I give Oprah a lot of respect. She really overcame a lot of obstacles. Her show was one of my favorites. I think she is generous. I think she has used her power to give a lot people a hand up in this world. I think she genuinely cares about women and I think she has always been a shining light for all women.
Her exit interview with Michelle Obama I thoroughly enjoyed.
I do wonder, though, if those that have a lot often become disconnected over time with those that have very little. Her favorite things list is a good example of this. The things she recommends are often very indulgent. My idea of indulgence and hers are two very different things.

I actually looked at the whole list today! :-D I ordered the Vionic shoes because I have serious feet problems, I already have a pair of the flip flops and like them, and I ordered them through a GMA special—half off! I am a fan of the Peepers brand of reading glasses that she has recommended for the second year in a row. Last year they had a sale, and I was still able to use the Oprah code and got a great deal on a bunch of glasses for me and DH. I plan on doing the same this year. Other than those two things, I saw nothing that interested me. Erin I didn't read the whole thread yet but I stopped dead in my tracks.. you mentioned Vionic shoes.. I have been looking for 'good' shoes and my sister recommended them, but I haven't pulled the plug.. now I am surprised to see those on her list. I will check them out again. Honestly, Vionics have not been magical for me. The are very expensive (but, cute!) and they are better than regular shoes on my feet, but, nothing has been better than my old standard Croc wedge flip flops. Ugh! Foot problems suck!! Erin

OK......so like I said already, IF people are too busy/lazy/uninterested to look her up and she must be described by her weight for people to know who she is, a gentler word than OBESE could have been used. I am shocked that people think it is OK. It is no secret that she is medically morbidly obese but that is so very harsh. What about fat? Is that better? Because that's how Kate describes herself in almost every episode. I think Chrissy or "Kate" can call herself whatever she wants to call herself. BUT we should not call her fat/obese/etc... and we are rude if we do.

I don't like Oprah because she was always interrupting people on her show. She'd ask them a question, and as soon as they start to answer, she'd interrupt them. It's like she was the only one who was allowed to talk. ugh. Drove me nuts!

The things she recommends are often very indulgent. My idea of indulgence and hers are two very different things. She was on Ellen's show recently and they went to a grocery store. Both mentioned they didn't know the last time when they had shopped at one. They picked a random person, went to their apartment, and tried out Oprah's soup. Oprah didn't know she should put her soup in the fridge and not the freezer. Maybe it was one of those brain freeze moments but I wondered how involved she was in her latest project.

I would make it a point to watch when she had an interesting guest, and she NEVER let them talk. Her “all wise” aur drove me nuts. I got to where the very sound of her voice annoyed the snot out of me. Believe me, it wasn’t always that way, and I really wanted to keep liking her.

Erin Maybe Croc shoes.. I can't wear flip flops to work.. Yes foot problems suck.. getting old is sucky too.. all of a sudden I went from taking absolutely no medications or vitamins now taking six a day (including Aleve for my feet), prescription reading glasses and feet problems..
