Thanks jeremysgirl . I’m not sure I’ll use Caron cake style yarn again I’m not a fan of the abrupt colour changes - my cousin is not expecting it and she’ll be thrilled as she sews brilliantly but cannot do anything with yarn 🙂 I came across this blog post with designs for that type of cake yarn, and it's almost enough to tempt me to try one!

jennyap, I am the exact.same.way. I lose interest in a project. That blanket I'm trying to finish for Christmas? I've been working on it for two years now...lol... I'm so close to done now, but I'm dragging my butt to finish it. I have another WIP I haven't picked up in six months. I've been working on that one for years too.

Awesome! I think that is one of the P4P's I don't have...you may have convinced me that I need it! Joined the fb groups...waiting for approval! I think I only have one George & Ginger, their stuff is super cute. I'm just not very good at sewing for myself!

I already posted the scrubbies I made for my sister. I made a hat for my granddaughter because it’s getting cold and she needed one. She was a less than cooperative model. She looks like a perfect model to me. Adorable.

Instead of a magic ring I just chain two/three (depending on what stitch it calls for) and work my stitches into the furthest chain from the hook. I don't count the chains.

This, on the other hand, was a gift for my youngest, but I didn't want to sit on it for the holidays because it is cold all of a sudden. This is the Canvas Kid Cardigan from Making Magazine's Dots issue. This picture should be in the dictionary as an illustration of the word "delight"! Adorable!

I finished my mantle letters today. I really happy how they came out. I copied some from Pinterest and made them to fit my mantle. I also finished knitting the middle stocking to match the other twofor our pup’s first Christmas.

Beautiful crafts everyone! I love all the crochet pieces. I haven't crocheted anything in several years and my skill set is very limited, mostly chain and single and double crochet, LOL.
I am making a weighted blanket for my DD. Hopefully it will help her sleep. I started out to make her a flannel quilt and then decided to make it weighted, then a friend suggested to make the blanket separately and us the flannel like a duvet cover so it can be laundered. (Duh! Why didn't I think of that?)
I just finished getting the weighted blanket sewn, now to try to get the cover done without her seeing it, she comes home from college in 2 days.
I am also working on a flannel throw quilt (45x60ish) for DS and I have the squares cut to make DH a denim and flannel throw quilt. I am going to have to get my machine smoking to get it all done.

disneypal, that is hands down the best project I've seen with the Caron cakes. Why, thank you very much I agree that it is the best "cake" project I have seen. How did you get the color changes to correspond to the rows of the pattern? I have only knit with the cakes and I don't like when to color changes mid row.

Thank you...I don’t do anything - I just use the yarn as is - and I think the nature of the pattern just makes the colors flow well.

I am so close to done with my project. I was in the zone last night crocheting away. Then all of a sudden I looked up and it was 11:00! I had to put it away and go to bed. I wanted to stay up late and keep going. Kids had a snow day, but unfortunately, I didn't. I am really feeling like Sunday I can finish it. At least that's my plan.

Quick progress update on my Hotel of Bees shawl. 8 days, 38 rows - and the great thing about this pattern is that it starts at the wider end so the rows get shorter as you go. It's my secret project - I haven't owned up to DH that I started something else, so I'm only working on it after he goes to bed : :

I just finished these! The paper is watercolor that I couldn't get to watercolor nicely. Consequently I used Prisma colored pencils and gamsol.

We always like to make a reusable bag to hold my dd's dance teacher's gifts. This is the one we made for this year. It's not christmassy but that means she can use it all year long. I added a zip pocket to the inside, which let me turn it right side out without having an opening in the lining. I used foam for the stabilizer so it was way too thick to topstitch. I think it still turned out cute though. The fabric is glittery. http://instagr.am/p/BcyZLJBFCaf

Just ordered my yarn for the Woodland CAL. I am hoping it arrives in time. The beautiful colors hooked me.

I’ve been making little snowman ornaments and decorations out of spun cotton shapes and covered with German glass glitter. I’m also almost done with my Christmas photo cards (digi scrapped, sort of), most got mailed yesterday. I’m almost done with DD’s Christmas pjs and still need to sew up the pants DH and me but they’re cut out. If I have time, I want to make DD a new winter hat that looks like a fox head because I still have some leftover orange fleece, and another one or two fleece sweaters for the little dog.

I FINALLY finished the border on the 2nd PCC for my girls last night. They're going to get to choose their own findings, I have some options and they can decide after they see them.
Still have 4 hooded blankets to finish (well, 2 to embellish, 1 to finish/embellish and 1 to start). Good news is I was finally able to find the yarn I needed for the 4th one.
Yegads.

Sewing/crafty peas - do any of you have suggestions for bibs for an 8 year old special needs child? He lives in a home for disabled children and enjoys going out in the community. But he wears awful white baby looking bibs like you get in a hospital. I would love to see this young boy have bibs that blend in with his clothes and allow him some dignity. They should be absorbent though not necessarily terry cloth.
I wonder if any group would take on something like this?

I wonder if any group would take on something like this? When my kids were toddlers one of my friends gifted me bibs that were made out of kitchen towels. She cut a hole in them and sewed ribbing around like a t shirt has. Over the head they went and they we're so big and awesome for a messy toddler.
