested), and I don't get the appeal as an adult. When the head injury information started coming out a few years ago, I think I likely would have stopped enjoying watching if I were already watching.

There are plenty of people who will watch today to see what happens.
Our “jobs” President isn’t thinking about all the people whose livelihood is tied to the games! Nice work making Americna Great Again.
