I watched my first Hallmark Christmas movie this season. Last year I watched three or four and I think that was the first year I ever saw any. There are some actors I like to see, and I love Christmas movies. But I feel frustrated at how they are so incredibly dumbed down for us. I'm not sure what I'm looking for, but I know that it's got to be better than what's out there right now.
Does anybody else long for a good Christmas movie but feel frustrated with these ones?
ETA: The last question should read "...there has to be something better."

I don't really see my choice there - I do love the Hallmark Christmas movies but I don't watch every one - on the weekends, I will watch 2 or 3 - I enjoy them but honestly, there are so many of them that I can't keep up

There are always a few stinkers in the bunch every year, but I'm a fan.
I just love it when that plucky heroine lands in a small town, gets some great pie and coffee (not to mention a few new friends) at the local diner, falls in love with a sexy, single veterinarian, and learns the true meaning of Christmas.

That about sums them all up! But, I watch as many as I can.

I'm in the 'I can watch a few' category. I love Christmas movies, which is surprising, since I hate Christmas music But I tend to watch the classics. Though I now also consider The Family Stone a Christmas movie that I enjoy.

Yes, they’re cheesy. But I never miss a new one. I record them all and will watch them when I have time. I will watch even the suckiest movie because I just have to. Haha!

I'd rather watch paint dry. Luckily there is hockey.

My choice is not listed. I watch some, but not all. There are some good ones and some really cheesy "bad acting" ones. Some I watch once, some I start watching and don't finish, some I watch the re-run every season(sometimes more than once).
My favorite is a Royal Christmas, starring Lacey Chabert.

I watch some of them, knowing that they are cheesy. It’s my guilty little holiday pleasure.

Not my thing. I watch maybe 3 movies a year on tv. Hallmark is a little too cheesy for me.

I love cheese! Both of the dairy and Hallmark variety.

I watch them and make snide comments. I laugh at the cheesy dialogue and fast forward through the parts I think are dumb. They are basically Pollyanna versions of bad Lifetime movies. I like me some mindless TV, especially during the holidays; they have a calming effect.

The only one that I like is The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law. I could watch that over and over again. The rest of the holiday movies not so much.
Oh yeah, except Miracle on 34th Street. I have to watch that once every year.

I limit myself to only watching them on the weekends. The closer to Christmas we get I may start watching other days of the week, but in early Nov I can only handle a day or two a week.

I love Hallmark Christmas Movies. Yeah, I know they're cheesy but that's probably why I like them! And I like that most everyone gets a happy ending.

I'd rather watch paint dry. Luckily there is hockey. Hahaha! I joke that I watch hockey and curse like a sailor, the flip to Hallmark after the post game to cleanse my palate. They are all so completely cheesy, formulaic, and not my usual style, yet I'm drawn to them like a train wreck 😂. The Christmas Card has become our family's Rocky Horror Picture show. We quote the awful dialog throughout the movie and have so many running inside jokes about the movie, it's frightening!

I no longer have cable so no Hallmark Channel. I can watch some of them on Netflix. I enjoy some and others are so bad I can't do it. One of my favorites is the one with the FBI agent that takes the mobster's girlfriend home for the holidays to keep her safe and they are pretending to be a couple. Tyne Daly was the mom.
The Christmas Card, is that the one at the lumber yard? I like that one, but it's also pretty snark worthy. Especially the actor who will forever be "Skipper"from Sex in the City. I also struggle with the main actress' lisp. I keep waiting her her to start reciting, "she sells seashells by the seashore" sounding like Cindy Brady.

Two people pretending to be a couple for the holdays and then actually falling in love in the short time they're perpetuating the ruse is a very popular theme of Hallmark movies. As is the big developer trying to develop the beloved small town landmark. And yes--much of The Christmas Card centers around the Spellman's lumber mill. The actress that plays Faith does have a distracting lisp. I'm not a SITC watcher so I had to IMDB Skipper. The actor's name is Ben Weber and he played Faith's emotionally stunted boyfriend Paul, the international wine broker. Today, he's riding the wave of success of his Christmas Card role and does lunch meat commercials. Like i said, this movie is our Rocky Horror Picture Show 😂

I watch one now and then, but they ARE way too schmaltzy for me. I like 'real' people movies, not the ones with the (my opinion) lame stories about Santa Claus's daughter, or miracle angels, or the big-city-girl-gets-stuck-in-a-small-town-and-falls-in-love-with-a-Christmas-tree-farmer types.
(and I realize that with that last exclusion, there, I've basically said I don't like MOST of them, lol.)

We were with my husband's family last Thanksgiving weekend and my MIL and nieces were watching those Hallmark movies and I wanted to run out of the house and scream at the top of my lungs. SO DUMB.

I record them and watch them while I'm on my treadmill. I just watched the one with Krissy Kringle last night. It's just silly fun, but that one was surprisingly well acted.

I love them! They are so cheesy and ridiculous! I love how they all take place in a small town with no discernible industry other than being a Christmas destination. However, the protagonist owns her own business, usually a flower shop or a travel agency, yet she lives in this gigantic house on acres of land! And the carolers - they show up everywhere! Going for a stroll down Main Street on Tuesday afternoon? We have carolers for that!

But she really wants to be an ice sculptor! Ummmm... Such crazy nonsense, yet I can't stop watching them.

I find them mind numbingly cheesy.
I only watch the ones with Candace Cameron Bure where she is the doctor who moves to Alaska and the one where she takes over the ski chalet for her father's company and falls in love with the son.
