Come on, that's not necessary. Okay, so let me re-word that. Melania Trump spent at least half her life posing nude for money. This is a very different look than any recent first lady. This may be what Donnie is referring to. (Facts, son. Facts.) I know this, I'm sure we all know this. Doesn't mean you needed to insult another pea to get your point across. I disagree with @donnie and don't particularly like what she said but there are better ways of getting the point across.

I insulted one she respects back. I did not insult a pea. Did you not see all the women here calling her racist? (Actually insulting her?) Did you handslap them?

I think there is a difference in calling someone out about their racist comments and stating they probably prefer the "naked porn whore look".

I guess I could have worded it better. I still find it amusing, and true since that is the look Melania is known for. Donnie said she prefers Melania's look "no matter what she wears" If you can't see the humor in that, well... I dunno. My humor can be off-color. Bottom line, calling someone racist is WAY worse, girl.

Bottom line, calling someone racist is WAY worse, girl. I get what you're saying, I just feel like many of those that pointed out the racist comment also explained why/how it was racist. To me that leaves room for open dialogue and learning.

that^^^ is the part that caught my attention, too. It's not the first time I've read it either. Assuming all other things being equal (they could be wearing different things, same thing or nothing if "no matter what she wears") I would have to assume you (general) are saying one of the ladies is superior or looks better in some other way. Then considering their backgrounds and past experiences, it seems prejudiced in one's favor to me for what reason? and not in this instance, but I have heard/read how much classier Melania is than Michelle, again considering their background, eduacation etc makes me go "hmmm, how is she classier?" than Michelle with all of her accomplishments and in helping others? A lot of things could go into what determines what one thinks is classy. Is it because she lives in a posh New York City high rise? Is it because she's extremely rich? Is it because she always dresses in upscale clothing and heels? Is it because her makeup is always done to perfection and every hair in place? Is it because she lives in a golden palace? Is it because someone perceives her mannerisms and way of speaking as classy? Is it because her lifestyle in general is expensive and high maintenance? There are endless things that could contribute to that perception, all having nothing to do with skin color. Michelle is filled with class, up one side and down the other, but at the same time, she's down to earth, relatable and likable. Some might not relate that to classy, instead they find the type of criteria above to be classy. Everyone's perception of the differences in these two woman and what constitutes class to THEM is going to be different and the ones who think what constitutes class that is different from what you think constitutes class doesn't mean they're basing their decision on the color of their skin. The original statement said nothing about class. It was all about looks. Once again, if it weren't aimed smack-dab directly at dark-brown Michelle Obama, she would have just said, Melania always looks beautiful. Period. As you say, everyone's entitled to an opinion. And my opinion is that by setting up that comparison to Michelle Obama, she was expressing an obliquely racist opinion. It is no less apparent just because some of you seem to be blind to the dog whistle.

The original statement said nothing about class. It was all about looks. What you're quoting me on here is not referring to the original statement. Neither was what I was responding to. When what I was responding to said "and not in this instance, but..." was a dead giveaway. Once again, the original statement was not "aimed smack-dab directly at dark-brown Michelle Obama. She clearly and concisely said "any first lady we've had in a long time". You keep forgetting that or pretending she didn't say that or something, but that is what she said and it clearly does not involve race. You're entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts. She did NOT set up that comparison. The only ones who set up that comparison are the ones that want to make an absolutely non-racist statement into a racist statement. Pulling the comparison out of your ass and pretending it came from her does NOT make it come from her. "She certainly looks better than any first lady we've had in a long time no matter what she wears. (IMO)" That is not a racist statement and there aren't any words there that could be taken as a "dog whistle".

An FTR, I don’t think Melania was trying to make a statement, I think she always looks amazing (and the thought of always having to look good makes me feel tired. My makeup routine is about 5 min max. Glad my duh still thinks I am hot when I am in my yoga pants and favorite sweatshirt). I am also a fan of Michelle Obama and Laura Bush. And I think Donnie’s comparison to former First Ladies was unnecessary and sure would have made for a shorter thread.

Melania always appears well put together but being a trophy wife is her "job" as Trump's wife. She has the time and budget to keep looking her best. She doesn't have to spend the time/energy most people do in running a household. She has a staff of people to take care of all the things that fill up most people's time.
I have noticed she rarely looks happy when she is with her husband.

What I do find odd is that she wears non US haute couture designer clothes as often as she does. You would think that she would take every opportunity to champion US designers, being in the public " worldwide" eyes as much as she is. Guess that doesn't come into the MAGA mantra for her.
