Weird (in the light of all of this) that BH just posted on IG that "you're not responsible for other people's memories". Physician, heal thyself? I've always said her cultivate a good life quotes were completely nauseating because she comes off as so preachy but this really gets under my skin. She literally thinks she can preach whatever the hell she wants but none of it applies to her. Becky get the f*ck over yourself. |

I heard Becky say this years ago and it was really profound at the time for me. It gave me permission to toss holiday cards from other people and not feel bad. I don't worry about making sure I take plenty of photos of extended family members at the holidays or random gatherings. I could go on and on really.
If some of you all are so upset and bothered by BH media posts why are you following her???

she's being hypocritical, since she just sent Chip and Joanna Gaines a book using THEIR photos. She LITERALLY MADE HERSELF RESPONSIBLE for other people's memories in that case. That's what makes her quote funny.

It actually is profound and very true...but this conversation is about context and not what's being said. Thank you for a better way of saying what I was trying to say! We're simply pointing out beckys (mis)steps and hypocrisy. If it bothers others maybe they shouldn't read our thoughts. |

(I might have thought 'crazy stalker' and 'restraining order' if someone had sent a book made with my very own photos to ME.) For sure, I would. And re: the copyright thing mom mentioned - that might be most people's view of how copyright works, but it's not necessarily the legal reality. I'm no copyright lawyer but I'm pretty sure the photographers who made those pictures Beggy stole would argue that she has no right to use them for any purpose at all. As a creator I would think she'd be more considerate. If I'm not stealing her PL card designs to sell and profit from but just for my own albums is that OK? IKR? Sounds like someone doesn't understand the concept of creative commons. |

Isn't that how scrapping amp'ed up in the 90's and why so many scrapping companies were HQ'ed in Utah and/or run by Mormons? It's more about preserving family history through stories and pictures and most importantly doing temple work. The creative side was never pushed. I think it was a natural extension for Mormons (NOT in authority) to create these companies because it would sell well. There are Super Saturday activities, other meetings, and Relief Society meetings that generally have a homemaking/crafty/spiritual spin to them. I've seen an overwhelming majority of Mormons who no longer scrapbook. Most do photo books or nothing like the majority of previous scrapbookers who left the hobby. |

I love how folks are fawning all over her "random act of kindness" as if sending a few items to multi-millionaires is the kindest thing a person can do, vs. you know, donating them to women's shelters, etc. It's promotion, pure and simple. Random acts of kindness generally don't get their own IG post - they are done by millions everyday - quietly and in a spirit of true charity.

She's sending the book she made, some wrapping paper, notebooks and all about me kits for each of their kids. when i saw that IG post last night, i felt physically uncomfortable - it is so inappropriate. i assumed she had healthier boundaries - this is violating both personal and professional boundaries. the content of her post was similar to what you'd read on the IG of a struggling adolescent. |

It's never the idiotic idea or stunt that gets me upset, it's the cheering, fawning fans to the idiotic idea or stunt. When I was young, I never understood the Barnum "one born every minute" quote. The older I get, the more I understand how easy it is to rook gullible people into all manner of things that make gobs of money for the rooker. I think I could make a pretty penny if I had as little qualms as the "IG influencer" set about pressing my advantage. But, I do OK and I get to sleep at night vs. profiting off the enormous margin between cost of goods sold and what people will pay when they're in thrall to a "celebrity". |

Scrapsontherocks, my comment was in no way directed at the poster I quoted, but was instead in response to her comment about stalking. You are correct in that the quote feature is difficult on here, or at least I haven't figured it out yet. Even after attempting to edit, I still don't think I got it right.
