back in the day the gg's got paid in store credit…. so as soon as any new product came in, the GGS would buy every bit of it! WE had money to spend! ALL 50 of us Garden Girls could empty out a store pretty fast. probably not the best thing for a store… but it was fun for us! Then we'd make layouts using the product, and sorry…. its sold out. You guys knew that though didn't you?

Actually, even before that, ALL of us got paid in store credit for posting layouts. It's how the gallery really got started.

Thanks for spilling some secret, M.
Now I know (part of) the reason that I stopped shopping there!! It was the GGs' fault ! ! ! ! :-O

That is totally interesting. The gallery was a great resource, but I am surprised that the garden girls were happy just being paid in store credit.

I didn't know that...honestly it would have never occurred to me because that seems like a really bad business model. Oh wait...it was.

I never knew that, but it totally explains why all the best stuff was always out of stock! Rarrrr! They should have stocked extra of that stuff so the regular peas could buy it and support the store! That was one of the reasons I stopped shopping at TwoPeas all that often; I could never get the latest and greatest.

That is really funny. Why have the GG showcasing the goods if they didn't have any to supply to others that might have been inspired by their work? Great way to run a business that is...NOT! Little wonder why they shut up shop!
I never bought from them anyhow as the postage was ridiculous to the UK. Postage was no comparison to any other US store that I've bought from.

How bonkers- to 'pay' someone to create something beautiful to make customers desire the products used- but have no stock of said product?! No wonder they went under!

So what else don't we know?

I was always curious how much the GGs were paid (even if it was in store credit). Now that it's defunct is that a rude question to ask?

Suddenly that explains a lot. I liked 2peas because of the impression they had the latest and greatest but it was never on stock. Now I know why. With 50 GGs at a time? No wonder. :/
And, now we have insight into the failure. At least one part of it.

This is possibly the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. So, they were basically making no revenue? Fantastic.

We got paid $5 per layout as I recall. We were required to do 5 a month. Some did more, some didn't do any. It added up. Classes and articles were more pay. I always had credit in my account. When I quit, I think I still had $300.00 in credit.
