Fucker Carlson is on Fox right now asking why it's such a terrible thing to say that these countries are crappy? Why the selective outrage? Talk about missing the point. God I hate him. Oh, THAT was the Fox guy I was referencing upthread. For some reason, I thought his first name was "Tucker," though. LOL.

he probably used Norway as his example because it was the only other country he could remember the name of, having just met with the prime minister! (after he learned what the name of it actually IS, of course... he called it Nor-May at first) I have zero doubt that's why he mentioned Norway. He can only keep a thought in his head for a few hours at most, so since the last foreign white person he met was from Norway, Norway it is.

Oh its not that I don't think there were NO Norwegian immigrants coming here. I'm a permanent resident Australian, so I know people do leave countries like that and come here. Just that I kind of doubt they are clamoring to come here in the numbers that the said "shithole countries" are. I tried to correct my post but you quoted before I could - the 20,000+ figure is Norwegian born in US each year not actual annual immigration their quota cap is way below that - sorry for my own false information! LOL sorry! I get what point you were making, though, and its valid. Definitely no need to stoop to his level at all, when his ineptitude is so obnoxiously obvious.

I was watching MSNBC and one of contributors said what prompted trump’s outburst was letting folks of all skill levels into the country and I guess trump only wants those with a high skill levels be allowed in the country. And since in trumps, and way too many others, tiny little minds the folks from the shithole countries are just plain useless and have no skills. That sounded familiar. Then I remembered.
This is from Senator Tom Cotton’s Immigration bill that trump has signed on to.
“The RAISE Act will create a skills-based system that is more responsive to the needs of our economy and preserves the quality of jobs available to American workers." (Me Translation - leave the jobs that require minimal skills for American workers)
Specifically the RAISE Act would:
Establish a Skills-Based Points System. The RAISE Act would replace the current permanent employment-visa system with a skills-based points system, akin to the systems used by Canada and Australia. The system would prioritize those immigrants who are best positioned to succeed in the United States and expand the economy. Applicants earn points based on education, English-language ability, high-paying job offers, age, record of extraordinary achievement, and entrepreneurial initiative. “
What trump & company want to do is limited the number of immigrants into the country each year and they only want people who fit the description above. This country has always taken people in for humanitarian reasons. So I’m guessing here that if this country continues to take in folks for humanitarian reasons that cuts the number of the “chosen” ones allowed in that trump and company want especially if the plan is to limited the number of immigrants we let in every year.
Hence the outburst especially if he was feeling pressured.
By the way I think Cotton’s point plan is elitist and doesn’t belong in this country. And it goes without saying the stable genius is a stupid jerk.

It is disgusting to see the usuals on CNN making excuses for this. I would have much more respect for their opinion and point of view if they would at times deviate from the "Trump does no wrong" agenda.

Holy heck!
I freaking leave the house for two hours, and come home to this insanity!!
Trump can't be my president anymore. He is full of so much hate. And why is every single politician in USA not making a public stand against this hateful speech?
My heart and head hurt so much from what our country has become.

I have just tuned back in after one of my last days in the US. It has been an education, for sure! I wish this latest pearl of wisdom had been captured on tape. Though there seem to have been about a dozen witnesses (a good start?) we all know this man's modus operandi. What on earth was he trying to add to the meeting? Just likes to hear the sound of his own voice? Again, I put my faith in him hanging himself with Mueller, on Twitter and so on. He just can't help himself and when it comes, it will be all the sweeter in that he will only have himself to blame. Same with his whole entitled family.

Despicable. And what if they ARE from struggling countries? (Or circumstances? I know my grandparents all thought Ireland was pretty sh!tty because they were hungry and poor.) I had to memorize the inscription on the Statue of Liberty when I was young and I still remember the words: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shores. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”That made me tear up a little.

It's shocking that I can still be shocked by what comes out of his mouth. As an aside, we welcome about 20,000+ Norwegian immigrants each year, including 2016 the last year available. We shouldn't counter his ignorance with false information. Oh its not that I don't think there were NO Norwegian immigrants coming here. I'm a permanent resident Australian, so I know people do leave countries like that and come here. Just that I kind of doubt they are clamoring to come here in the numbers that the said "shithole countries" are. I'd love to see a source. Not finding anything near that number per year - unless it counts students. ETA - Never mind. I see Darcy was not correct in her numbers. That seemed crazily high for people to move from a sane country to one that is becoming more insane daily.

Ugh, there are people commenting on the news stories about this saying, "so? He's telling the truth! About time we had a president that speaks the truth."
puke, yuck, ugh.
Nice thing about public commenting done through Facebook is that you see their names and pictures so I know who to avoid.

Trump's 's---hole' remark sparks bipartisan backlashBY JOHN BOWDEN - 01/11/18 08:24 PM EST Rep. Mia Love LUDMYA (MIA) LOVE Trump says he's encouraging Hatch to run for reelection Lawmakers discuss how to curb partisanship The Hill's 12:30 Report MORE (R-Utah), the nation's first Haitian-American representative, said the president's remarks were "unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values." "This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation," Love said in a statement. "My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took an oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with." Other Republicans, such as Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah), called for a "detailed explanation" of Trump's comments, while Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) called them "disappointing." "I would not talk about nations like this, because I believe the people of those countries are made in the image of God and have worth and human dignity," Lankford said in a statement. thehill.com/homenews/administration/368636-lawmakers-rail-against-trump-after-s-hole-commentAnderson Cooper: ‘Let’s not kid ourselves,’ Trump’s comments are ‘racist’BY JOHN BOWDEN - 01/11/18 08:58 PM EST "The president of the United States is tired of so many black people coming to this country. I wish I was not continuously surprised at how low Trump can go, but he seems to find new ways to show just what an awful person he is.
And I'm totally disgusted by the people who cannot admit this was a terrible thing to say, and try to spin it to pretend it's not racist.
